Additional information
Uluru Sunset with Sparkling Wine
Watch Uluru change colour at sunset while enjoying a glass of sparkling wine. As the light softens, the rock’s surfaces shift through warm reds and deeper tones against the open desert sky.
The changing light reveals contours that can look different from one moment to the next. With space to pause and take in the surrounding landscape, this viewing experience captures one of the Red Centre’s most distinctive natural spectacles.
Uluru Sunrise at Talinguru Nyakunytjaku
Greet the morning at Talinguru Nyakunytjaku, the Uluru sunrise viewing area. Enjoy a warming tea or coffee as the first light reaches the desert and gradually brings out the colours and contours of Uluru.
This dedicated viewing area provides a broad perspective across the landscape. The quiet, cool early hours offer a different way to experience the rock from sunset, with subtle shifts of light spreading across the surrounding plains.
Uluru–Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre
Visit the Uluru–Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to deepen your understanding of the landscape and its Traditional Owners, the A?angu. Explore displays introducing the park’s living culture, natural environment and the significance of caring for Country.
Set within the national park, the centre offers valuable context for the places you will see. It is an opportunity to consider Uluru and Kata Tjuta not simply as striking formations, but as places with enduring cultural meaning.
Kata Tjuta Dune Viewpoint & Walpa Gorge Walk
Take in panoramic views of Kata Tjuta’s southern domes from a dune viewing platform, then explore Walpa Gorge on a walking trail between two of the formation’s tallest domes. Look closely at the rounded stones embedded in its ancient conglomerate rock.
Kata Tjuta comprises 36 domes and holds deep significance for the A?angu. In the gorge, a natural creek line supports pockets of vegetation, creating a striking contrast with the immense rock walls and exposed desert beyond.
Uluru Base Tour & Sacred Sites
Travel around the base of Uluru with your Driver Guide, taking in the rock’s changing surfaces, sheltered hollows and distinctive features from the comfort of an air-conditioned coach. Hear commentary about the area’s native plants and wildlife, alongside the cultural significance of sites around the monolith.
Uluru is part of a living cultural landscape cared for by the A?angu. Your guide’s insights add depth to its immense scale and help explain why some areas are especially significant.
Kuniya Walk & Mutitjulu Waterhole
Follow the Kuniya Walk with your Driver Guide to Mutitjulu Waterhole, a sheltered place at the base of Uluru. Walk close to the rock and observe the contrast between its towering walls and the vegetation supported by water in this arid landscape.
This is a culturally significant A?angu site, associated with stories of Kuniya and Liru. The guided visit offers a closer perspective on Uluru’s natural features and the traditions connected to them.
Kings Canyon Rim Walk or Creek Bed Walk
Explore Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park on a walk suited to your fitness. The approximately three-hour, 6 km Rim Walk climbs steeply before following rocky ground past lookouts over the gorge. If time permits, your guide may also visit the Garden of Eden waterhole.
For an easier, shorter alternative, take the Creek Bed Walk among boulders, native plants and birdlife on the canyon floor. The rim route requires a good level of fitness; both options reveal the scale and character of this desert landscape.
Field of Light & Uluru Sunrise
Walk through Bruce Munro’s Field of Light before dawn, surrounded by 50,000 handcrafted frosted-glass spheres glowing in ochre, violet, blue and white. The installation spreads across the desert near Uluru, its points of light visible against the darkness.
From a dune-top viewpoint, enjoy tea, coffee or hot chocolate and watch sunrise behind Uluru, with Kata Tjuta visible across the landscape. The experience pairs a contemporary light artwork with the Red Centre’s natural dawn colours.
