Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over a welcome dinner in Athens. It is a hosted opportunity to settle into the group and share your first impressions of the Greek capital.

Conversation turns to the places and traditions that shape the journey ahead, from ancient sanctuaries to island communities. The evening offers a sociable introduction to travelling together, rather than a formal sightseeing activity.

Explore Athens with a Local Expert on one of two included Insight Choice activities. See the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Arch of Hadrian before ascending the Acropolis to admire the Parthenon and its commanding city views.

Examine the Temple of Athena Nike and the Caryatids of the Erechtheion. These monuments reveal how worship, civic identity and artistry shaped ancient Athens. Travellers choose this guided ancient-sites experience or the guided Plaka walk.

Walk through Plaka with your Travel Director on one of two included Insight Choice activities. Explore the narrow streets and tucked-away corners of this historic neighbourhood beneath the Acropolis, often called the Neighbourhood of the Gods.

Look for layers of Athens’ past among its older houses and lively pedestrian lanes. The guided walk introduces Plaka’s character, with time to browse the shops and cafés along Adrianou. Travellers choose this experience or the guided ancient-sites visit.

Visit the monument to King Leonidas near Thermopylae, the pass associated with the Greek defence against the Persian army of Xerxes I in 480 BC. Take in the memorial and the landscape that gives the battle its enduring significance.

Here, a Spartan-led force used a narrow route to delay a much larger army. Although the coastline has shifted since antiquity, the terrain’s strategic importance remains central to the story commemorated by the statue.

Get to know Kalambaka with your Travel Director in the town at the foot of Meteora’s towering rock formations. This orientation introduces the setting of a community closely connected to the monasteries above it.

Look up at sandstone pillars rising beyond the town and gain a sense of the scale that has drawn hermits and monastic communities to the area for centuries. The experience offers local context for one of mainland Greece’s most distinctive landscapes.

Visit a Meteora monastery with a Local Expert and see how centuries-old buildings perch on immense rock towers above the Peneios Valley. Explore one of the monasteries within this UNESCO World Heritage landscape and take in the far-reaching views.

Monastic communities established themselves on these secluded heights from the medieval period, creating places of worship amid an unusual natural setting. The visit brings together Orthodox heritage, remarkable architecture and the sheer scale of the surrounding stone pinnacles.

Follow Delphi’s Sacred Way with a Local Expert up the slope of Mount Parnassus. Pass the Treasury of the Athenians and the carefully fitted stones of the Polygonal Wall as you approach the Temple of Apollo.

In antiquity, visitors from across the Greek world came to consult Apollo’s oracle about matters of public and private importance. Walking through the sanctuary reveals how religion, politics and monumental offerings met at this celebrated hillside site.

Explore the archaeological site of Olympia, birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games. See the remains of the Temple of Zeus and the athletes’ gymnasium, and enter the ancient stadium where competitors raced before spectators.

Find the stone marker associated with the sprint’s starting line and pause for a photograph. The site also hosted the Heraia, games honouring Hera, offering a broader glimpse of the athletic and religious traditions rooted in this sanctuary.

Join a local chef for a Greek cooking demonstration in Olympia. Learn how to make tzatziki and discover other regional dishes as the chef shares an approach built around local ingredients and carefully made food.

Taste the dishes prepared for dinner and experience familiar Greek flavours in the setting of a hosted culinary event. The demonstration makes the meal more than a dining stop: it offers a practical introduction to the techniques and ingredients behind regional cooking.

Enter Mycenae through the Lion Gate with a Local Expert and walk among the citadel’s massive Cyclopean walls. Visit the royal beehive-shaped tombs and explore the remains of a powerful centre of Late Bronze Age Greece.

The scale of the stonework hints at the resources and authority of Mycenaean rulers. Archaeological discoveries connect the site to a society of far-reaching trade, while its legends have kept Mycenae prominent in Greek storytelling for centuries.

Explore Nafplio with your Travel Director and get acquainted with its neoclassical buildings, colourful streets and waterfront promenades. Look towards Palamidi fortress, which rises above this harbour town on the Peloponnese coast.

Nafplio served as Greece’s first capital following independence, a history reflected in its public architecture. The orientation offers a way to understand the town’s civic past while enjoying the contrast between its elegant streets, fortified heights and seaside setting.

Meet artisan Maria Gonidou and her daughter Nefeli at their Nafplio atelier for a live demonstration of traditional hand weaving. Watch Maria work on an ancient loom and learn how patient, practiced techniques turn threads into handmade textiles.

Browse the one-of-a-kind pieces in the family’s boutique and hear why passing these skills between generations matters. This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience supports a family-run craft and helps safeguard Greece’s weaving heritage.

Savour a hosted Greek dinner in Athens featuring seasonal dishes built around ingredients such as olive oil, grains, legumes and coastal produce. Enjoy the meal with wines made from native Greek grape varieties.

From mainland vineyards to island growing regions, those wines offer a taste of the country’s varied landscapes. Shared food, wine and conversation make this a distinctly Greek dining experience, with regional flavours at the centre of the evening.

Explore the prehistoric site of Akrotiri on Santorini on an Optional Experience, at additional cost and bookable on tour. Walk through the remains of a Bronze Age settlement preserved beneath volcanic material and see evidence of a once-thriving island community.

The covered archaeological site reveals streets and buildings that offer a rare view of everyday life before a major volcanic eruption. It is an opportunity to discover the deep history beneath Santorini’s whitewashed villages and volcanic scenery.
