Explore Darwin on a city tour that introduces the Northern Territory’s tropical capital and the stories behind its streets and waterfront. See the city’s sights and attractions with your Travel Director as you get your bearings.

Darwin’s character reflects its coastal setting, multicultural communities and resilient history. This guided introduction offers context for the places you see and a closer sense of life in Australia’s Top End.

Explore Litchfield National Park, visiting Florence Falls and Wangi Falls amid sandstone country, waterholes and monsoon forest. At Wangi Falls, take a swim in the natural pool when conditions and Northern Territory Parks access permit.

See the park’s imposing termite mounds, built with intricate internal chambers by insects adapted to the Top End’s climate. The contrast between open woodland, sheltered forest and falling water makes this a distinctive introduction to the region’s landscapes.

Cruise through Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge and look up at ancient sandstone walls rising above the waterways. A series of gorges has been carved through this landscape, creating striking views from the water.

This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experience offers an opportunity to learn about the Jawoyn people’s connection to Nitmiluk and the cultural significance of the gorge. The cruise brings its geology and living heritage into focus without separating one from the other.

Watch Tom Curtain’s award-winning Katherine Outback Experience, a live presentation of the skills and traditions associated with Northern Territory station life. See an engaging account of the region’s pastoral culture rather than simply hearing about it from the roadside.

Based in Katherine, the experience opens a window onto the people, working animals and practices that have shaped life on remote properties. It offers a human perspective on a landscape often celebrated for its vastness.

Browse the Mindil Beach Sunset Market with guidance from your Travel Director, who will point out the range of cuisines on offer. Follow the aromas through the stalls and choose what appeals, from Japanese and Greek dishes to a bowl of laksa.

Set beside Darwin’s western shoreline, the market brings together local makers, food vendors and residents beneath a Top End sunset. Food purchases are at your own expense.

Take a dip in Katherine Hot Springs, where warm spring-fed water offers a gentle pause from exploring the Top End. Settle into the pools and enjoy the contrast between the water’s warmth and the greenery around this Katherine attraction.

The springs offer a different way to experience the region’s water-shaped landscape: not from a lookout or a boat, but by stepping into it. Bring swimwear if you would like to bathe.

Cruise Yellow Water Billabong in Kakadu National Park with a local guide who shares insights into its waterways and wildlife. Watch the banks and shallows for birds and the saltwater crocodiles that inhabit this wetland environment.

Part of Kakadu’s World Heritage-listed landscape, Yellow Water reveals the scale and ecological richness of the Top End’s floodplains. This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experience lets you observe the billabong from the water while learning what makes it distinctive.

Walk with a guide to Aboriginal rock art in Kakadu National Park, including the Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) and Ubirr rock art sites. View paintings that offer insight into one of Australia’s oldest living cultural landscapes and its enduring connection to Country.

Lookout climbs involve uneven rocky paths and steps, but easier routes allow visitors to see rock art without reaching the summits. These sites bring Kakadu’s cultural heritage into focus alongside its escarpments and wetlands.

See Kakadu from the air on an optional scenic flight above its wetlands, rugged escarpments and remote country. The elevated view reveals patterns and distances that are difficult to appreciate from ground level.

Kakadu’s World Heritage listing recognises both its natural and cultural significance, and the flight offers a fresh perspective on the scale of this protected landscape. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Cruise Darwin Harbour at sunset aboard the Charles Darwin on a two-hour dinner cruise. From the air-conditioned main deck, enjoy harbour views, onboard commentary and a Territory-style buffet featuring Australian seafood and local produce.

The changing light over the water gives a different perspective on the coastal capital. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour; participation requires an additional night’s accommodation in Darwin after the tour.
