Arrive at Ayers Rock Airport before 16:00 and make your way to the front of the terminal for a complimentary transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, an AAT Kings Guide transfers you from your accommodation to an exclusive barbecue site in Uluru National Park. Enjoy Australian meats and salads with a glass of wine, beer or orange juice, followed by tea, coffee and dessert. Weather permitting, your guide leads a tour of the night sky, points out visible constellations and shares Aboriginal stories about the stars before returning to Ayers Rock Resort. Special dietary requests must be advised before 14:00 on the day of joining the tour.

Meals: Dinner

Travel early to Talinguru Nyakunytjaku, the Uluru Sunrise Viewing Area, and watch sunrise with tea or coffee. Continue to Kata Tjuta, stopping at a dune viewing platform for panoramic views before exploring Walpa Gorge and its 1.3 km walking trail. Return to the resort for free time. In the afternoon, visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, then travel around Uluru’s base by coach as your Driver Guide provides commentary on sacred sites, native flora and fauna, and Anangu culture. Walk with your guide to Mutitjulu Waterhole via the Kuniya Walk. In the late afternoon, watch the changing colours of Uluru at sunset with sparkling wine.

Experience Bruce Munro’s Field of Light, walking among 50,000 illuminated glass spheres. Then make your way to the dune top for tea, coffee or hot chocolate and watch the sun rise behind Uluru, lighting the landscape and Kata Tjuta. This dedicated viewpoint offers space to take in Uluru’s scale and silhouette. The stillness of early morning gives the experience a character distinct from sunset, with the desert gradually emerging from shadow.

  • Leisurely

Enjoy an Australian barbecue among red dunes and desert oaks at an exclusive site within Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Share a selection of meats and salads, with beer, wine or a soft drink, in a setting away from the resort lights.

Look up as your guide leads a tour of the southern night sky, pointing out visible constellations and sharing Aboriginal stories associated with the stars. The astronomy experience depends on clear weather, but the quiet desert setting is part of the evening’s appeal.

Discover the 36 domes of Kata Tjuta from a dune viewing platform, with panoramic views across their southern side. Join a guided walk into Walpa Gorge, following a 1.3-kilometre trail along a natural creek bed between two of the tallest domes.

See the close-up textures of the domes’ conglomerate rock, a striking contrast to Uluru’s sandstone. The gorge walk involves uneven ground and calls for a moderate level of fitness; its sheltered passage offers a different perspective on this remarkable landscape.

Visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to learn about the region through the perspectives of its traditional owners, the A?angu. Explore displays that introduce the cultural significance of the landscape and the enduring connections between its people and Country.

The centre adds essential context to the places seen throughout the national park. Its focus on A?angu culture helps visitors appreciate that Uluru and Kata Tjuta are not simply geological landmarks, but part of a living cultural landscape.

Explore Uluru’s base with Driver Guide commentary on its sacred sites, natural features, plants and wildlife. Take the Kuniya Walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole, where your guide introduces the Kuniya and Liru stories associated with this place.

The short guided walk brings you close to a waterhole that holds deep significance for the A?angu. Seeing the landscape at ground level reveals details easily missed from a distance and offers a more considered understanding of Uluru’s cultural importance.

Watch Uluru change colour at sunset while enjoying a glass of sparkling wine. From a viewing area in the national park, observe how the lowering light shifts the rock’s appearance through warm reds and deeper tones against the open desert sky.

The experience centres on Uluru’s changing relationship with the light, rather than a walk around its base. It offers time to pause, take photographs and appreciate the scale of the landmark as the desert settles into evening.

Walk through Bruce Munro’s Field of Light beneath the pre-dawn sky. The installation’s 50,000 handcrafted frosted-glass spheres glow in ochre, violet, blue and white, spreading across the desert like a field of illuminated stems.

From a dune-top viewpoint, enjoy tea, coffee or hot chocolate as sunrise lights Uluru and Kata Tjuta in the distance. This experience pairs contemporary art with the natural light of the desert, giving each a distinctive presence.
