Additional information

Explore the western arc of the Catinaccio/Rosengarten on a high-level traverse linking panoramic huts. Ascend by cable car to Ciampedie and follow airy paths across terraces to the welcoming Baita Marino Pederiva, where dolomite walls soar above rolling pastures and flowered ledges.

Your leader shares the tale of King Laurin and the enrosadira glow that paints these cliffs at dusk. The route continues across balcony paths before descending by the Paolina lift, with the Latemar and Sella groups unfolding on the skyline in crystalline clarity.

Traverse the old mule track of the Viel dal Pan, a natural balcony facing Marmolada, the highest summit in the Dolomites. From Lago di Fedaia, contour west across flowered slopes as your leader points out wartime remnants and glacier-carved ridges on the horizon.

Ride the cable car to Sass Pordoi – the ‘Terrace of the Dolomites’ for a short ‘Moonwalk’ to sweeping viewpoints toward Piz Boè and the Sella plateau. Return by lift to the pass before continuing toward Canazei along gentle valley paths framed by limestone ramparts.

Climb into the heart of the Catinaccio via the Val di Vajolet, where needle-like towers frame a classic alpine amphitheatre. Ascend by cable car to Ciampedie, walk through Gardeccia pastures, and tackle the steeper path toward the celebrated Vajolet Towers, with your leader setting a steady, confidence-building pace.

Break at Rifugio Principe to gaze across a sea of pale limestone and hear stories of pioneering climbers who first scaled these spires. The return follows panoramic paths past grazing pastures and tumbling streams, with time to savour the hush between cliff and sky.

Follow an airy ridgeline walk from Sella Brunech to the summit of L’Aut, with the Marmolada range and Val di Fassa spread below. Lift access gains the height efficiently, leaving time to admire edelweiss patches and the crest’s ever-changing perspectives.

Here the rock turns dark; this corner of the range is shaped by black lava rather than pale dolomite, a striking geological contrast your leader explains with local insight. Refuel at Rifugio Ciampac before the gondola descent and an unhurried riverside amble back toward Campitello.

Meet your Tour Leaders in Campitello for a comprehensive trail and safety briefing covering weather, terrain, and daily choices. Learn how to switch between Activity Levels during the week and what to pack for high-altitude conditions, ensuring comfort and confidence on the trails.

Gain local insight into lift systems, waymarking standards, and mountain-hut customs, plus guidance on pacing, hydration, and sun protection. This session helps you read the landscape like a local so you begin hiking with clarity, good judgement, and shared group expectations.

Take an optional day trip to Bolzano to visit the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, home to Otzi the Iceman, a 5,300-year-old glacier mummy preserved with remarkable detail.

Study his Copper Age toolkit—copper axe, bow, quiver, and layered clothing—and explore exhibits that illuminate prehistoric Alpine life and trade. There may be time to wander Bolzano’s arcaded streets or enjoy a café stop. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Unwind at QC Terme Dolomiti in Pozza di Fassa, a serene spa complex nestled among forests and peaks. Drift between outdoor thermal pools, sensory waterfalls, and relaxation rooms with sweeping valley views.

Continue through a steam and sauna circuit, cold mists, and salt rooms before reclining with herbal infusions in quiet lounges. This restorative interlude pairs beautifully with a hiking week. The experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Explore at your own pace along the Avisio River cycle path, a mostly level route linking Campitello, Canazei, Pozza, and Moena. Hire a bike in Campitello and pedal through meadows, spruce woods, and hamlets on a traffic-free track with plentiful café stops.

Ride beneath the ramparts of the Sella and Sassolungo, passing chapels and wayside bridges in the alpine villages of Val di Fassa. Stop to pause for photos and reflection where torrents braid over stones. Bike rental is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Hike the southern flank of the Sassolungo/Sasso Piatto massif on balcony trails and meadow paths. Ride the cable car to Col Rodella and join a guided hike beneath the limestone towers toward Rifugio Sasso Piatto, with wide views to the Sella and Marmolada groups, led by International Mountain Leaders.

Traverse high paths before a rewarding descent into the Val Duron, a pastoral valley of larch, dairies, and spring gentians. Stop for refreshments at Rifugio Micheluzzi, then return to Campitello by shuttle, legs pleasantly tired and camera full of ridge-line panoramas.

The hotel restaurant serves generous breakfasts and traditional evening meals. On certain days, you need to buy food in local shops for packed lunches, or certain walks may offer the opportunity to buy lunch at a mountain hut en route – please note, the mountain huts may not be able to cater for special diets. You may also want snacks for the walks, which you can either bring with you or buy from the local supermarket.
