Additional information

Explore Zion National Park, where red and cream sandstone cliffs rise above the Virgin River. Visit the park’s Visitor Centre and choose a walking path that lets you experience the scale of Zion Canyon from beneath its towering walls.

The river has cut through layers of ancient rock to create one of the Southwest’s most distinctive canyon landscapes. Look for shifting colours in the cliffs as you take in the scenery at your own pace.

Walk with your Travel Director along the rim of Bryce Canyon National Park and look out across amphitheatres filled with orange, pink and cream hoodoos. Viewpoints reveal slender spires and ridges stretching below the Paunsaugunt Plateau.

These formations owe their intricate shapes largely to water seeping into cracks, freezing and breaking the rock apart. If you wish, explore a trail among the formations for a closer sense of their height and texture.

Visit Cameron Trading Post in northern Arizona, where Native American artwork and crafts are displayed against a backdrop of open desert. Browse the historic stop and see work reflecting artistic traditions of the region.

Established in the early 20th century, the trading post has long served travellers crossing this part of the Colorado Plateau. Its setting offers a glimpse of the distances and landscapes that shape life in the Southwest.

Walk with your Travel Director between Grand Canyon viewpoints, looking across the mile-deep chasm as ridges recede into the distance. Meet geologist Canyon Tim at the South Rim for a talk that brings the landscape’s visible rock layers into focus.

Learn how the Colorado River and other geological forces helped shape this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The immense views make the canyon’s scale immediate; Tim’s insights help explain the long history recorded in its walls.

Spend time exploring Grand Canyon National Park at the South Rim. Follow a section of the Rim Trail on foot, visit the Visitor Center or step into a historic lodge while taking in views across the canyon.

The rim offers changing perspectives on cliffs, ravines and the Colorado River far below. Moving between viewpoints lets you notice how light and shadow pick out different layers of stone across this vast landscape.

Explore Williams, a historic Route 66 town in northern Arizona. Take in its vintage signs and streetscapes, which evoke the era when motorists crossed the American West on the celebrated highway.

Known as the Gateway to the Grand Canyon, Williams retains a strong connection to road-trip culture. Its character offers a contrast to the nearby national parks: a lived-in piece of Americana shaped by generations of travellers.

Experience Ebenezer’s Dinner and Show near Bryce Canyon, combining an evening meal with live music and Wild West-style entertainment. Settle in for a performance that draws on the storytelling and showmanship associated with the American frontier.

It is a sociable way to spend an evening in Utah’s canyon country, with a different flavour from the park’s quiet trails and viewpoints. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Saddle up for a horseback ride through Water Canyon Amphitheatre and Bristlecone Pine Ridge near Bryce Canyon. Feel the steady pace of your horse as you travel through high-desert terrain and view the sculpted landscape from the trail.

Horseback travel recalls a longstanding way of moving through the American West. The ride offers a closer, slower perspective on this rugged setting. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Join a Navajo-owned and operated dinner show at Red Heritage in Page. Share a meal while experiencing a performance that offers an opportunity to engage with Navajo culture through music, dance and storytelling.

The experience brings living cultural expression into focus within a region whose landscapes are often the centre of attention. It is offered as an optional MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience, at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Hike through Owl Slot Canyon near Page, weaving between narrow sandstone walls as the passage bends through the rock. Up close, the canyon’s curves and textures reveal a more intimate side of the Southwest’s monumental scenery.

Slot canyons are shaped as water erodes sandstone over time, leaving confined corridors that feel strikingly different from an open canyon rim. This optional MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Travel into Monument Valley on an excursion from Page and take in its isolated sandstone buttes rising above the desert floor. The broad horizons and distinctive rock silhouettes create one of the American Southwest’s most recognisable landscapes.

Monument Valley lies within the Navajo Nation and holds cultural significance beyond its familiar appearance in films and photographs. This optional excursion offers time to experience the setting beyond a distant view; it is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Choose a helicopter or fixed-wing flight over the Grand Canyon for an aerial view of its cliffs, ravines and vast expanses of rock. Flight options may take in the South Rim, North Rim or Kaibab Plateau, revealing the terrain on a scale difficult to grasp from the ground.

From above, the canyon’s branching forms and layered walls come into sharper relief. This optional aerial experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour; the views depend on the flight selected.
