Bozeman Welcome Dinner
Gather for a welcome dinner with your Travel Director and small group in Bozeman. Share introductions over a relaxed meal and get to know the people travelling with you through Yellowstone.
Set against the Rocky Mountains, Bozeman has long been shaped by ranching and rail travel. The hosted dinner offers a welcoming setting for conversation and a chance to settle into the group before exploring the park’s winter landscapes.
Yellowstone Forever Winter Wildlife Talk
Join a Yellowstone Forever representative in Gardiner for a focused talk on how animals survive Yellowstone’s winter. Through images, examples and discussion, explore the ways wildlife moves, shelters and conserves energy when temperatures fall.
This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience connects the park’s snowy scenery with the ecological pressures beneath it. Your visit supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 15: Life on Land and offers context for wildlife encounters elsewhere in Yellowstone.
Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces
See the steaming terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone’s northern reaches. Mineral-rich hot water flows over limestone, building layered formations whose shapes and colours change as water finds new routes across the hillside.
In winter, rising steam stands out against snow-covered ground, making the geothermal activity especially visible. These terraces reveal a different side of Yellowstone’s volcanic landscape: one that is continually reshaped by heat, water and dissolved minerals.
Lamar Valley Wildlife Encounter
Explore Lamar Valley with MacNeil Lyons of Yellowstone Insight, focusing on the wildlife of Yellowstone’s northern range. Use spotting scopes and join an interactive discussion as you look across the broad winter valley for animals moving through the snow.
Learn about the reintroduction of wolves and their role in the park’s predator-and-prey relationships. The expert-led encounter turns wildlife watching into a closer look at how the northern range functions as an ecosystem.
Yellowstone Snow Coach Tour & Grand Canyon
Travel by snow coach through Yellowstone on winter routes closed to regular traffic. Pass quiet forest corridors, open plateaus and snowy meadows, watching for bison, elk and coyotes along the way.
Look out across the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, where the Yellowstone River cuts through steep volcanic rock. Ice clings to the canyon walls while water continues to flow below, revealing the force that carved this landscape beneath its winter covering.
Old Faithful & Upper Geyser Basin
Watch Old Faithful erupt into the cold air and explore the surrounding boardwalks of Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin. Snow and ice frame the thermal ground, while steam rises from vents and pools across the landscape.
The basin holds one of the world’s great concentrations of geysers. Seeing geothermal heat at work in winter makes the contrast especially clear: beneath the still, snow-covered surface, Yellowstone remains active and constantly changing.
Old Faithful Cross-Country Skiing — Insight Choice
Choose to cross-country ski on groomed trails near Old Faithful, gliding at an easy pace through forest and open winter ground. The trails offer time to notice the stillness of the snowy landscape and the signs of geothermal heat nearby.
This active Insight Choice provides a different way to experience Yellowstone’s quieter season without rushing through it. It is one of three included activity choices in the Old Faithful area.
