Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style at The King’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace
On day 2, after breakfast, enjoy timed admission to The King’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace. Within this intimate exhibition space, step inside to see garments that shaped a reign: the young princess’s bridesmaid dress, the Norman Hartnell–designed wedding dress, the exquisitely embroidered Coronation dress, and the refined ensemble worn for the wedding of Princess Margaret. Curators highlight fabrics, beadwork and symbolism that framed public life and ceremony.
Learn how Hartnell’s designs wove Commonwealth emblems into the coronation gown and how post-war austerity touched the wedding dress through ration coupons, as the display traces how couture underpinned public duty from princess to sovereign. Emerge by the Victoria Memorial and The Mall, with time to pause for photos and reflection before you rejoin the coach mid-afternoon for the journey home.
London Free Time for Shopping & Sightseeing
Arriving by coach on day 1, you’ll arrive in central London and enjoy a free afternoon to explore at your own pace. Wander from Trafalgar Square past the fountains and lions to the colonnade of the National Gallery, browse the boutiques and street performers of Covent Garden, or follow Piccadilly and Regent Street for elegant arcades, Liberty’s timbered halls and the treats at Fortnum & Mason and Harrods.
History is close at hand: stroll by St James’s Park towards the palace quarter, and if timings allow you may glimpse the Changing of the Guard. Take a moment to pause for photos and reflection at Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, or simply soak in the city’s energy from a café table.
Later, rejoin the coach and travel to your hotel outside London for the overnight stay.
