After breakfast, we check out of the hotel and board the coach for the journey home.

Explore Norwich, often called Britain’s most complete medieval city, where lanes of timber-framed buildings lead to a magnificent Norman cathedral with a soaring spire and spacious cloisters. Wander the atmospheric Norwich Lanes and the vibrant Norwich Market, one of England’s largest open-air markets.

Trace the River Wensum past old merchants’ houses and flint churches, and feel the city’s mercantile energy that once made it second only to London. Discover independent shops and the city’s Colman’s mustard heritage. This is an optional excursion at additional cost, bookable on tour and subject to local availability.

Board a heritage steam train on the North Norfolk Railway (Poppy Line) for a scenic run from Sheringham to Holt. Settle into vintage carriages as the line threads through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with heathland, pine woods and glimpses of the coast rolling by in rhythmic, steam-scented nostalgia.

Experience a volunteer-run railway that preserves the golden age of British rail travel. Spot the period architecture at Weybourne’s station and the classic semaphore signals, then arrive near elegant Holt, known for its Georgian buildings and flint-stone detail that reflect the region’s enduring crafts.

Travel by narrow-gauge steam railway along the Bure Valley Railway from Aylsham to Wroxham, with the train’s whistle echoing across meadows and village halts. Watch wind-ruffled grasses and willow-framed waterways slide past your window as the line follows the gentle contours of the River Bure.

Built on a former rail route and now Norfolk’s longest narrow-gauge line, the Bure Valley rekindles the romance of small-scale rail. Arrive in Wroxham, the “Capital of the Broads”, where boatyards and waterside cottages hint at the region’s life shaped by rivers, reeds, and open skies.

Cruise the waterways aboard a Mississippi Paddle Steamer from Horning, gliding past thatched waterside cottages and windmills as the reed-fringed waterways of the Norfolk Broads open out around you. The broad, tranquil channels and mirror-calm lagoons create a painterly panorama of river life.

Learn how these shallow broads were formed from medieval peat workings and later became a haven for wildlife and leisure. Scan the skies for marsh harriers and herons, listen for rustling reedbeds, and settle into the unhurried rhythm that defines England’s celebrated wetland landscape.

Explore the characterful north Norfolk coast in the classic resorts of Cromer Pier and Sheringham. Amble the promenades, browse independent shops, and take in wide-sky beaches where seabirds wheel above the surf. The scent of fresh fish and chips mingles with sea air as you pause for photos and reflection along the seafront.

Absorb the area’s Victorian and Edwardian seaside heritage, from Cromer’s theatre-tipped pier to Sheringham’s flint-fronted cottages. Look out for traditional beach huts, cliff-top gardens and working crab boats that speak to a proud maritime tradition rooted in this stretch of Norfolk coast.
