Half Day
Liverpool & Southport
Join our optional excursion to charming Chester. This compact city is a delight to explore, from the rescued remains of its Roman Amphitheatre to the distinctive Medieval Rows that line its streets. In addition to an abundance of historical attractions, Chester has an array of great shops and a host of cafés, restaurants and pubs to tempt you.
Full Day
Chester City Excursion: The Rows, City Walls & Eastgate Clock
Visit Chester, a compact city where Roman and medieval layers meet. Walk the City Walls, browse The Rows of black-and-white timbered galleries, and see the Eastgate Clock at the old gateway. If you wish, pause beside the Roman Amphitheatre or wander towards the River Dee for waterside views.
Founded as Roman Deva, Chester’s prosperity shaped its cathedral close, guildhalls, and merchants’ houses. This excursion is at additional cost and bookable on tour, giving flexibility to explore further, step into local museums or churches, or linger over coffee in the historic centre.
Southport Seaside Visit: Lord Street, Marine Lake & Kings Gardens
Explore the classic English resort of Southport. Stroll the elegant Lord Street arcades, wander the Kings Gardens lawns, and soak in the sea air along Marine Lake. Seek out cafés and independent shops beneath wrought-iron canopies and pause for photos and reflection beside the water’s calm edge.
Evolving through the 19th century, Southport pairs resort heritage with polished promenades and tree-lined boulevards, a look some link to Napoleon III’s time in exile nearby. Although the pier is currently closed for renovations, broad waterfront paths still provide generous estuary views and the town’s unhurried, genteel character.
