Guided Snowshoe Hike in Oulanka National Park

Cross-Country Ski Lesson on Juuma Lake
With expert instruction, master the basics of cross-country skiing on the frozen expanse of Juuma Lake. Practice balance, glide, and braking on forgiving terrain where the soft snow cushioning gentle tumbles keeps spirits high and progress swift.

Husky Dogsledding in Riisitunturi National Park
At a local husky farm, meet a pack of huskies and learn how to mush your own team before setting off two-per-sled into Riisitunturi National Park. As the dogs find their rhythm, the forest opens to rolling forest trails, and the only sound is runners whispering over snow.
Guides share working-dog care and Lapland mushing traditions while you trace a 10km route among snowy fells and candle-spruce. It’s an exhilarating, hands-on way to experience the park’s serene, snow-laden wilderness.
Night Snowshoeing in Search of the Northern Lights
Venture out on a nighttime snowshoe beyond basecamp’s glow, letting your eyes adjust to the starlit silence. Trails thread through a frosted forest and over open snowfields where, on clear nights, the Northern Lights may ripple across the sky.
Your guide explains local tales and the science of auroral displays as you pause to listen for the soft crunch of snow. Even without aurora, the moonlit landscape and deep Arctic quiet create a memorably tranquil evening.
Arctic Wilderness Skills: Quinzee-Building & Fire-Making
Work as a team to master quinzee-building: piling, compacting, and hollowing snow into a robust shelter. Under expert guidance, refine safe shovel techniques, check wall thickness, and practice fire-making to round out essential Arctic survival skills.
