Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over a welcome dinner in Las Vegas. Share a meal and get acquainted with the people joining your journey through the American West.

Beyond the city’s bright lights lie the red-rock landscapes, mountain ranges and national parks at the heart of this tour. The dinner offers a convivial introduction to the region and a chance to hear what the journey holds.

Explore Zion National Park beneath towering cliffs banded in cream, pink and red. Travel through the canyon landscape, with opportunities to appreciate its rock formations, vegetation and the course of the Virgin River.

The river has helped carve this landscape over millions of years, while Indigenous peoples and later settlers have long known its paths. Look up at Zion’s sheer sandstone walls to grasp the scale that makes this Utah park so distinctive.

Discover Bryce Canyon’s hoodoos, slender limestone spires in shades of orange, pink and rusty red. Explore the visitor centre to learn about the park’s geology, and take in the formations on a scenic drive along Bryce Canyon Road.

Possible viewpoint stops include Sunrise Point, Sunset Point and Inspiration Point. Water and frost have shaped the rock into one of the world’s largest concentrations of hoodoos, creating a landscape that changes character with the light.

Explore Jackson’s Town Square beneath its distinctive arches made from shed elk antlers. Spend time in this Wyoming mountain town, where galleries, shops and Western-style saloons sit within sight of the Teton Range.

Jackson’s ranching roots remain visible alongside its contemporary outdoor culture. A stroll around the square offers a close-up look at that blend of Old West character and mountain-town life, rather than simply a view from the road.

Discover Grand Teton National Park with your Travel Director, taking in the Teton Range and the glacier-carved landscape around Jenny Lake. At the Craig Thomas Visitor Center, look out towards the peaks and explore exhibits about the park’s people, wildlife and preservation.

See the mountains rise sharply above the valley floor, a defining feature of this Wyoming landscape. Your Travel Director’s commentary adds context to the park’s Indigenous history, mountaineering heritage and protected alpine environment.

Explore Yellowstone with your Travel Director, visiting highlights that include Old Faithful, Yellowstone Lake and a geyser basin of steaming vents, bubbling mud pots and hot springs. Watch for wildlife as you travel through the park’s varied terrain.

At Artist Point, view the Lower Falls plunging into the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Established in 1872 as the first US national park, Yellowstone protects an extraordinary concentration of geothermal features alongside forests, valleys and waterways.

Visit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming, a complex bringing five museums together in one place. Explore exhibits on Plains Indian cultures, Western art, historic firearms and the natural world of the Greater Yellowstone region.

Learn about William F. Cody, the scout and showman known as Buffalo Bill, and examine how stories of the American West have been told. Works by artists including Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell add another perspective on the region’s history.

Meet beef advocate Chaley Harney and local chef Stephen Hindman at the historic Billings Depot. Hear how the arrival of the railroad shaped Montana’s cattle industry, and enjoy a three-course meal featuring locally sourced beef, paired with regional beer and wine.

The depot provides a fitting setting for stories of ranching and rail travel. This hosted dining experience connects the food on the table with the people and working traditions of Montana’s cattle country.

Visit the base of Crazy Horse Memorial with a Local Specialist for a close view of the vast mountain carving in South Dakota’s Black Hills. Hear about the memorial’s origins and the continuing work on its depiction of the Oglala Lakota leader on horseback.

Lakota elder Henry Standing Bear commissioned sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski to begin the project in 1948. The unfinished monument invites reflection on Native American history, representation and the generations committed to its creation.

View Mount Rushmore National Memorial and photograph the four presidential faces carved into the granite of the Black Hills: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The viewing area offers a clear perspective on the sculpture’s immense scale.

Completed in 1941, the memorial reflects a particular telling of US history through its choice of presidents. A visit also places the monument within the Black Hills, a landscape of profound significance to Lakota people.

Meet Stephen Yellowhawk in Rapid City for an evening of dance, song and personal storytelling. Hear him share family and tribal history, cultural traditions and the meaning behind his work as a performer.

Raised by grandparents from Lakota and Onondaga Iroquois backgrounds, Stephen has spent more than two decades sharing Native American culture through performance. This hosted encounter offers a personal perspective on living traditions and supports efforts to reduce inequalities.

Enjoy live country music with the Bryce Canyon Wranglers at Ebenezer’s Barn & Grill, accompanied by a BBQ dinner. The performance brings a lively Western soundtrack to an evening near Bryce Canyon.

Country songs, a shared meal and the barn-style setting offer a different way to experience the region beyond its national-park scenery. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Float gently along the Snake River with a guide in Grand Teton National Park. Take in views of the Teton Range from the water and watch the riverbanks for wildlife as your guide explains the park’s natural environment.

The unhurried pace offers a different perspective on this mountain landscape, where the river winds through a broad valley beneath steep peaks. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

See Mount Rushmore illuminated at night during an evening visit with a Park Ranger. Watch the carved faces emerge from the darkness as lighting draws attention to the granite sculpture above the memorial grounds.

The evening setting gives this familiar landmark a quieter, more dramatic character than a daytime viewing. Ranger-led context adds depth to the experience. This optional excursion is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Explore Badlands National Park, where sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles and spires rise beside South Dakota’s mixed-grass prairie. Take in the layered rock formations and wide-open views of this strikingly sculpted landscape.

The park’s sedimentary layers reveal a long geological history, while its prairie protects a habitat distinct from the Black Hills. This optional excursion offers a contrasting view of the region and is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
