South Coast Waterfalls & Volcano Vistas
Stand before the contrasting cascades of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, where glacial rivers plunge from former sea cliffs into mossy canyons. Feel the spray, hear the thundering roar and watch for rainbows forming in the mist on bright days.
Along the way, admire distant views of the stratovolcanoes Hekla and Eyjafjallajokull, whose eruptions shaped this coast. Your Travel Director shares how meltwater, shifting shorelines and ash-laden floods carved these dramatic south-shore profiles.
Vík Black-Sand Beach Walk
Walk on the famous black-sand beach at Vík, where Atlantic swells meet volcanic shore. From safe viewpoints, photograph the jagged Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising from the surf and the brooding cliffs sculpted by wind and water.
