Insight Vacations

Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over a light dinner and drinks in Lucerne. This hosted gathering offers an introduction to the group in a city framed by Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains.

Enjoy a relaxed first evening as Switzerland’s winter landscape sets the scene: illuminated streets, crisp alpine air and the warmth of a shared table. The dinner is included as a hosted experience rather than a meal to arrange independently.

Explore Lucerne with your Travel Director and discover the Chapel Bridge, Jesuit Church and Lion Monument. See the city’s covered wooden bridge and painted gables against a backdrop of lake and mountains.

The Lion Monument commemorates Swiss Guards killed during the French Revolution, while the Chapel Bridge recalls Lucerne’s medieval past. Together, these landmarks reveal a city shaped by trade, faith and a long tradition of Swiss service abroad.

Discover St. Moritz’s spa quarter and glacial lake in the Engadine Valley, where mountain scenery meets the resort’s distinctive high-altitude elegance. Take in the lakeside setting and the architecture of a town known for its winter-sports heritage.

St. Moritz hosted the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948. Its long association with alpine holidays gives this Grisons resort a character that contrasts with Switzerland’s quieter mountain villages.

Ride a hydroelectric-powered regional train along the Glacier Express route through the Swiss Alps, with lunch included. Watch for the Landwasser Viaduct, the tunnels of the Albula line and the rocky expanse of the Rhine Gorge as the railway threads through mountain terrain.

The route climbs towards the snowy Oberalp Pass before descending to Andermatt. Views also include rivers, woodlands and high pastures, making the journey a close-up encounter with both Alpine engineering and the changing winter landscape.

Explore Grindelwald with your Travel Director in a Bernese Alps village set beneath the formidable Eiger north face. Take in the village’s mountain setting and the steep slopes that make this one of Switzerland’s most recognisable alpine destinations.

Grindelwald’s setting gives a sense of the scale of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. Its village streets offer a closer view of mountain life than the panoramic rail journey, with the Eiger providing a striking backdrop.

Visit Chillon Castle with Maud, the château’s curator, and discover its collections and history beside Lake Geneva. Set on a rocky islet, the castle was once a residence of the Counts of Savoy and retains the atmosphere of a medieval lakeside stronghold.

Explore the setting that inspired Lord Byron’s 1816 poem “The Prisoner of Chillon”. In the dungeons, look for the pillar bearing his carved name—a tangible link between the castle’s history and its place in European Romantic literature.

Join your Travel Director for an orientation in Montreux, an elegant resort on the shores of Lake Geneva. Get your bearings by the town’s lakeside promenade, with views across the water towards the surrounding Alps.

Montreux’s tiered streets and waterfront give it a character distinct from Switzerland’s high-mountain resorts. The orientation introduces the town’s layout and scenic setting, making it easier to appreciate its lakefront atmosphere while exploring independently.

Discover Geneva with your Travel Director on an orientation featuring the Jet d’Eau and Floral Clock beside Lake Geneva. See the Old Town and the Palais des Nations, the United Nations’ European headquarters, as you get to know the city’s principal landmarks.

The lakeside gardens and historic streets show different sides of Geneva, from its public spaces to its international role. The orientation offers a concise introduction to the city before further exploration at your own pace.

Visit Geneva’s International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum to learn about humanitarian action and the people it serves. Exhibitions examine the challenges faced by refugees, migrants and asylum seekers and the work undertaken to assist them.

Geneva is closely associated with the origins of the Red Cross movement. This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience adds a human perspective to the city’s international institutions, while the visit supports the organisation’s work and the goal of reducing inequalities.

Share a traditional fondue dinner at a local restaurant in Geneva. Gather around the pot with your fellow travellers for a Swiss dining ritual built on conversation and a leisurely, communal meal.

Fondue’s appeal lies as much in the way it is shared as in its rich flavour. Served in a restaurant setting, this included dinner offers a chance to experience a familiar Swiss tradition together rather than simply ordering an evening meal.

  • Business class coach with extended leg room
  • Top-rated dining, from farm-to-table to local restaurants
  • 4 & 5-star stays
