Basel Old Town Orientation
Join your Travel Director for an orientation of Basel, discovering Old Town streets, medieval squares and historic fountains near the Rhine. Look for the contrast between long-established architecture and the contemporary art and design for which the city is known.
Basel stands where Switzerland, France and Germany meet, a position that has shaped its cultural outlook. The walk introduces a city of cross-border influences and helps reveal why it has become one of Switzerland’s leading cultural centres.
Zürich Farewell Dinner
Share a farewell dinner in Zurich with your Travel Director and travelling companions. This hosted meal is an opportunity to gather around the table and reflect on the places, landscapes and local encounters experienced across Switzerland and its neighbouring regions.
In Switzerland’s largest city, the occasion offers a convivial close to the group journey. Toast the shared discoveries and enjoy time together before travellers go their separate ways.
Geneva Welcome Dinner
Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over dinner at a local restaurant in Geneva. This hosted gathering offers a chance to settle into the group and share your first impressions of Switzerland.
Geneva’s dining culture reflects its position at the crossroads of Swiss and French influences. Around the table, get a taste of local hospitality in a city known as much for its lakeside setting as for its international outlook.
Geneva City Orientation
Explore Geneva with an orientation tour led by your Travel Director. Take in views of the city and its setting beside Lake Geneva, with the Alps and Jura mountains framing the wider landscape.
Home to international organisations yet rooted in Swiss traditions, Geneva has a character shaped by both diplomacy and its historic lakeside streets. This introduction helps you get your bearings and appreciate the meeting of global culture and local heritage.
Montreux Lakeside Orientation
Discover Montreux with your Travel Director in this resort town tucked between Lake Geneva and steep Alpine slopes. Get acquainted with the town and its celebrated waterfront, where palm trees and mountain views create a striking contrast.
Montreux’s mild lakeside climate and long-standing appeal to visitors give it a distinctive Riviera atmosphere. The orientation offers an introduction to one of Lake Geneva’s most scenic promenades and the town that grew around it.
Scenic Train Ride from Montreux to Gstaad
Ride the train from Montreux to Gstaad and watch the scenery shift from the shores of Lake Geneva to the Swiss Alps. The rail journey is an experience in its own right, with mountain landscapes unfolding outside the window.
Gstaad sits amid the valleys and peaks of the Bernese Oberland. Travelling by rail lets you take in the changing Alpine panorama at a measured pace, rather than simply passing through it on the way to another destination.
Freiburg im Breisgau Old Town Orientation
Discover Freiburg’s Old Town with your Travel Director, seeing the Historical Merchants’ Hall, the Old Town Hall and the red-sandstone Freiburg Munster. Explore the streets and squares of this lively city on the edge of the Black Forest.
Freiburg’s medieval centre is known for its narrow water channels, called Bächle, which run beside many Old Town streets. The orientation brings together the city’s trading history, distinctive architecture and close connection to the surrounding region.
Chillon Castle Visit
Visit Chillon Castle on the shore of Lake Geneva near Montreux. Explore a medieval fortress set directly beside the water, where towers and stone walls frame views across the lake.
Chillon’s lakeside position helped its rulers control a strategic route through the region, and the castle later inspired writers including Lord Byron. This optional visit offers a closer look at centuries of lakeside history. It is available at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Mount Pilatus Excursion
Discover Mount Pilatus on an optional excursion from Lucerne. Head into the mountain landscape above the city for elevated views of Lake Lucerne and the surrounding Alps, weather permitting.
Pilatus is one of the peaks most closely associated with Lucerne, rising sharply above the lakeshore. Its outlook offers a different perspective on the scenery seen from the city’s streets and waterfront. The excursion is available at additional cost and bookable on tour; your Travel Director can confirm arrangements.
Lavaux Vineyard Visit and Be My Guest Lunch
Join a vineyard owner for a hosted lunch in Bourg-en-Lavaux, overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps. Savour local wines, cheeses and breads while hearing about life in this wine-growing landscape.
The terraced vineyards of Lavaux have been cultivated for centuries and are recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Meeting a local host brings the region’s traditions into focus, with the lake, vines and mountains providing the setting for a distinctly Swiss welcome.
Lucerne Old Town Orientation, Chapel Bridge and Lion Monument
Walk Lucerne’s cobbled Old Town with your Travel Director and see the Old Town Hall and Chapel Bridge, the city’s historic covered wooden bridge. View the Lion Monument, carved into rock as a memorial to Swiss Guards who died during the French Revolution.
Set beside Lake Lucerne, the city brings medieval streets and Alpine scenery together. Its landmarks tell different sides of the Swiss story, from the bridge’s centuries-old role in the city to the monument’s quiet expression of remembrance.
Colmar Guided Walk
Explore Colmar with your Travel Director, walking among colourful half-timbered houses, canal-lined lanes and cobbled squares. See the details that give this French Alsatian town its distinctive streetscape.
Colmar’s architecture reflects a long history in a region shaped by French and German cultures. Its preserved old centre has drawn artists, winemakers and visitors for centuries; on foot, there is time to notice the painted facades and waterside corners that define its character.
Hofgut Sternen Black Forest Craft Demonstration
Visit Hofgut Sternen, a historic estate at the entrance to Germany’s Ravenna Gorge. Browse its cuckoo clock shop and watch a demonstration of Black Forest craftsmanship, learning how a traditional regional craft is kept alive.
Cuckoo clocks have long been associated with the Black Forest’s woodworking heritage. Seeing the craft at this forest-side estate offers a more tangible connection to the region than a shop-window display alone, amid the wooded landscape that gives the area its name.
Zürich Old Town and Community-Led Walking Tour
Explore Zurich’s historic centre, crossing the Munster Bridge and visiting Paradeplatz and Lindenhof Square. Join Diana and her team of socially engaged local guides for a community-led Old Town walk that adds local perspectives to the city’s familiar sights.
Hear stories about food insecurity and the people working to address inequality in Zurich. This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experience connects the city’s heritage with present-day life and directly supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities.
Lake Geneva Cruise and Chaplin Museum Visit
Cruise Lake Geneva from the Montreux area and enjoy views of the shoreline and surrounding mountains from the water. This optional experience also includes a visit to a museum dedicated to Charlie Chaplin, who spent his later years near the lake.
The combination pairs the region’s scenery with a connection to film history. It is available at additional cost and bookable on tour; ask your Travel Director for the planned route and museum details.
