Our optional excursion takes us to the market town of Chichester, which began as a Roman settlement. Historic remains are still evident today in the town centre, spread around the market cross along with hidden gardens, secret waterways and a range of cafés. We then make our way to Arundel, with its fascinating past and contemporary culture. Nestled around a fairytale castle, the pretty streets are full of cosy tearooms, art galleries and quirky antique shops.

Full Day

Experience the chalk heights of Beachy Head within the South Downs National Park. Follow gentle downland paths to sweeping viewpoints over the gleaming Seven Sisters and the red-and-white Beachy Head Lighthouse, framed by sea and sky.

Learn how these 530-foot cliffs were carved by wind and waves, with skylarks overhead and salt on the air. Time here invites a pause for photos and reflection as the Channel stretches toward the horizon and the lighthouse stands sentinel below.

Step into the Norman Conquest’s legacy in Battle, where views across the 1066 battlefield meet the fortified gateway of Battle Abbey. Browse independent shops along the historic high street and trace the contours of the landscape that shaped England’s destiny.

Explore the characterful lanes of Hastings Old Town, flanked by half-timbered houses and black fishing net huts. Ascend to clifftop viewpoints for panoramas toward the Norman castle remains and the long shingle shore that has anchored this working seaside town for centuries.

Explore Chichester’s compact centre, set within surviving Roman walls and gathered around the elegant market cross. Admire the soaring spire and medieval artistry of Chichester Cathedral, and discover quiet gardens and waterways tucked behind Georgian facades.

Chichester pairs with riverside Arundel, a pretty town clustered beneath Arundel Castle where galleries, antique shops and cosy tearooms invite lingering. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour, appealing to travellers who enjoy historic streetscapes and mellow river views.

Discover Brighton’s seaside energy on an orientation along the seafront promenade, taking in the arcades of Brighton Palace Pier and the onion-domed Royal Pavilion. Stroll the maze-like The Lanes, where narrow alleys brim with jewellers, vintage boutiques and street-side cafés.

Absorb the resort’s Regency character shaped by George IV, whose fantastical palace signalled Brighton’s golden age. Hear buskers by the pebbly beach, admire crescents of stuccoed townhouses and feel the relaxed holiday rhythm that has drawn visitors for more than two centuries.
