Additional information
Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge Cruise
Cruise Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge through the sandstone landscape of Nitmiluk National Park. Watch the cliffs change colour in the light and take in the scale of the gorge from the water.
Nitmiluk lies on Jawoyn Country, where the landscape is part of a living culture. This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience supports the Traditional Owners, adding cultural significance to one of the Northern Territory’s most striking natural sights.
Durack Homestead Museum
Step inside the Durack Homestead Museum near Kununurra to explore a piece of the East Kimberley’s pastoral history. The homestead was relocated before its original site was flooded by the Ord River development.
Its survival makes the building a tangible link between the region’s earlier station life and the irrigation scheme that reshaped the surrounding land. Discover how that ambitious project created new farmland and the vast waters of Lake Argyle.
Mirima National Park Guided Walk
Walk through Mirima National Park near Kununurra with your Travel Director, exploring the rugged rock formations often nicknamed the “mini Bungles”. Take in the views while hearing how this landscape was formed.
Mirima’s weathered sandstone brings the geological character of the Kimberley close to town. This guided walk is an included, ground-level way to experience the region’s distinctive shapes and colours, offered as an alternative to optional scenic excursions.
Darwin Waterfront Welcome Dinner
Share a welcome dinner at a Darwin waterfront restaurant, with the warm evening air and harbour setting providing an introduction to life in the Top End.
This hosted meal is a chance to meet your fellow travellers over dinner before exploring the Kimberley together. Darwin’s waterfront brings a relaxed, outdoor atmosphere to the gathering, making it more than a routine hotel meal.
Adelaide River War Cemetery Visit
Visit Adelaide River War Cemetery to reflect on the Northern Territory’s role in the Second World War. Walk among the graves and memorials in this quiet, carefully tended place south of Darwin.
The cemetery commemorates people who died during the conflict, including casualties connected with the wartime attacks on northern Australia. Its stillness gives a human scale to a chapter of history often told through aircraft, ships and military campaigns.

Darwin City Sights Tour
Discover Australia’s tropical northern capital on a Darwin city sights tour, taking in its distinctive architecture, the Botanic Gardens and coastal views from East Point Reserve.
Hear how the 1942 bombing of Darwin and Cyclone Tracy in 1974 shaped the city you see today. The tour offers a grounded introduction to Darwin’s history as well as its open-air, waterfront character.
Katherine Outback Experience
Experience the Katherine Outback Experience, an entertaining introduction to rural life in the Northern Territory. Songs, stories and humour bring the people and character of the outback into focus.
Rather than viewing the landscape only from the road, this hosted experience offers a chance to hear how life is lived in the region. Its informal style and lively storytelling provide a distinctly local perspective on the country surrounding Katherine.
Ord River Cruise
Cruise the Ord River near Kununurra and look for freshwater crocodiles and birdlife along its banks. From the water, the river offers a different perspective on the East Kimberley’s broad skies and rugged terrain.
The Ord is closely tied to the irrigation scheme that transformed the region, creating farmland and changing the surrounding waterways. A cruise pairs that story with the quieter pleasure of observing wildlife in its riverside habitat.
Hoochery Distillery Visit
Go behind the scenes at Hoochery Distillery near Kununurra to learn how its rums and whiskies are made. Enjoy morning tea and hear about the production of spirits at this long-established local distillery.
The visit offers a taste of the East Kimberley’s independent food-and-drink scene, where local enterprise has grown alongside the Ord River region. There is time for a tasting if you choose; the itinerary does not specify whether tasting is included in the tour price.
Wyndham Town and Wetlands Exploration
Explore Wyndham, Western Australia’s northernmost town, and take in the landforms and wetlands around this remote Kimberley settlement. Its small-town character sits against an expansive landscape of waterways and rugged country.
The visit offers a sense of the scale and isolation of the northern Kimberley. Looking out across the surrounding terrain makes Wyndham’s setting as much a part of the experience as the town itself.
Mimbi Caves Indigenous-Guided Experience
Explore Mimbi Caves with an Indigenous guide, observing limestone formations, vivid colours, freshwater pools and ancient rock paintings. Hear a Gooniyandi Dreaming story and share billy tea and damper.
The caves preserve traces of the Devonian reef formed more than 350 million years ago, bringing deep geological time together with continuing cultural knowledge. This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience offers a guided encounter with a place whose meaning extends well beyond its striking formations.
Broome Tour
Get your bearings on a tour of Broome, the Indian Ocean town whose growth was closely tied to the pearling industry. The itinerary confirms a Broome tour but does not name its stops or specify its format.
The experience provides an introduction to the town’s character before independent exploration. Broome’s pearling heritage and coastal setting distinguish it from the inland Kimberley landscapes, offering a different perspective on this corner of Western Australia.
Purnululu and Bungle Bungles Scenic Flight
Fly over Purnululu National Park for an aerial view of the beehive-shaped Bungle Bungle Range. From above, the clustered sandstone domes reveal patterns and scale that are difficult to grasp from ground level.
This World Heritage-listed landscape is one of the Kimberley’s defining sights. The scenic flight is an optional Choice Experience at additional cost, bookable on tour, for travellers who want to see its distinctive formations from the air.
Kimberley 4WD Choice Experience
Choose a 4WD tour from Kununurra for a ground-based way to explore Kimberley scenery. The itinerary offers this Choice Experience as an alternative to a scenic flight or the included walk in Mirima National Park.
A 4WD outing brings you closer to the region’s rugged terrain, though the published itinerary does not identify a specific route or destination. This is an optional experience at additional cost, bookable on tour; check the available route and inclusions with your Travel Director.
