Additional information

On day 2, travel the short distance to Poole and visit Poole’s quayside and Old Town. Stroll the cobbles by the water, browse independent shops and cafes, and watch the fishing boats come and go across Poole Harbour—one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Pause to admire the view toward the Sandbanks Peninsula and the bustle of the working quays.

Discover traces of medieval trade routes and Georgian prosperity in the Old Town’s merchants’ houses, with landmarks such as Scaplen’s Court and the old Customs House. Learn how maritime commerce, fishing and Poole Pottery shaped the harbour’s character. There’s time to pause for photos and reflection along the waterfront before returning to Bournemouth for an afternoon at leisure.

On day 2 evening, gather at the hotel for a festive Hogmanay buffet dinner, a hearty spread that sets the tone for a sparkling night. Clink glasses, sample seasonal dishes and desserts, and later count down to midnight together as music fills the room and the dance floor beckons. After the feast, unwind with after-dinner tea and coffee.

Hogmanay traditions, rooted in Scotland, celebrate fresh beginnings—think toasts, songs and the warmth of good company. Expect a convivial atmosphere where you can raise a glass to the New Year, perhaps joining in a chorus of “Auld Lang Syne.” It’s an uplifting, sociable finale to the day, blending winter cheer with coastal holiday spirit, all within the comfort of your hotel.

On day 3, head west to visit Weymouth, crowned by a lively harbour and an elegant Georgian seafront. Wander past bobbing boats and stone quays, then amble the crescent-shaped Esplanade with its pastel terraces. The long sandy beach, lined with classic kiosks, invites you to soak in the sea air and enjoy views arching toward the World Heritage Jurassic Coast.

Weymouth’s popularity soared after King George III holidayed here in the late 1700s, ushering in an age of sea bathing and genteel promenades. Look across the bay to Portland and Chesil Beach, and note the defensive silhouette of Nothe Fort above the harbour. There’s time to pause for photos and reflection before returning to Bournemouth for dinner.

Across the stay, unwind at the hotel with light entertainment every evening. Settle into the lounge-bar after dinner, chat with new friends and relax with after-dinner tea and coffee. Programming varies—think gentle live music, a quiz or a convivial playlist—crafted for an easygoing seaside atmosphere.

These evenings echo the tradition of British coastal hotels, where sociable lounges and warm service invite you to soak in the lounge-bar atmosphere. On non-countdown nights, it’s a mellow close to the day; after the New Year festivities, it’s a cosy way to wind down before bed. Expect friendly conversation, simple pleasures and time to savour the holiday pace.
