Perth City Tour
Explore Perth with your Travel Director and get acquainted with Western Australia’s riverside capital. Discover a city where galleries, green spaces and modern streets sit beside the broad Swan River.
Perth’s setting gives it a character distinct from Australia’s eastern capitals. Kings Park and Botanic Garden, overlooking the city and river, is known for its Western Australian native plants, seasonal wildflowers and Anzac Memorial.
The Pinnacles, Nambung National Park
Discover the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park, where thousands of limestone columns rise from pale desert sand. Walk among their varied shapes and see how changing light throws sharp shadows across the open landscape.
These formations are remnants of an ancient coastal environment shaped by shells, sand and erosion. Their density and irregular forms give this stretch of Western Australia’s coast its distinctive otherworldly appearance.
Kalbarri National Park & Skywalk
Explore Kalbarri National Park and take in the sweeping view from the Kalbarri Skywalk, whose platforms project over the edge of Murchison River Gorge. Look down on the river’s winding course and the layered, rust-coloured rock it has carved through.
The park’s rugged inland scenery contrasts with the nearby coast. In wildflower season, blooms including acacias and banksias can add colour to the surrounding bushland.
Hamelin Pool Stromatolites
Visit Hamelin Pool in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area to observe its stromatolites: layered structures built by communities of microorganisms. See these unusual formations in the shallow, highly saline water without disturbing their fragile environment.
Stromatolites offer a rare visible link to processes associated with Earth’s earliest life. Hamelin Pool’s conditions have helped living examples persist here, making the site especially significant for understanding the planet’s deep past.
Shell Beach, Shark Bay
Walk along Shell Beach in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area, where the bright white shoreline is made not of sand but of countless tiny cockle shells. Take in the contrast between the pale beach and the clear blue water.
Shark Bay’s unusually saline waters favour the shell-producing cockles. Over time, their shells have accumulated in deep deposits, creating one of the region’s most distinctive coastal landscapes.
Monkey Mia Wild Dolphin Encounter
Watch for wild dolphins approaching the shore at Monkey Mia as national park rangers explain the animals’ behaviour and feeding habits. Observe from the beach beside Shark Bay’s calm, shallow water.
Rangers have monitored generations of visiting dolphins, giving this encounter an educational focus as well as a close view of wildlife in its natural habitat. Dolphin appearances cannot be guaranteed, as the animals remain wild.
Ningaloo Reef Glass-Bottom Boat Cruise
Cruise over Ningaloo Reef in a glass-bottom boat off Coral Bay, viewing the marine world without entering the water. An onboard guide points out coral formations and the fish beneath the boat; turtles may also be seen.
Part of the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Coast, this reef lies remarkably close to shore. The cruise offers a comfortable way to appreciate its colour and marine diversity while learning about the protected coastal environment.
Ningaloo Whale Shark Snorkelling
Choose an optional guided snorkelling experience with whale sharks on the Ningaloo Coast. Travel with a specialist operator for the chance to enter the water near these enormous, filter-feeding fish and observe their spotted patterns as they glide past.
Ningaloo is known for seasonal whale shark encounters conducted under wildlife guidelines. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour; availability and sightings depend on the season and conditions.
Ningaloo Humpback Whale Snorkelling
Join an optional snorkelling experience with humpback whales off the Ningaloo Coast during the appropriate season. With a specialist operator, you may have the chance to observe these migrating animals in the water while following the guide’s safety and wildlife instructions.
Humpbacks travel along Western Australia’s coast on their annual migration, making each encounter dependent on their natural behaviour. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour, subject to availability, conditions and wildlife sightings.
Broome Pearl Farm Tour
Visit a pearl farm near Broome to learn how pearls are cultivated and how oysters are cared for. See the skill and patience involved in producing the South Sea pearls for which the region is known.
Broome’s pearling industry shaped the town’s history and brought people from many cultures to its shores. A farm visit connects that heritage with the work carried on today. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
HMAS Sydney II Memorial
Visit Geraldton’s HMAS Sydney II Memorial and pay tribute to the 645 sailors lost when the Australian warship sank off Western Australia in 1941. Its elevated position offers a place for quiet reflection above the coastal city.
The memorial’s symbolic elements honour both the ship and those aboard. The visit brings a personal dimension to a significant chapter of Australia’s Second World War naval history.
Nhanda Cultural Experience at Shark Bay
Join Nhanda host Darren ‘Capes’ Capewell for a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® cultural experience at Shark Bay. Hear about storytelling traditions, listen to a didgeridoo performance and take part in the accompanying music as guided by your host.
Taste bush tucker cooked over a campfire while learning about the enduring connection of Aboriginal communities to this country. The gathering offers a personal introduction to Nhanda culture through stories, sound and food.
Karijini National Park Tour
Explore Karijini National Park on a tour through the Pilbara’s ancient landscape. See layered red cliffs, deep gorges, gum trees and termite mounds, with opportunities to appreciate the scale and textures of the Hamersley Range.
The park’s rock formations record geological processes spanning billions of years. Conditions and your route permitting, its waterholes offer a refreshing contrast to the heat and rugged stone; bring suitable walking shoes and swimwear if you hope to take a dip.
Pilbara Coastal Wildlife Lookout
Pause at a Pilbara coastal lookout to scan the water for marine wildlife. In season, migrating humpback whales may pass offshore, while snubfin dolphins are another possible sighting.
The vantage point reveals the meeting of the region’s mineral-rich red earth and the Indian Ocean. Wildlife sightings depend on the season and the movements of wild animals, but the coastal view is rewarding in its own right.
Coral Bay Sunset Cruise
Cruise the waters off Coral Bay at sunset and watch the Ningaloo coastline change colour in the evening light. Enjoy a sea-level view of the shore while looking out for dolphins or, in season, humpback whales.
This relaxed outing offers a different perspective on the reef-fringed coast without requiring a swim. Marine wildlife remains wild, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. The cruise is at additional cost and bookable on tour, subject to availability.
