Additional information

Follow Delphi’s Sacred Way with a Local Expert, passing the Treasury of the Athenians and the closely fitted stones of the Polygonal Wall. Climb the sanctuary on the slopes of Mount Parnassus towards the Temple of Apollo.

Ancient visitors came to Delphi to consult Apollo’s oracle on matters of public and private importance. Exploring the surviving monuments reveals how offerings, architecture and the dramatic mountain setting reinforced the sanctuary’s influence across the Greek world.

  • 5 Dinner (D)
  • 6 Breakfast (B)
  • Olympia: Join a local chef who will share their passion for local ingredients and high-quality products. Learn how to make tzatziki and other regional dishes during a fun and immersive cooking demonstration.

Insight Vacations

  • Hand sanitizer is freely available on board for you to use throughout the day.

Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over a welcome dinner in Athens. Taste local cuisine and settle into the convivial rhythm of a Greek meal, where conversation is as much a part of the occasion as the food.

Greek cooking draws on ingredients such as olive oil, seasonal vegetables and coastal produce. This shared dinner offers an introduction to those flavours and to the people travelling with you.

Explore ancient Athens with a Local Expert, seeing the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Arch of Hadrian before ascending the Acropolis. Admire the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Caryatid figures of the Erechtheion.

The hilltop sanctuary was the ceremonial heart of classical Athens. Its surviving temples reveal the city’s architectural ambition, while their elevated setting opens broad views across the modern capital. This included Insight Choice activity is an alternative to the guided Plaka walk.

Walk through Plaka with your Travel Director, exploring the narrow streets and tucked-away corners of Athens’ historic neighbourhood beneath the Acropolis. See how older buildings, small squares and everyday street life sit alongside the city’s ancient landmarks.

Known as the “Neighbourhood of the Gods”, Plaka offers a close-up view of Athens beyond its monumental sites. The guided walk includes the area around pedestrianised Adrianou, with its cafés and shops. This included Insight Choice activity is an alternative to the ancient-sites visit.

View the monument to King Leonidas near Thermopylae, where a Spartan-led Greek force resisted the Persian army of Xerxes I in 480 BC. Pause at the memorial and consider the narrow pass that made this defensive stand possible.

The landscape has changed since antiquity, but the site remains closely associated with one of the best-known battles of the Greco-Persian Wars. Its monument honours the defenders and the role terrain played in delaying the Persian advance.

Get to know Kalambaka with your Travel Director in an orientation of the town at the foot of Meteora. Look up at the immense rock towers that rise beyond its streets and give the town its striking setting.

Kalambaka is a gateway to the monasteries perched high above the Thessalian plain. This orientation helps put the town and surrounding landscape in context, from the inhabited valley floor to the isolated pinnacles that drew monastic communities centuries ago.

Visit one of Meteora’s historic monasteries with a Local Expert, surrounded by sheer rock pinnacles above the Peneios Valley. Take in the views and discover how religious communities established places of worship in this seemingly inaccessible landscape.

Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known for monasteries built atop sandstone towers from the medieval period onward. The combination of monastic heritage and unusual geology makes this one of Greece’s most distinctive cultural landscapes.

Explore the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games at Olympia. See the remains of the Temple of Zeus and the athletes’ gymnasium, and enter the ancient stadium, where stone markers still define the sprint track’s start and finish.

The games were held here from 776 BC in honour of Zeus; the stadium also hosted the Heraia, women’s contests associated with Hera. A photograph at the starting line offers a tangible connection to the athletes who competed on this ground.

Join a local chef for an immersive cooking demonstration in Olympia, learning how regional ingredients become familiar Greek dishes. Watch the preparation of tzatziki and other specialities before sitting down to savour the flavours at dinner.

Olive oil, locally grown produce and Greek cheeses are central to the cooking showcased here. The chef’s demonstration brings those ingredients and techniques into focus, making the meal an opportunity to understand the food traditions of the region as well as taste them.

Enter Mycenae through the Lion Gate with a Local Expert and walk among the citadel’s massive Cyclopean walls. Visit the royal beehive, or tholos, tombs and examine the remains of a major Late Bronze Age centre.

Mycenae played a powerful role in the Greek world long before the classical era. Its fortifications and burial places offer evidence of Mycenaean kingship, craftsmanship and wealth, while archaeology helps distinguish the people who lived here from the legends associated with the site.

Discover Nafplio with your Travel Director on an orientation of this coastal town. See neoclassical buildings and waterfront promenades beneath the commanding Palamidi fortress, and get a feel for its streets, cafés and colourful shopfronts.

Nafplio served as Greece’s first capital following independence. Its public architecture and harbour setting reflect that formative period, while the fortress above the town recalls its longer, layered history. The orientation brings these features into focus without requiring an extended guided tour.

Meet artisan Maria Gonidou and her daughter Nefeli at their Nafplio atelier. Watch a live demonstration on an ancient-style loom and learn about the hand-weaving techniques behind their textiles, with an opportunity to browse the family’s finished pieces.

This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience connects travellers with a living Greek craft rather than a museum display. The visit supports a family-run business and helps sustain skills passed between generations, contributing to the preservation of local cultural heritage.

Look down into the Corinth Canal from a crossing point and see its narrow waterway cut between steep limestone walls. The channel separates the Peloponnese from mainland Greece and provides a striking view of nineteenth-century engineering.

Opened in 1893, the approximately 6.3-kilometre canal links waters on either side of the Isthmus of Corinth, avoiding the long voyage around the Peloponnese. Its height and slender width are especially apparent from above, making the viewpoint the focus of this brief scenic visit.

Share a Greek-style dinner at a local Athens restaurant with your fellow travellers. Gather around the table for regional flavours and conversation in the capital, closing the journey with a hosted meal rather than a routine hotel dinner.

Communal dining is an enduring part of Greek social life. The restaurant setting offers space to revisit the landscapes, archaeological sites and local traditions encountered across Greece, while enjoying the generous, convivial atmosphere that defines a meal shared in good company.

  • Business class coach with extended leg room
  • Top-rated dining, from farm-to-table to local restaurants
  • 4 & 5-star stays
