Trafalgar

Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over a light meal in Athens. This hosted gathering offers a chance to get acquainted, ask questions and settle into the rhythm of the journey.

Conversation turns to the Greek capital and the Cycladic islands of Santorini and Mykonos. It is a sociable introduction to the people and places that shape the tour, rather than a formal sightseeing visit.

Explore Athens with a Local Specialist and visit the Acropolis and Parthenon, where Athenians once honoured their patron goddess, Athena. See the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch and the Panathenaic Stadium, venue of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.

At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, watch for the distinctive ceremonial march of the Evzone guards. Together, these landmarks reveal a city where ancient civic life and modern Greek identity remain closely intertwined.

Discover Santorini on an included orientation that introduces the island’s striking volcanic landscape and clifftop settlements. Take in the contrast between whitewashed buildings and multicoloured caldera cliffs, with the Aegean spreading out below.

The island’s crescent shape is the legacy of an ancient volcanic eruption. Its steep-sided setting gives Santorini a character unlike the flatter Cycladic islands and helps make its towns, sea views and sunsets so distinctive.

Share a meal of Greek cuisine with your travelling companions on Santorini. The included dinner is a chance to linger over local flavours and conversation in the setting of one of the Aegean’s most distinctive islands.

Greek dining is rooted in the pleasure of eating together, with dishes often drawing on olive oil, vegetables, herbs and seafood. The occasion offers a taste of that convivial tradition without promising a set menu or particular venue.

Get your bearings in Mykonos with an orientation of Chora, the island’s main town. View the Windmills of Kato Mili above the bay and discover streets edged with whitewashed houses, blue details and bright bougainvillea.

These windmills recall an era when island breezes powered the milling of grain. Chora’s closely packed lanes reflect a traditional Cycladic townscape, giving you a sense of place beyond Mykonos’s beach clubs and nightlife.

Visit a local Santorini winery to learn about winemaking on this volcanic island and raise a glass to its caldera scenery. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Santorini’s mineral-rich soils and dry, windy conditions have shaped a distinctive wine tradition. Local growers famously train many vines low to the ground in basket-like forms, protecting the grapes from strong winds and intense sun.

Ride a traditional caïque across Santorini’s caldera towards the volcanic island of Nea Kameni, with an opportunity to swim in nearby warm waters. This optional excursion is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Seen from the water, Santorini’s villages perch high above the sea on the rim of an ancient volcanic basin. The dark volcanic terrain and geothermal waters offer a close-up perspective on the forces that formed the island’s landscape.
