Additional information

Lift off over the “Hot Air Balloon Capital of the World” and float above the Rio Grande Valley as the Sandia Mountains blush pink at dawn. Gentle winds carry you across a checkerboard of desert and cottonwood bosque.

Pilot commentary adds local color while panoramic views unfold in every direction. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour; weather and operational conditions apply.

Visit the desert’s most idiosyncratic roadside art as you visit Cadillac Ranch, a Route 66 icon where ten classic Caddies are nose-down in the Texas earth. Wander the ever-changing canvas of spray-painted tailfins and capture surreal photos against the vast Panhandle sky.

Dreamed up by the art collective Ant Farm in 1974, the installation charts the rise of America’s chrome era. Layers of color, open horizons and a playful spirit turn this stretch of prairie into a living, open-air gallery.

Explore New Mexico’s living heritage at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, where you’ll learn about Pueblo history and living traditions through exhibits, art and story. Engage with community educators and admire pottery, weaving and mural work that speak to centuries of culture.

Founded by the 19 Pueblos, the center is a community-owned hub preserving language, foodways and ceremony. Seasonal dance performances and artisan demonstrations illuminate resilience and identity in the high desert.

Discover Canyonlands National Park, where the Colorado and Green Rivers have carved a vast labyrinth of buttes and mesas. Stand at lofty overlooks on the Island in the Sky district and trace stone horizons that seem to run to infinity.

Wind-etched arches, cryptobiotic soils and striated cliffs reveal the geologic story of the Colorado Plateau. Iconic stops like the photogenic Mesa Arch and Grand View Point invite you to pause for photos and reflection on the region’s scale and solitude.

Explore Arches National Park, home to more than 2,000 natural arches sculpted from Entrada sandstone. Walk among the Windows Section, gaze up at Delicate Arch, and marvel at Balanced Rock as desert light ignites the rock into reds and golds.

Eons of freeze-thaw have hollowed fins into arches, creating a landscape that feels both fragile and monumental. Short trails and viewpoints bring you close to the textures, shadows and silence of Utah’s high desert.

Visit Capitol Reef National Park for sweeping views of domes, cliffs and canyons shaped by the 100-mile-long Waterpocket Fold. Travel the park’s scenic road and stop for photos as creamy Navajo sandstone gives way to deep vermilion walls.

Discover the historic Fruita orchards and spot petroglyphs carved by Fremont peoples centuries ago. This quieter corner of Utah rewards unhurried exploration with geology on grand display and intimate oases along the Fremont River.

Walk the rim for commanding views of Bryce Canyon National Park, where thousands of spindled hoodoos rise from natural amphitheaters. From Sunset Point and Inspiration Point, watch the rock glow through coral, pink and apricot hues.

Freeze-thaw erosion and iron minerals create the hoodoos’ fantastical shapes and colors. Trails like the Navajo Loop drop among stone “totems,” while easy overlooks invite you to pause for photos and reflection on one of the Southwest’s most photogenic spectacles.

Journey into Zion National Park, where towering Navajo sandstone cliffs frame cottonwoods and a clear river. Choose accessible paths like the Riverside Walk or Emerald Pools to experience hanging gardens, birdsong and cool alcoves beneath cathedral-like walls.

Named “Zion” by early settlers for its sanctuary-like feel, the canyon reveals geology in crimson layers. Switchbacks, waterfalls and shaded grottoes offer a serene counterpoint to the park’s soaring vertical drama.

Visit the famed Horseshoe Bend overlook to see the Colorado River curve in a perfect meander 300 meters below. A short desert walk leads to a guarded rim where emerald water contrasts with sun-baked Navajo sandstone.

Wind and water have sculpted this photogenic bend over millions of years. Wide-angle views, desert varnish streaks and shifting shadows make this a prime spot to pause for photos and reflection on nature’s slow artistry.

Take in vast views over Lake Powell, the blue heart of Glen Canyon surrounded by sculpted Navajo sandstone. Watch light dance on coves and buttes, and photograph the meeting of water, rock and sky.

Created by Glen Canyon Dam in the 1960s, the reservoir reveals sinuous shorelines and hidden side canyons. Even from viewpoints, its scale and silence capture the drama of the desert’s carved stone seascape.

Witness sunset at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park as buttes and temples shift from ochre to amethyst. Stroll a section of the Rim Trail for open vistas without steep climbs, letting the canyon’s scale sink in.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the canyon exposes nearly two billion years of geologic time. Overlooks near Mather Point and Yavapai reveal stratified layers and the distant sparkle of the Colorado far below.

Call into Seligman on Historic Route 66 for classic neon, retro storefronts and tailfinned Americana. Snap portraits by murals, vintage gas pumps and chrome-bright classics that celebrate the lore of the Mother Road.

Preserved by passionate locals after the interstate bypassed the town, Seligman keeps mid-century road-trip culture alive. It’s a chance to pause for photos and reflection on small-town resilience and open-road romance.

Arrive in style as you cruise the Las Vegas Strip past gilded resorts, cascading fountains and neon art. Jump out for a snapshot at the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign before soaking up the city’s electric buzz.

From the Bellagio’s choreography to the Luxor’s sky-piercing beam, this neon canyon blends spectacle and showmanship. It’s the quintessential Sin City introduction—glittering, theatrical and pure fun.

Clip in and zip across Front Range canyons on multi-line courses strung between ponderosa pines and granite outcrops. Feel the mountain air and scan for mule deer as you glide above creeks and forest.

Guides handle safety and technique so you can savor the scenery and speed. This adventure is at additional cost and bookable on tour; weight and footwear requirements apply.

Head off-piste on a guided 4×4 off-road safari across Moab’s famous slickrock fins and desert ledges. Your driver navigates steep pitches and sandstone steps to reveal hidden viewpoints over canyons and the Colorado River.

This heart-thumping outing showcases the area’s wild geology from a rugged angle. It’s at additional cost and bookable on tour; routes vary with conditions and group ability.

Saddle up for a wrangler-led ride along Bryce’s rim-and-canyon trails, where red hoodoos tower like stone sentinels. The measured pace lets you take in juniper scents, sweeping views and the crunch of hooves on cinder.

It’s an evocative way to experience the plateau’s pioneer routes and sculpted amphitheaters. This activity is at additional cost and bookable on tour; age and weight limits apply.

Step beneath one of America’s clearest night skies for a guided stargazing session in an International Dark Sky Park. See the Milky Way arch overhead as laser pointers trace constellations and distant planets shimmer.

With minimal light pollution, Bryce’s high elevation makes the heavens feel close enough to touch. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour; telescopes and red lights are typically provided.

Take to the sky on a helicopter over the Grand Canyon, lifting from Tusayan across the Kaibab National Forest and into the dramatic Dragon Corridor. Look straight down into temples, buttes and the silver ribbon of the Colorado.

Aerial narration adds geologic context as colors shift with the sun’s angle. This flight is at additional cost and bookable on tour; weather, seating and weight regulations apply.

Dress to the nines for hosted entry at a premier venue where you’ll skip the line and dive into Vegas nightlife. DJ sets, dazzling light shows and a curated crowd set the tone for an epic evening.

Venues rotate with the calendar to keep things fresh. This add-on is at additional cost and bookable on tour; ID and dress codes are enforced by the club.

Pull up a chair at The Big Texan Steak Ranch to witness—or attempt—the legendary 72-oz Steak Challenge. It’s a one-hour race against time with sides included, cheered on in a lively, boots-and-neon dining hall.

An Amarillo institution since the 1960s, the challenge is a slice of roadside folklore. This dining experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour; finish it in time and the meal’s on the house.
