Alnwick Town Walk & Alnwick Castle
Explore Alnwick’s medieval streets on a short orientation before you step inside Alnwick Castle, the grand Northumberland stronghold famed for its Hogwarts film locations. Wander the lavish State Rooms, admire Italianate interiors, and enjoy the contrast between fortified battlements and manicured grounds.
Founded as an 11th-century Norman fortress and later home to the Percy family, the castle charts centuries of border warfare and aristocratic refinement. Guides spotlight art, architecture, and anecdotes that bring this storied seat to life.
Alnmouth Coastal Village Walk
Stroll the estuary path to walk the Alnmouth estuary, where pastel fishermen’s cottages overlook sweeping sands and a broad, tidal river mouth. Browse an inviting high street of galleries, cafés, and pubs, and pause for photos and reflection by the dunes and harbour.
Once a working port reshaped by changing sands, Alnmouth now blends maritime heritage with easygoing seaside charm. Expect seabirds over the sandbars, salt-tinged air, and time to soak in the coastal atmosphere at your own pace.
Holy Island of Lindisfarne & Priory Ruins
Venture to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, a tidal sanctuary of shifting light and big skies. Visit the 12th-century priory ruins, where stone arches frame sea views and the echoes of monastic life linger among weathered carvings and red sandstone walls.
Revered as the birthplace of Christianity in England, Lindisfarne was a beacon of early faith and learning. Trace coastal paths, scan for seals and seabirds, and walk past Lindisfarne Castle by Sir Edwin Lutyens, perched high above the dunes.
Bamburgh Castle Tour
Tour Bamburgh Castle, a dramatic clifftop stronghold set on a volcanic outcrop above endless dunes and the surf of the North Sea. Step through grand halls and armoury rooms, and gaze across Farne Islands and the long beaches below.
With more than 1,400 years of strategic significance and appearances in the Netflix series The Last Kingdom, the castle weaves tales of kings, coastal battles, and Victorian restoration. Expect sweeping North Sea views and superb photo vantage points.
Hadrian’s Wall Hike, The Sill & Vindolanda Roman Fort
Begin by learning at The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre, then hike a section of Hadrian’s Wall across open moor and rocky crags. Traverse iconic ridgelines and pause for photos and reflection near the famed Sycamore Gap site, absorbing big skies and frontier solitude.
Continue to visit Vindolanda Roman Fort, where ongoing excavations and museum displays reveal everyday life on Rome’s far-flung frontier—boots, tools, and rare writing tablets. The UNESCO-listed Wall’s 73 miles once defined an empire’s edge; here, its atmosphere still feels tangible.
Cat Bells Hike & Derwentwater Ferry
Hike Cat Bells, a beloved Lake District fell with short rocky steps, gentle scrambles, and panoramas over Derwentwater and Borrowdale. The airy spine rewards each effort with widening views of wooded islands and a classic amphitheatre of fells.
Round off the outing by cruising Derwentwater on a heritage launch, gliding past tree-clad shores and mirror-calm bays. This combination of airy ridge walking and serene lake passage distils the region’s landscape into one satisfying experience.
Helvellyn Guided Summit Walk
Summit Helvellyn on a well-graded mountain path, gaining height steadily to a broad plateau with wide-angle views across the Lake District. Peaks crowd the horizon while Ullswater and Thirlmere glint between ridgelines.
With a qualified leader, you’ll join a guided mountain ascent paced for the group, focusing on footing, weather awareness, and rewarding rest points. Celebrate completing one of England’s classic hikes amid rugged scenery shaped by ice and time.
Alnwick Castle Broomstick Lesson or Archery
Channel the castle’s film magic with playful broomstick training in the grounds or hone your aim as you try your hand at archery. Instructors share tips and stage fun photo moments against the backdrop of Hogwarts film locations and medieval walls.
This add-on is bookable on tour at additional cost and subject to availability at Alnwick Castle. It’s a light-hearted complement to the castle’s history and a favourite for families and Harry Potter fans alike.
