Additional information

Settle into Kraków and meet your Tour Manager and fellow travellers over a convivial welcome dinner. Share first impressions while you sample regional dishes such as pierogi, aromatic soups, or hearty stews, paired with Polish beverages in a warm, central setting.

Hosted conversation helps break the ice and shape plans for the days ahead. Expect insight into local dining customs, neighbourhood tips, and recommendations that turn the city’s restaurant scene into your extended menu.

Descend into the legendary Wieliczka Salt Mine to wander galleries carved from gleaming rock salt, past saline lakes and intricate sculptures. Marvel at underground chapels, including the chandelier-lit St Kinga’s Chapel, where bas-reliefs and an altar sparkle with salt-crystal detail.

This optional experience reveals centuries of miners’ craft, engineering ingenuity, and devotional art beneath Kraków’s outskirts. It is bookable on tour at additional cost with your Tour Manager and operates subject to availability.

Experience a solemn, expertly led encounter with history on a guided visit to Auschwitz I and Birkenau (Auschwitz II), preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walk through original barracks, exhibits, and the rail platform to understand the mechanisms and scale of the Holocaust.

With sensitive guidance, this visit provides essential context through personal testimonies and surviving artefacts. Time is given to take time for reflection. Travellers who prefer not to attend may remain in Kraków during these hours.

Explore the limestone hill above the Vistula on a curated visit to the Wawel Royal Castle and Wawel Cathedral, the ceremonial heart of Poland. Walk arcades and chambers where monarchs were crowned and ambassadors received, and admire courtly art, armor, and woven treasures.

Step into the cathedral’s side chapels and royal tombs, and pause in the elegant Renaissance courtyard that frames the complex. From legends of the Wawel dragon to the cathedral bell towers, this ensemble distills five centuries of Polish statehood and spiritual life.

Discover Kraków’s medieval heart as you join a guided walking tour through the cobbled lanes surrounding the vast Rynek Glówny, Europe’s largest medieval square. Take in the arcaded Cloth Hall (Sukiennice) and the richly adorned St Mary’s Basilica, where the famed trumpeter’s call drifts from the tower over café terraces and horse-drawn carriages.

Explore defensive heritage at the Florian Gate and remnants of the city walls, then pass Jagiellonian University’s Collegium Maius, where Copernicus studied. The route blends Gothic, Renaissance, and baroque facades with stories of merchants, scholars, and kings that shaped Poland’s former capital.
