Amsterdam Canal Cruise
Cruise Amsterdam’s tree-lined canals to discover the waterways at the heart of its old city. Look out for narrow canal houses, bridges and waterside streets from a perspective that reveals how closely the city’s life is tied to water.
Many of the grand canal-side mansions recall Amsterdam’s 17th-century Golden Age, when maritime trade helped shape the city’s wealth and architecture. Your Travel Director’s welcome reception makes the cruise a relaxed opportunity to meet fellow travellers.
Amsterdam Welcome Dinner
Share a welcome dinner with wine at a local restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over an evening meal in the city’s historic centre, rather than simply dining at the hotel.
Amsterdam’s compact streets and canals provide the setting for a sociable introduction to the journey. The hosted dinner is an opportunity to exchange first impressions of the Dutch capital and get to know the people travelling alongside you.
Rhine Valley Cruise from Boppard to Sankt Goar
Cruise the Rhine from Boppard to Sankt Goar, passing steep vineyards, wooded slopes and castles above the river. Enjoy a glass of local wine as the boat approaches the legendary Lorelei Rock, long associated with tales of a siren whose song lured sailors into danger.
Look for the silhouettes of Burg Rheinfels, Burg Katz and Burg Maus along this storied stretch of the Rhine Gorge. The river-level view brings its centuries of trade, fortifications and folklore into focus.
Würzburg’s Alte Mainbrücke and Marienberg Fortress Views
Stand on Wurzburg’s statue-lined Alte Mainbrucke and take in views across the River Main to Marienberg Fortress. The historic bridge offers a distinctive vantage point on a city known for its baroque architecture and Franconian wine-making heritage.
Its stone figures and riverside setting invite a closer look at Wurzburg’s layered history. Above the city, the fortress recalls the power of the prince-bishops who ruled here, while vineyards on the surrounding slopes show the region’s enduring connection to wine.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber Medieval Town Exploration
Explore Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a remarkably preserved town on Germany’s Romantic Road. Discover its old-town streets and look for the medieval walls, towers and gates that still define its skyline.
Rothenburg’s fortified setting makes its medieval past unusually tangible: stone defences frame a townscape of gabled buildings and cobbled lanes. Rather than viewing a single monument, you can appreciate how the surviving streets and fortifications work together to create the character of the old town.

Budapest City Sights and Buda Old Town Walk
Explore Budapest with a Local Expert, taking in Andrássy Avenue and Heroes’ Square before walking the lanes of Buda’s Old Town. At Fisherman’s Bastion, pause for broad views across the Danube to Pest.
The panorama brings the capital’s two historic halves into focus, linked by the Chain Bridge and Elizabeth Bridge. Monumental avenues contrast with the quieter streets of Castle Hill, revealing both the imperial scale of Budapest and the intimate character of its older quarter.
Liszt Music Academy Student Tour and Recital
Tour Budapest’s Liszt Music Academy with a student and listen to a recital in the institution where musicians continue to train. The student-led visit offers a personal perspective on the academy’s working life as well as its musical heritage.
Founded in 1875 by the virtuoso pianist and composer Franz Liszt, the academy remains closely associated with Hungary’s rich classical-music tradition. Hearing a performance here connects that history to the talent studying and performing today.
Vienna Ringstrasse and Historic Centre Tour
Discover Vienna with a Local Expert on a tour encompassing the grand Ringstrasse and a walk through the Innere Stadt, the capital’s historic core. See landmarks including the Hofburg Imperial Residence, Opera House, Parliament Building and Karlskirche.
The Ringstrasse follows the line of Vienna’s former city walls, its monumental buildings reflecting the ambitions of the Habsburg-era capital. On foot in the first district, experience a different scale of Vienna among streets shaped by centuries of civic and imperial life.
Viennese Coffee and Cake
Sit down for traditional coffee and cake at a cosy Vienna café. Share a table and mingle with locals in a setting that offers more than a quick refreshment stop: this visit is an introduction to the city’s social ritual of lingering over coffee.
Vienna’s café culture has long provided space for conversation and companionship. The selected café also promotes community well-being and support, giving this sweet pause a local purpose alongside its familiar flavours.
Venice Giudecca Canal Boat Orientation
Travel by boat along the Giudecca Canal as your Travel Director introduces Venice from the water. Pass palazzi dating from the 13th to the 18th centuries and take in views towards the Doge’s Palace and St Mark’s Square.
Waterborne arrival is a distinctive way to understand a city built around canals rather than roads. From the boat, the succession of historic facades reveals Venice’s long relationship with trade, ceremony and maritime power.
St Mark’s Square Cocktail and Venetian Dinner
Sip a cocktail beside Piazza San Marco while musicians perform, and experience the square’s early-evening atmosphere. A walk past the Doge’s Palace and Bridge of Sighs leads into Venice’s historic centre for a restaurant dinner with wine.
The piazza has long been Venice’s ceremonial gathering place, framed by buildings that speak to the former republic’s wealth and authority. Music, stone facades and narrow streets make this hosted evening a cultural experience rather than a standard hotel meal.
St Mark’s Square and Venetian Landmarks
Visit St Mark’s Square to see the exterior of its great Basilica, the Clock Tower and the soaring Campanile. Nearby, view the Doge’s Palace and Bridge of Sighs, landmarks closely tied to the former Venetian Republic.
The square was the ceremonial centre of a maritime power whose influence reached across the Mediterranean. Its clustered monuments make Venice’s political and religious history visible in one place, from the palace of its elected ruler to the basilica that anchors the piazza.
Venetian Glassblowing Workshop
Watch Venetian artisans demonstrate glassblowing in a traditional workshop. See how heat and practiced hand movements turn molten glass into delicate handcrafted pieces, and learn about techniques preserved by a small number of skilled makers.
Venice’s glassmaking tradition stretches back centuries and became especially associated with the lagoon island of Murano. Seeing the craft at work reveals the precision behind objects often admired only in shop windows, as well as the heritage the artisans continue to protect.
Prague River Cruise
Cruise through the heart of Prague on an optional river outing, viewing the city’s historic skyline from the water. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
The Vltava winds through Prague beneath bridges and between its historic districts. A boat offers a different perspective on the city’s spires and riverside architecture, with time to enjoy the changing views without navigating the busy streets. Ask your Travel Director for the available cruise details.
Private Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens Tour
Join a private tour of Schonbrunn Palace and its formal gardens in Vienna. Explore a residence associated with Empress Maria Theresa and the Habsburg court. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Schonbrunn’s grand rooms and carefully planned grounds express the scale and ceremony of imperial life. The guided visit provides context for the people who lived and governed here, while the gardens reveal how architecture and landscape were designed to work together.
Burano Lagoon Cruise and Local Dinner
Cruise the Venetian lagoon to Burano for a meal of local specialities and wine. This optional island outing is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Burano is known for its brightly coloured houses and lace-making tradition, a character distinct from central Venice’s grand palazzi and busy canals. The journey across the lagoon and the island meal offer a chance to experience another side of Venetian life. Ask your Travel Director about the available arrangements.
