AAT Kings

Explore Perth with a Local Expert Guide and walk through Kings Park and the Western Australian Botanic Garden, where spring brings orchids and kangaroo paws into bloom. Look for native birds among the garden’s diverse plant collections.

Overlooking the Swan River and city skyline, Kings Park offers an introduction to Western Australia’s extraordinary flora. The botanic garden showcases more than 3,000 species from across the state, including plants found nowhere else.

Join your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a welcome dinner in Perth. This hosted gathering offers a chance to meet the people sharing your Western Australian journey and talk over the landscapes and wildflowers ahead.

Rather than an independent meal, it is a shared opening to the tour. Settle into the company of the group, ask your Travel Director questions and enjoy a relaxed evening in the state capital.

Visit a local distillery on the route north of Perth for a look at how its distinctive spirits are made. Wander among the barrels and enjoy a private tasting of selected distillations.

The visit puts the craft behind the glass: production methods, time in the barrel and the choices that shape each spirit’s character. It is a flavour-focused encounter with a regional producer, with time to savour what makes its creations distinct.

Step onto the Kalbarri Skywalk, which projects 25 metres beyond the gorge rim above the Murchison River. Take in the red-and-white banded sandstone while an Indigenous guide offers a Welcome to Country and shares stories of the land.

On this MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience, learn about local bushfoods, medicinal plants and traditional uses of native flora. Your guide’s perspectives on growing up on Country and the region’s social history give the immense gorge a deeply human dimension.

Visit Lynton Station to explore a former convict depot and homestead dating from 1853. Its surviving limestone buildings offer a tangible glimpse of colonial-era life in Western Australia’s Midwest.

Walk among the historic structures and consider the people whose work and lives shaped this remote settlement. The modest buildings and open landscape make the site’s history feel close at hand, in marked contrast to the coastal scenery elsewhere on the tour.

See the changing colours of Hutt Lagoon, a vast salt lake near Western Australia’s coast. Depending on conditions, its water can appear pink, lilac or red, creating a vivid contrast with the surrounding landscape.

Pause to take in the broad expanse and photograph its shifting tones. High salinity is central to this unusual environment, while light and seasonal conditions influence the colours visible during your visit; no two views are guaranteed to look quite the same.

Visit the HMAS Sydney II Memorial on a hill overlooking Geraldton. Its setting above the coast provides space to reflect on the Australian warship and the crew lost when it sank during the Second World War.

Take in the memorial’s commemorative features and sweeping ocean outlook. The visit connects a national story of wartime loss to the waters off Western Australia, giving this stop a quieter, more reflective character than the region’s scenic attractions.

Explore the Geraldton–Mullewa region with a specialist wildflower guide, learning to recognise native blooms and hear the stories behind their names and traditional uses. Visit the town of Mullewa, especially noted for its wildflower-season setting.

At the Helen Ansell Art Gallery, see colourful paintings inspired by Western Australian flora and fauna. Together, the guided landscape exploration and artwork offer two ways to appreciate the Midwest’s remarkable botanical diversity. Flowers seen in the wild depend on seasonal conditions.

Walk among the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park, where limestone spires rise from yellow desert sand. View the formations at close range and take in the stark shapes and shadows of this distinctive Western Australian landscape.

Built from ancient shell-rich deposits and exposed through long natural processes, the pillars turn a geological story into something you can see and move through. Their varied heights and forms give the desert an almost sculptural appearance.

Share a farewell dinner in Perth with your Travel Director and fellow wildflower enthusiasts. This hosted meal brings the travelling group together to reflect on the blooms, landscapes and encounters experienced across Western Australia.

Conversation is part of the occasion: compare favourite flowers, recall the colours of Hutt Lagoon or the scale of Kalbarri’s gorges, and enjoy a final evening in one another’s company before the tour concludes.
