Legends of Liverpool & Historic Chester
From a morning pickup in your local area, we travel by coach to our hotel.
Legends of Liverpool & Historic Chester
This morning, we enjoy a guided coach tour of Liverpool, learning all there is to know about its history and, of course, its most famous sons, The Beatles. With its rich cultural heritage, rejuvenated waterfront, iconic architecture and legendary landmarks, there’s so much to see and experience in this fantastic city.
Legends of Liverpool & Historic Chester
We head to the delightful city of Chester, where the fascinating sights span the centuries. Wander through the streets of black and white timber-framed buildings and double-height shops or visit the remains of the city’s Roman Amphitheatre. As well as an abundance of historical attractions, Chester also has a thriving shopping centre with a host of cafés, restaurants and pubs to tempt you.
Legends of Liverpool & Historic Chester
On our optional excursion, we head to the traditional Victorian seaside town of Southport. Known as England’s Classic Resort, it is home to the country’s second-longest and oldest pier and beautiful architecture, plus some lovely parks and gardens, perfect for a leisurely stroll.

After breakfast, we check out of the hotel and board the coach for the journey home.
Chester Excursion: The Rows, Eastgate Clock & Roman Walls
Explore the walled city of Chester, famed for black-and-white timbered storefronts along The Rows and the ornate Eastgate Clock. Walk sections of the Roman walls for elevated views, and see the excavated Roman Amphitheatre near the River Dee.
Browse independent boutiques beneath covered galleries or pause at Chester Cathedral. This excursion layers Roman, medieval and Victorian chapters in one compact centre, where sandstone, half-timber and cobbles tell the city’s story.
Southport Victorian Seaside & Pier Promenade
Visit Southport, a classic Victorian seaside resort, on an optional half-day excursion. Stroll the breezy boardwalk of Southport Pier—the UK’s second-longest—and wander leafy Lord Street with its glass-canopied arcades and cafés.
Savour views across Marine Lake, pause in King’s Gardens and admire ornate ironwork and grand hotels from the resort’s heyday. This is an optional excursion at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Liverpool Guided City Tour: Waterfront, Cathedrals & Beatles Stories
Join a guided panoramic tour through Liverpool to the rejuvenated waterfront at Pier Head and the Royal Albert Dock. Pass the ‘Three Graces’—Royal Liver, Cunard and Port of Liverpool Buildings—and the cultural quarter by St George’s Hall, while hearing Merseybeat stories and seafaring heritage.
See contrasts from the vast Anglican Liverpool Cathedral to the modernist Metropolitan Cathedral. In the Cavern Quarter, your guide links streets to early Beatles lore. Pause for photos and reflection as river light, brick warehouses and music history frame the city’s spirit.
