Learn about native grapes such as Nerello Mascalese and Carricante, grown on ancient lava terraces at altitude. Pairings might include aged pecorino and ricotta infornata, whose textures and salinity echo the mountain’s soils—an elegant snapshot of Sicilian craftsmanship and landscape in each glass.

Gather to meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers over a convivial welcome dinner in Viagrande. Share first tastes of Etnean cuisine—perhaps caponata, pasta alla Norma, or grilled swordfish—paired with local wines that speak of altitude and ash-rich soils.

Set within a village long linked to the volcano, this meal eases you into Sicily’s generous hospitality. Conversation, seasonal ingredients, and Etnean specialities set the tone for the cultural and culinary discoveries ahead.

Explore the Neapolis Archaeological Park with a local expert to encounter the grand Greek Theatre, the sweeping Roman Amphitheatre, and the acoustically intriguing Ear of Dionysius. Paths thread through quarries and citrus, framing a city that once rivaled Athens in power and culture.

Continue to island-born Ortygia for baroque piazzas, limestone lanes, and sea-breeze vistas. Pause by Piazza Duomo and the Fountain of Arethusa to appreciate how layered civilisations—Greek, Byzantine, Arab, Norman—left a graceful, salt-tinged elegance in stone and light.

Wander Noto’s baroque streets, where honey-colored palazzi glow in the late light and ornate balconies cast lacy shadows. Step onto Corso Vittorio Emanuele toward the domes and stairways of the Cathedral of San Nicolò, a textbook of Sicilian baroque drama.

Discover how the 1693 earthquake led to a masterful city rebuild across the UNESCO-listed Val di Noto. Urban planning, theatrical facades, and local limestone converge here to create a stage-set beauty—refined, harmonious, and uniquely Sicilian.

Walk the labyrinth of Ragusa Ibla, a hilltop quarter stitched with stairways, pocket gardens, and sun-warmed stone. Gaze up at the tiered facade of Duomo di San Giorgio, then meander beneath sculpted corbels and wrought-iron balconies.

Rebuilt after the 1693 quake, Ibla embodies late baroque artistry expressed in creamy limestone and quiet piazzas. The setting blends views over olive-dotted valleys with intimate lanes—an atmospheric window onto everyday life in Sicily’s southeastern highlands.

Experience the Valley of the Temples, a ridge of Doric grandeur set amid olive and almond trees. Walk with a guide past the near-intact Temple of Concordia, the commanding Temple of Juno, and the storied Temple of Heracles, whose columns rise from ochre earth.

Hear tales of ancient Akragas, a Greek city famed for wealth and philosophers. Architectural lines, Mediterranean light, and coastal breezes combine to reveal classical Sicily at its most sculptural and serene.

Roam the vast Selinunte Archaeological Park, where toppled drums and upright colonnades chart a lost Greek metropolis. Stand amid Doric temples that overlook the sea and trace avenues of an sea-lapped acropolis open to wind and horizon.

Learn how Selinus flourished until the 409 BCE Carthaginian sack, after which time stilled these coastal sanctuaries. The blend of surf, wildflowers, and golden stone creates a memorable dialogue between nature and antiquity.

Ascend to Erice, a medieval aerie of mist and cobbles with sweeping sea views. Wander narrow alleys to the cliff-edge Castello di Venere, explore quiet churches, and linger along cobblestone lanes perfumed with almonds and citrus.

Discover the town’s age-old pastry craft—think delicate genovesi and marzipan fruits—rooted in convent kitchens and local harvests. Stone arches, tiled courtyards, and artisan bakeries conjure a timeless Sicilian mood above the salt plains below.

Join a concise orientation walk through Trapani’s historic core, a maritime fan of streets edged by coral workshops and baroque facades. Take in sea air along the bastions and note churches that reflect centuries of Mediterranean trade.

Unpack the city’s salt-working heritage and coral craftsmanship, traditions that shaped its identity and economy. This guided overview helps you navigate lively lanes, waterfront promenades, and evening dining spots with confidence and local context.

Walk cliffside paths through dwarf palms and thyme-scented maquis, where limestone walls meet ultramarine coves. In Zingaro, you’ll walk coastal trails above turquoise coves, with chances to descend for a refreshing dip in crystal shallows.

Created as Sicily’s first nature reserve, Zingaro protects endemic flora, raptors, and a coastline free of roads. The interplay of dwarf palms and thyme-scented maquis with wave-polished pebbles offers a restorative, camera-ready slice of Mediterranean wilderness.

Marvel at Monreale Cathedral, where more than 6,000 square meters of golden Byzantine mosaics shimmer across nave and apse. Gaze up at the commanding Christ Pantocrator and trace biblical cycles rendered in jewel-like tesserae.

Stroll the medieval lanes to the old washhouse and tiny port where fishing boats bob in a crescent bay. Sandstone hues, laundry-draped balconies, and sea spray combine in a compact tableau of Sicilian coastal life.

Explore the Teatro Antico di Taormina, an amphitheatre poised between sky and sea. Climb stone tiers carved by the Greeks and later adapted by Romans to frame the island’s most iconic backdrop: Etna and Ionian Sea views.

Arches, brickwork, and the theatre’s perfect siting reveal ancient mastery of acoustics and spectacle. Beyond the stage, bougainvillea-draped lanes and perfumed gardens add a finishing note of Sicilian dolce vita.

Opt to ascend by cable car and 4×4 toward Etna’s summit area, reaching high-altitude viewpoints with a certified volcanology guide. Step onto ash ridges, feel the temperature drop, and survey smoking vents and expansive lava deserts.

Routes vary with conditions and regulations; the experience is weather-dependent. This is an optional excursion at additional cost, bookable on tour, offering a closer look at the restless forces that shape Sicily’s skyline.

Discover the living geology of Mount Etna on a guided hike across rippled lava fields and banks of black ash. Trace the rims of volcanic craters, pass old lava flows hardened into strange ropes and waves, and feel the altitude air cool as wide views open toward the Ionian coast.
