Additional information

Ride quiet byways beneath the Gramoz Mountain range along the Albania–Greece frontier. Stone houses with slate tiles, orchards, and shepherd bells set the soundtrack as you wind through remote borderland villages where daily life follows the seasons.

These uplands carry stories of caravans, herders, and age-old trade. The landscape shifts from open pasture to oak and pine, with broad valley views and misty mountain passes ahead. Expect gentle traffic, generous waves from locals, and the satisfying rhythm of rural roads.

Freewheel from pine forest to the turquoise sweep of the Vjosa River, one of Europe’s last free-flowing rivers. Vineyards, orchards, and stone farmsteads pattern the banks as the valley draws you toward Përmet’s warm hospitality.

Watch the valley tighten into the sculpted gates of the Këlcyrë Gorge, where cliffs frame luminous water. This scenic run mixes gentle gradients with wide-angle views, inviting you to pause for photos and reflection on Albania’s wild, river-shaped landscapes.

Wander the polished cobbles of the Gjirokastër Old Bazaar, passing spice jars, copperware, and carved wooden balconies. Slate-roofed mansions cling to the hillside, their stony facades giving the “city of stone” its distinctive silhouette.

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Gjirokastër reveals centuries of Ottoman urban life beneath the ramparts of Gjirokastër Castle. Climb to terraces for sweeping views of the Drino Valley and a stone-roofed skyline that glows honey-gold in late light.

Roll from the Muzina Pass toward the Ionian, trading mountain air for olive groves, wetlands, and the shimmer of coastal light. The road undulates past lagoons and grazing flocks with distant horizons of sea and islands.

Board the traditional Vivari Channel ferry, a cable-guided platform that shuttles locals, cars, and cyclists across the Butrint lagoon. The short crossing links eras—ancient port to modern route—before you trace shoreline lanes with glimpses of the Ionian Sea and Corfu.

Follow the sinuous road of the Albanian Riviera, where cliff-hugging bends reveal cobalt coves and cypress-dotted slopes. A satisfying sweep leads down to the long curve of Potam Bay, its pebbles washed by crystalline waves.

Arriving in the fishing town of Himarë, feel the blend of mountain and maritime cultures—octopus lines drying on quays, domed chapels above stony lanes. Celebrate the day’s coastal switchbacks with a dip in the turquoise Ionian waters or a seaside espresso.

Soak in the thermal springs of Benjë, a chain of mineral pools set beside the Lengaricë canyon. Cross the elegant arch of the Ottoman Kadiut Bridge to find steaming basins in hues of jade and slate.

Locals prize these soothing mineral pools for their restorative qualities, especially at day’s end. This optional visit is at additional cost and bookable on tour; bring swimwear, and pause for photos and reflection amid steam, stone, and river song.

Explore Butrint National Park, a lakeside citadel layered with Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian chapters. Paths thread from the Roman theatre and Byzantine basilica to Venetian towers, bathhouses, and a hilltop acropolis shaded by laurel and pine.

A UNESCO World Heritage treasure, Butrint illuminates two millennia of Adriatic trade and faith. Entry is at additional cost and bookable on tour; linger for lagoon views and the quiet of ancient stones beside the water.

Glide across mirror-calm water as you paddle the tranquil lake beside your Shelegur stay. Skim reed edges where dragonflies hover and herons lift, with mountain reflections rippling under your bow.

Choose to borrow a kayak or pedal boat for a gentle hour between rides, tuning into birdsong and mountain reflections. This optional activity is at additional cost and bookable locally through your accommodation.

Settle into a family-run tavern to sample regional wines, fragrant brandies, and seasonal preserves. In Përmet, vintners craft bright, food-friendly blends, while households taste Përmet raki alongside dishes perfumed with mountain herbs.

Don’t miss homemade gliko—spoon-sweets of fig, quince, or walnut served in syrup, a proud local tradition offered with coffee. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour, ideal for deepening your sense of place.

Delve into the National Museum of Medieval Art, home to luminous icons, gilded iconostases, and the craft of tempera on wood. Nearby, the city’s Museum of Education traces the rise of Albanian literacy and nationhood.

Together they reveal Korcë as a cultural crossroads—Orthodox devotion meeting modern identity. Entries are optional, at additional cost, and can be arranged during your time in the city.

Step inside Gjirokastër Castle to explore vaulted galleries, stone courtyards, and the clock-tower terrace. Exhibits range from armaments displays to folklore of sieges, with panoramic ramparts surveying the Drino Valley and slate-roofed town below.

Once an Ottoman stronghold, the fortress charts shifting powers across the Balkans. Entry is optional, at additional cost, and bookable on tour; allow time to wander the walls for dramatic light and echoes of history.

Pedal the waterfront as you cycle the Lake Ohrid shoreline, where reed beds rustle and fishing skiffs dot the water. Glide past Pogradec’s lakeside promenade and pebble coves, with the castle hill rising above and distant mountain ridges framing the horizon.

Along this ancient corridor, echoes of Illyrian and Byzantine heritage linger—from the royal tombs of Selca to mosaicked chapels on the Lini peninsula. Use the calm, level paths to pause for photos and reflection before the route swings inland toward Korcë’s cultured streets.

Explore the Korcë Old Bazaar, a district of cobbles, low stone arcades, and café terraces where craftspeople trade beneath slate roofs. Drift into the cathedral square to admire the Cathedral of the Resurrection and the lively rhythm of markets and music.

Nicknamed the “little Paris of Albania”, Korcë blends 20th-century boulevards with deep Orthodox traditions and icon-painting heritage. Seek out espresso bars and baklava counters tucked between ateliers for an atmospheric glimpse into the city’s refined, creative spirit.

Get set for the ride as you complete an e-bike fitting and safety briefing with your local representative by the shores of Lake Ohrid. Adjust your saddle, check gears and brakes, and take a short spin to feel the motor assist before the week’s varied terrain.
