Learn about Empress Maria Theresa’s influence and Emperor Franz Joseph’s long reign as you trace corridors where a young Mozart once performed. Outside, the Baroque gardens, dusted with frost, frame long axial views that underscore the palace’s theatrical sense of power and poise.

As midnight nears, gather with fellow travellers for a midnight toast with drinks and canapés on board. The convivial atmosphere, warm hospitality, and celebratory music combine for a timeless welcome to the year ahead.
Hungarian Folklore Show (On Board)
Experience a spirited Hungarian folklore show in the ship’s lounge, where deft strings and the haunting cimbalom accompany dancers in embroidered costumes. Lively melodies and storytelling songs bring village traditions to life in an intimate, audience-friendly setting.
Enjoy the whirl of csárdás steps and rhythmic clapping, tracing influences from the Great Plain to Transdanubia. This convivial showcase of music, dance, and humour offers a vibrant cultural finale to your Danube celebration.
Bratislava Old Town Guided Walk
Walk the cobbled lanes of Slovakia’s capital as you join a guided walking tour through the pastel facades and café-lined squares of the Old Town. Pass under Michael’s Gate, admire the elegant Primatial Palace, and see the coronation church of St Martin’s, where Hungarian kings once received their crowns.
Hear stories of Habsburg courtly life and the city’s renaissance as you take in views of Bratislava Castle commanding the Danube. Lively sculptures, baroque fountains, and cosy pastry shops lend a charming small-city atmosphere amid grand Central European history.
Vienna Panoramic Tour & St Stephen’s Cathedral
Discover imperial Vienna on a city orientation as you join a guided panoramic tour around the Ringstrasse. See the stately Hofburg Palace, the Opera, and the Rathaus before reaching the Gothic spire of St Stephen’s Cathedral, whose glazed-tile roof adds colour to the winter skyline.
Unpack Vienna’s golden age of music—Mozart, Brahms, and the Strauss dynasty—and the Habsburg grandeur reflected in palaces and museums. Your guide weaves architecture, café culture, and courtly tradition into a portrait of a city that balances ceremony with warmth.
Danube Bend Winter Cruising with On-Board Brunch
Cruise the river’s most scenic curve as you cruise the Danube Bend, gliding past the forested hills and riverside towns between Visegrád and Esztergom. Enjoy the wintry stillness from the sun deck with a warming drink, then savour a leisurely New Year’s Day brunch in the ship’s lounge as the landscape drifts by.
Look for the dome of Esztergom Basilica rising over the water and the ridge-top Visegrád Citadel, once a royal stronghold. The gentle rhythm of the river and frost-silvered banks create a contemplative pace, perfect to pause for photos and reflection.
Budapest Guided City Tour & Castle District
Explore Budapest with a local expert as you join a guided city tour along the Danube embankments to admire the neo-Gothic Hungarian Parliament Building and the graceful Chain Bridge. Cross to Buda to wander the Castle District, where cobbled lanes lead to fairy-tale turrets and sweeping river panoramas from the bastions.
Hear how Ottoman rule and the Habsburg era shaped this UNESCO-listed skyline. Pause by the Fisherman’s Bastion and the richly tiled Matthias Church, capturing the wintry hues of rooftops and spires that give the “Pearl of the Danube” its evocative charm.
