Explore Rome with your Travel Director on an orientation that brings the city’s layered streets into focus. See medieval buildings, Renaissance palaces and Baroque churches as you get your bearings in the Italian capital.

Rome’s architecture tells a story of changing power and artistic ambition, from ancient foundations to grand papal-era facades. This introduction offers a way to recognise those layers as you move through the city.

Explore the Vatican Museums with a Local Specialist, using fast-track admission to discover artworks collected by popes over centuries. The visit includes the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo’s frescoed ceiling rewards a close look.

In Vatican City, these galleries bring together classical sculpture, painting and the artistic legacy of the Renaissance papacy. If Vatican Museums tickets are unavailable, the included visit is instead to Rome’s Capitoline Museums, known for their Roman art and archaeology.

Visit Rome’s Colosseum and stand within one of the ancient world’s most recognisable amphitheatres. Its surviving tiers and arches give a sense of the scale of the spectacles once staged for Roman crowds.

Completed in the first century CE, the arena remains a landmark of imperial engineering and public life. Seeing it in person makes the history of ancient Rome tangible, from the structure of the seating to the vast space at its centre.

Cruise by private launch into Venice, approaching the historic centre from the water. Take in St. Mark’s Square and St. Mark’s Basilica, along with views of the Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs.

Arriving by boat reveals why the lagoon shaped Venetian life for centuries. Around St. Mark’s, elaborate stonework and ceremonial buildings recall the wealth and influence of the former maritime republic.

Watch Venetian glassblowing at a workshop, where craftspeople shape heated glass using techniques passed down through generations. See the precision needed to turn molten material into delicate decorative pieces.

Glassmaking has been closely associated with Venice, particularly Murano, for centuries. This demonstration offers a close view of a living craft and the skill behind the glass objects found throughout the city.

Explore Verona and admire the remarkably preserved Roman Arena beside the open expanse of Piazza Bra. The city’s historic setting is also famously associated with Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Built in the first century CE, the Arena remains a powerful reminder of Verona’s Roman past. Around it, broad piazzas and later buildings show how the city has continued to grow around its ancient landmarks.

Visit Pisa’s Piazza dei Miracoli to view the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the cathedral and the baptistery. Set together on a broad green square, these monuments form one of Italy’s most distinctive architectural ensembles.

The UNESCO-listed complex reflects Pisa’s medieval wealth and maritime importance. The tower’s famous tilt draws the eye, while the neighbouring religious buildings give a fuller picture of the city’s artistic ambition.

Meet Anna and Alberto at Castello del Trebbio, a 12th-century castle set among Tuscan vineyards and olive groves. Enjoy a traditional buffet, explore the cellars and taste olive oil and wine in a locally hosted setting.

The visit also brings to light the historic feud between the Pazzi and Medici families. Food, local produce and the castle’s long history make this a personal introduction to the Tuscan countryside.

Walk through Florence with a Local Specialist to see Piazza della Signoria, the marble-clad Duomo, its bell tower and the Baptistery. Discover the narrow streets leading to Ponte Vecchio, the medieval bridge lined with jewellers.

Florence was a centre of Renaissance art and Medici influence, yet its medieval character remains visible in its streets and civic spaces. This guided exploration connects the city’s landmarks with the history that shaped them.
