Insight Vacations

  • Business class coach with extended leg room
  • Top-rated dining, from farm-to-table to local restaurants
  • 4 & 5-star stays

Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over a welcome dinner in Amman, Jordan’s capital. Share a meal and sample local flavours while getting to know the people who will accompany you through the country.

Jordanian dining places value on hospitality and conversation. This hosted gathering offers a relaxed introduction to that tradition and a chance to hear about the landscapes and historic places at the heart of the journey.

Explore the Greco-Roman ruins of Jerash with your Travel Director. Enter through Hadrian’s Arch, look across the sweeping Oval Plaza and walk the colonnaded Cardo Maximus, the city’s principal Roman street.

Discover the Temples of Artemis and Zeus among some of the region’s most extensive surviving classical remains. Jerash’s plazas, columns and ceremonial gateways reveal the scale of an ancient city that flourished under Roman rule.

Enjoy an al fresco lunch at Beit Khairat Souf, a women-owned café in the Jerash area. Taste dishes made with natural produce and family recipes in a setting shaped by local hospitality.

The café creates opportunities for women to earn an income and build a stronger community. This is more than a meal: it offers a direct connection to the people preparing the food and the social enterprise their work helps sustain.

Take in the view from Mount Nebo, the hill traditionally associated with Moses’ sight of the Promised Land. Look across the surrounding landscape and explore the remains that make this one of Jordan’s most revered religious sites.

The viewpoint carries meaning across centuries of biblical tradition. On a clear day, the broad panorama helps place that story in its physical setting, while the archaeological remains speak to the site’s long history of pilgrimage.

Visit St George’s Church in Madaba with your Travel Director to see the celebrated sixth-century Madaba Map. Study the surviving mosaic’s tiny stone tesserae, arranged to depict places across the Holy Land.

The map is among the earliest surviving cartographic representations of the region and a vivid example of Byzantine mosaic-making. Its detail gives this church visit an unusual appeal for travellers interested in both sacred history and ancient craftsmanship.

Taste a farm-to-table lunch in Madaba made with fresh, locally sourced organic produce. Hear from your hosts about the farmers who supply the ingredients and their efforts to build a community of conscious food producers.

The experience brings Jordan’s agricultural traditions into focus through the meal itself. It offers an opportunity to consider where the food comes from and how relationships between growers and kitchens shape the flavours on the table.

Explore Shobak’s 12th-century Crusader fortress, perched on a rocky mountain above the surrounding landscape. Examine its towers and Arabic inscriptions before stepping inside to see the Crusader chapel, palace complex and surviving passages.

Built during the Crusader period, Shobak bears traces of the different powers that held it. Its defensive position and layered stonework make the fortress a compelling place to consider the history of the King’s Highway and southern Jordan.

Walk through the Siq, Petra’s narrow rock passage, with your Travel Director and emerge before the monumental Treasury, Al-Khazneh. Continue among the ancient tombs and explore the rock-cut theatre within this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Carved and developed by the Nabataeans, Petra was once a thriving centre on regional trade routes. The contrast between the Siq’s high walls and the city’s open, rose-coloured facades makes its history tangible on foot.

Share a traditional Bedouin-style dinner at the Ammarin Bedouin camp near Petra. Taste Jordanian dishes in a desert setting and spend time with local hosts against the backdrop of the surrounding rock and sand.

Bedouin hospitality is closely tied to welcoming guests and gathering around food. This hosted evening offers a distinct perspective on the region beyond Petra’s monuments, pairing local flavours with conversation in the landscape where these traditions continue.

Ride into Wadi Rum on a jeep safari to see its red-hued desert, sandstone formations and broad open valleys. Explore the landscape known as the Valley of the Moon while learning about its history and local Bedouin culture.

Wadi Rum is recognised by UNESCO for both its natural and cultural significance. Travelling by jeep opens up views of its immense rock walls and shifting desert colours, revealing why this landscape has long shaped life in southern Jordan.

Choose a guided sightseeing tour of Amman focused on the capital’s history and architecture. Visit the hilltop Citadel, the Roman Theatre and the Archaeological Museum, with city views that show how modern Amman spreads across its hills.

The Citadel preserves traces of successive civilisations, while the theatre recalls the city’s Roman-era life. This is one of two included Amman activity choices, suited to travellers who want to explore the capital through its historic sites.

Choose a guided graffiti walking tour to explore Amman’s street-art scene on foot. Look closely at murals and painted walls while your guide introduces this contemporary side of Jordan’s capital.

Street art offers a different way to read the city, placing creative expression within its everyday streets rather than behind museum walls. This is one of two included Amman activity choices, offering an alternative to the historic-sites city tour.

Gather for a farewell dinner in Amman with your Travel Director and fellow travellers. Share a meal in the Jordanian capital and exchange impressions of the country’s ancient cities, desert landscapes and local encounters.

Hosted dining provides a sociable close to the tour without requiring a formal sightseeing programme. The evening’s focus is the company around the table: an opportunity to revisit favourite moments and enjoy the warmth of a shared meal.
