The visit offers a personal view of Swiss rural life through the people who run the farm. Conversation around the table brings local hospitality and food traditions into focus, making this more than a restaurant dinner or a brief countryside stop.
Bernina Pass Scenic Rail Experience
Travel across the Bernina Pass on an optional scenic rail experience from the St. Moritz area. Watch high-altitude terrain unfold along a route celebrated for the way it threads through the Alps.
The Bernina railway is part of the UNESCO-listed Rhaetian Railway landscape, known for its engineering and mountain setting. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour, offering a closer look at the Engadin region’s dramatic railway scenery.
Klein Matterhorn Mountain Excursion
Ascend towards the Klein Matterhorn on an optional excursion from Zermatt for expansive views of the surrounding peaks. This is an opportunity to experience the high-alpine environment from a vantage point well above the resort.
Look out across the mountain landscape and towards the Matterhorn, weather permitting. Conditions at altitude can change quickly, so clear views are never guaranteed. The excursion is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Swiss Folklore Show & Fondue Dinner
Enjoy a Swiss folklore show with a fondue dinner during an evening in Lucerne. Music and an invitation to try yodelling give the meal a playful, participatory character.
Fondue is a Swiss tradition built around sharing melted cheese at the table, while yodelling has roots in Alpine musical culture. This hosted evening brings both together in a sociable setting. It is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Mountain Peak Excursion from Lucerne
Explore a mountain peak near Lucerne on an optional excursion into the alpine landscape surrounding the city. From higher ground, the region’s lakes, valleys and ridgelines take on a different scale.
Lucerne is a gateway to central Switzerland’s mountains, making a peak visit a contrast with its medieval streets and waterfront. The specific mountain and views depend on the excursion offered and the weather. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Zürich Social-Impact Old Town Walk
Explore Zurich’s Old Town with a socially engaged local guide, discovering its historic lanes through stories of the people who live and work here. Diana and her team offer a perspective that goes beyond the city’s familiar landmarks.
Hear about food insecurity and local community changemakers as you walk. This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experience supports efforts to reduce inequalities, connecting Zurich’s rich urban heritage with the challenges and initiatives shaping the city today.
Zürich Welcome Dinner
Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over a hosted welcome dinner in Zurich. The shared meal offers a relaxed introduction to your group and the Swiss journey ahead.
As Switzerland’s largest city, Zurich brings together an old town, a working waterfront and a lively contemporary culture. The dinner is a chance to settle in, exchange first impressions and begin experiencing the country through conversation as well as sightseeing.
Scenic Rail Journey to St. Moritz
Travel by train from Zurich via Chur to St. Moritz, watching the scenery shift from settled valleys to the higher landscapes of eastern Switzerland. This included journey makes the journey through the Alps part of the experience.
Arrive in St. Moritz, a resort long associated with winter sports and alpine holidays. Its mountain setting and clear Engadin light provide a striking introduction to the contrasts between Switzerland’s cities, valleys and high-altitude communities.
Lake St. Moritz
Take in Lake St. Moritz and the surrounding Engadin peaks in the heart of this celebrated alpine resort. The lakeside setting offers a quieter counterpoint to the town’s elegant hotels and sporting reputation.
St. Moritz helped establish winter tourism in the Alps, yet its appeal extends beyond the ski season. Mountain slopes, changing light and the lake’s broad shoreline make its natural setting as distinctive as its long-standing place in Swiss resort culture.
Glacier Express Alpine Rail Journey
Ride the Glacier Express from St. Moritz to Zermatt, with an included lunch on board. Watch alpine valleys, lakes and mountain scenery pass the windows as the train crosses hundreds of bridges on one of Switzerland’s best-known rail routes.
A defining moment is the crossing of the Oberalp Pass at 2,044 metres above sea level. The journey connects two renowned mountain resorts while revealing the scale and variety of the Swiss Alps. Travel on the Glacier Express is subject to availability.
Zermatt Orientation Walk
Explore Zermatt with your Travel Director on an orientation of this mountain resort at the foot of the Matterhorn. Get your bearings among its streets, shops and alpine surroundings while learning what makes the village a base for mountain travellers.
Zermatt’s setting is shaped by the Matterhorn’s distinctive pyramid profile, visible when weather permits. The orientation offers a grounded introduction to the resort and its climbing heritage without requiring a mountain excursion.
Geneva Orientation, Jet d’Eau & Flower Clock
Discover Geneva with your Travel Director on an orientation featuring the Jet d’Eau and Flower Clock. See two familiar symbols of the city beside Lake Geneva and get a feel for its lakefront setting.
The Jet d’Eau sends a plume of water high above the harbour, while the planted Flower Clock reflects Geneva’s association with watchmaking. Together, they offer a compact introduction to a city where Swiss craftsmanship and international life meet at the water’s edge.
Golden Pass Route & Interlaken Alpine Views
Journey along the Golden Pass route from Geneva towards central Switzerland, with time in Interlaken to take in the Bernese Oberland. The rail journey and mountain stop turn this crossing of the country into a scenic experience.
Interlaken sits between Lakes Thun and Brienz, with views towards the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau when conditions are clear. The route continues towards Lucerne via the Brunig Pass, revealing another shift in Switzerland’s lakes-and-mountains landscape.
Lucerne Orientation, Chapel Bridge & Lion Monument
Explore Lucerne with your Travel Director and see the Chapel Bridge, Old Town Hall and Lion Monument. The orientation introduces the city’s medieval streets and its setting beside Lake Lucerne.
The covered Chapel Bridge is a symbol of the city, while the Lion Monument commemorates Swiss Guards killed during the French Revolution. Together, these landmarks reveal different sides of Lucerne’s past: its trading-town heritage and the wider European history remembered in its public spaces.
Swiss Mountain Town Carriage Ride
Ride by carriage through a Swiss mountain town on an optional experience available during your time in the Lucerne region. The unhurried pace lets you take in the streets and mountain surroundings without a conventional walking tour.
Travelling by carriage offers a different perspective on the character of an alpine community, with time to notice its buildings and setting. The town and route depend on the excursion offered. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
