Additional information

Visit a traditional Argentine estancia on the Pampas to witness gaucho horsemanship displays, stroll the ranch grounds, and sit down to an asado grilled over open flames. Wide horizons, wind in the grasses, and chimichurri-scented air set the scene.

Founded by Irish settlers in the 19th century, Santa Susana preserves the heritage of the Pampas—from adobe chapels to antique tack rooms. Musicians and dancers share folk traditions while you taste local beef and malbec, meeting the people who keep ranch life alive.

Ride the End of the World Train, a narrow-gauge line once serving Ushuaia’s penal colony, as it puffs through lenga forests, peat bogs, and river flats. The slow rhythm frames big skies and a landscape shaped by isolation.

Continue into Tierra del Fuego National Park for short walks to viewpoints over Ensenada and Lapataia Bay, and stand where the legendary route meets its limit at the end of the Pan-American Highway. Keep watch for chilco blooms, kelp geese, and fox tracks.

Visit a working Chilean ranch outside Puerto Natales to learn about sheep shearing, herding, and the rhythms of Patagonian life. Sit down to slow-roasted Patagonian lamb—asado al palo—paired with rustic sides and local breads.

Set against Andean-backed grasslands, the estancia showcases wool grading, saddlery, and daily tasks, contrasting subtly with Argentine traditions. Share stories with hosts and experience the warm rural hospitality that anchors communities at the edge of the world.

Experience Buenos Aires by night with a traditional porteño dinner followed by an authentic tango performance in an intimate theatre-café. Candlelit tables, polished wood floors, and a live orchestra set the mood for the dance that defines the city.

Learn how tango emerged born in the port barrios at the turn of the 20th century, blending immigrant rhythms with local sensibility. Watch close embrace, crisp footwork, and dramatic bandoneón melodies convey stories of longing and pride.

Cruise the Beagle Channel from Ushuaia, threading between rugged islets toward the red-and-white Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. Glide past rocky haul-outs where colonies of sea lions bask and cormorants wheel overhead, with the snow-capped Andes as your backdrop.

Step ashore on a small island to feel the wind, smell the brine, and look back at the serrated skyline of Tierra del Fuego. On board, naturalist commentary adds context to the region’s exploration history and rich subantarctic ecology.

Board a catamaran across Lake Argentino to the blue ramparts of the Perito Moreno Glacier, where fissured ice towers glow in Antarctic hues. Listen for the crack and roar of thundering calving ice as bergs tumble into the milky water.

Return to shore to follow elevated boardwalk viewpoints through beech forest clearings, offering ever-changing perspectives from sweeping panoramas to close-up crevasses. Interpretive displays reveal how this rare advancing glacier reshapes the lake and shore.

Navigate among drifting icebergs on Lake Argentino toward the immense Upsala Glacier, then continue to the sheer, sky-scraping face of the Spegazzini Glacier. Move between lounges and open-air observation decks to match the wind and light.

Waterfalls ribbon down black rock, and the boat threads safe channels through ice-scattered waters while guides explain the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. A lakeside refuge stop offers time for lunch or a short trail to a scenic overlook.

Explore Torres del Paine on a relaxed circuit of lookouts framing the Paine Massif and granite towers, the mirror-like blues of turquoise Lake Pehoé, and spray from the Salto Grande waterfall. Guanacos graze while Andean condors patrol thermals.

Learn how ice and wind carved this landscape before visiting Cueva del Milodón, a vast cavern where remains of a giant ground sloth were found in the 1890s. Trails and interpretive panels place you inside Patagonia’s deep natural history.

Discover Santiago’s layers, beginning on terraced gardens of Cerro Santa Lucía and the arcaded bustle of Plaza de Armas and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Continue to the ceremonial heart at La Moneda Palace, seat of Chile’s presidency.

Cap the cityscape with a panoramic ascent to Cerro San Cristóbal by funicular and an airy descent by cable car above Parque Metropolitano. Andes peaks, modern towers, and classic barrios align for a vivid sense of place.

Explore Chile’s coast from palm-lined boulevards of Viña del Mar to the vertiginous hills of Valparaíso. Ride a historic funicular to mural-splashed lanes where open-air murals and bohemian cafés crown stairways above the harbor.

Trace Pacific trade routes and immigrant stories as you follow switchbacks to viewpoints over docks and distant headlands. The Pacific shoreline and the landscaped charms of the Garden City of Viña del Mar reveal two faces of the coast.

Sample regional wines at a traditional bodega in the coastal Casablanca Valley, where cool Pacific breezes favor vibrant whites and elegant pinot noir. Stroll vine rows and learn about soils, pruning, and harvest cycles.

Step into the cellar and barrel room to compare varietals and vintages while guides decode Chilean appellations and styles. Notes of citrus, stone fruit, and spice illuminate the terroir-driven winemaking that has put Chile on the world stage.

Discover Buenos Aires on a guided panoramic tour spanning elegant Recoleta, leafy Palermo, and the civic heart at Plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosada. Take in grand boulevards, jacaranda-shaded parks, and Belle Époque facades that earned the city its “Paris of South America” moniker.
