Looe ‘Beyond Paradise’ Filming Locations Guided Walk
Join a guided Beyond Paradise walking tour through Looe’s harbour, lanes and beach, uncovering the real spots that stand in for Shipton Abbott. Match screen moments to streets and piers around the Banjo Pier and enjoy behind-the-scenes stories from filming.
Along the way, hear how this centuries-old fishing town—with its tide-split East and West Looe, medieval church and sandy crescent—shapes the show’s small-town feel. Smugglers’ lore, fish markets and sea air add texture to the drama’s coastal world.
Port Eliot House & Gardens Admission
Step inside Port Eliot House & Gardens with included admission, exploring grand rooms, riverside lawns and the Stable Café setting from the series. Wander beneath veteran trees and across landscaped parkland, discovering art-filled interiors that blend priory remnants with country-house elegance.
Set beside the Lynher estuary at St Germans, this Grade I estate has roots in a medieval monastery and later designs linked to Humphry Repton. As the ancestral seat of the Eliot family, it offers a vivid window onto Cornwall’s layered past.
Charlestown Harbour & Tall Ships
Explore the Georgian harbour of Charlestown, where square-rigged tall ships ride at anchor and cobbled quays frame sea-salted views. Wander between granite harbour walls, lime kilns and weathered storehouses, soaking up a working port preserved in time, and pause for photos and reflection along the outer harbour.
Built by industrialist Charles Rashleigh in the late 1700s to export china clay, the harbour is now Grade II* listed and a favourite stand-in for period dramas, including Poldark. Maritime heritage and Atlantic light create a cinematic coastal mood.
Padstow Harbour & Camel Estuary Stroll
Wander the Padstow Harbour waterfront, flanked by stone warehouses, fishing boats and café terraces, before tracing the edge of the Camel Estuary. Watch tides stripe the sandbanks, browse independent shops and feel the hum of a working fishing port.
From medieval quays to today’s celebrated food scene, Padstow blends heritage with coastal energy. Follow the South West Coast Path for breezy viewpoints towards Doom Bar and Stepper Point, or linger by the harbour with salt-scented air and gulls overhead.
Dartmouth Waterfront & River Dart Quayside
Explore the waterfront of Dartmouth, where galleries and bobbing boats line the quays. Take in sweeping views across the River Dart to Kingswear and pause for photos and reflection by the water’s edge. Stroll the historic Butterwalk and browse independent shops and cafés.
With a deep maritime past, the Dartmouth Castle still guards the estuary, while Bayard’s Cove Fort and the Britannia Royal Naval College overlook the town. Expect salty breezes, gull calls and an easy harbour rhythm.
