Glide beneath honey-colored ramparts, pass the lighthouse at Castello Maniace, and circle the freshwater spring of Fonte Aretusa. Your skipper points out sea grottoes and sculpted limestone while you pause for photos and reflection over dazzling Ionian blues.
Once the powerful heart of ancient Syracuse, Ortigia’s skyline reveals layers from Greek colony to Norman stronghold. As you skim the water, trace the outlines of the Temple of Apollo and Piazza Duomo above, and hear tales of traders, sailors and saints who shaped the island. The tour runs in the morning, leaving the rest of the day free for markets and cafés.
Mount Etna Craters Walk with Lunch & Transfers
On day 7, set out from Taormina and journey to Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano. With an expert guide, walk the Silvestri Craters and recent lava fields on a two-hour trail, learning how ash, basalt and wind create this otherworldly landscape. Peer into small craters, feel the warmth underfoot and, weather permitting, visit a lava tube. A hearty lunch on the mountain is included.
Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Etna has inspired mythology from Hephaestus’ forge to Cyclopean legends. Its fertile slopes yield honey, pistachios and volcanic wines you’ll spot throughout Sicily. This small-group experience includes return transfers from Taormina and guidance on geology, flora and local traditions, returning in the afternoon with sweeping views across the Ionian coast.
Scenic Private Transfers: Ragusa–Noto–Syracuse–Taormina
Across day 2, day 4 and day 6, relax with private car transfers linking Ragusa Ibla, Noto, Syracuse (Ortigia) and Taormina. Settle in as the Hyblaean hills give way to citrus groves and the Ionian coast, and watch Mount Etna appear on the horizon. Your luggage is handled between hotels, so you can simply enjoy the changing scenery from valley floor to clifftop towns.
This is more than logistics: it’s a stitched-together portrait of southeast Sicily, where towns were rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake in luminous baroque stone and fishermen still mend nets along the shore. The drives create a calm rhythm between sightseeing days, letting you arrive refreshed and ready to explore each destination.
Ragusa Ibla Baroque Walking Tour & Duomo di San Giorgio
On day 2, join a guided walking tour through Ragusa Ibla’s steep lanes and balconied palazzi. Hear how the old city rose from medieval origins to baroque splendor after 1693, then step inside the Duomo di San Giorgio to admire its airy nave and ornate chapels. From the steps above the piazza, pause for photos and reflection over rooftops tumbling toward Giardino Ibleo.
Your guide traces local craftsmanship, limestone carving and everyday life in this UNESCO-listed quarter, pointing out quiet courtyards and artisan workshops. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour, and it pairs beautifully with an afternoon espresso or cannolo in a shaded square.
Syracuse Archaeological Park: Greek Theatre & Ear of Dionysius
During day 4 or day 5, head to Neapolis with a local expert to explore the Greek Theatre, Roman Amphitheatre and the resonant Ear of Dionysius. Walk among carob and citrus trees as your guide connects stone quarries, stagecraft and siege stories, then try the famous acoustics of the cave. From the upper tiers, survey Syracuse from Athenian colony to Roman city.
Carved directly from bedrock, these monuments reveal the scale of ancient Sicily and the intellect of figures like Archimedes. Expect clear narratives and time for photographs before returning to Ortigia. This guided visit is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Expect notes of sun-ripened citrus, wild herbs and mineral-tinged stone that speak of the Val di Noto’s limestone hills.
Framed by palazzi and churches rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake, Noto’s UNESCO-listed streets set a golden backdrop to this tasting. Your host explains how centuries of cultivation and coastal breezes shape the wines’ style. It’s an inviting late-afternoon pause that lets you soak in the town’s baroque theatre before you enjoy a free evening.
