Day 3 unfolds on the eastern slopes above Kakopetria, where you’ll follow contouring trails through stands of Troodos black pine and golden oak. As the path gains height, the horizon opens to the northern flank of Mount Olympus (Chionistra) and the surrounding peaks that frame the Solea Valley.

Your route blends steady ascents with balcony-like traverses, perfect for pausing to breathe the resin-rich air and scan the ridgelines. Along the way, learn how this massif shaped village life, from timber and terracing to transhumance traditions. By mid-afternoon, the light softens over slate roofs below, an ideal time to pause for photos and reflection before descending to the village.

After a morning transfer on day 4, begin beside the crescent-shaped Evretou Reservoir and set out toward the Laona plateau. The path passes the ruins of an abandoned village, a medieval stone bridge, and the small Agia Paraskevi chapel before the cool spray of Kremiotis Waterfall filters through the pines.

As you climb toward breezy Droushia, you’ll cross old mule tracks once used by shepherds and traders. The shifting scenery—dam-lapped shores, orchard terraces, and wildflower banks—reveals the island’s layered past. Arrive in time to enjoy a free evening at your hotel or nearby tavernas, the plateau air carrying a hint of the sea from Chrysochous Bay.

On day 5, descend from the Laona plateau to the Lara coast, where pale sands and low dunes shelter nesting loggerhead and green turtles. An optional section lets you step into Avakas Gorge Nature Trail, where towering limestone walls and oleander frame the streambed like a natural nave.

Continue past South Lara and Toxeftra Beach, meeting fishermen and watching for shags along the rocks, before reaching Agios Georgios tis Pegeias with its small medieval church above the cove. A return transfer is included to your hotel—perfect for a swim and sunset supper after a day of wind-brushed headlands and wave-scored shore.

Day 6 traces the northern Akamas, beginning near the shaded grotto of the Baths of Aphrodite, where myrtle and fig leaves stir the air of myth. Follow sections of the Smigies, Adonis and Aphrodite Trails as the path rises to wide-open viewpoints.

From the headlands, gaze across Chrysochous Bay toward the Troodos and out to Cape Arnaoutis, the island’s northwestern tip. This is classic Cyprus: thyme underfoot, kestrels overhead, and misty mountain passes far inland. Longer walkers can extend the loop; others can linger by the grotto’s shaded pools before a relaxed evening by the sea.

On day 7, choose to enjoy a free day on the beach near your hotel or follow the eastern section of the Adonis Trail along the Akamas shore. The route threads past quiet coves and turquoise shallows toward the storied spring of Fontana Amorosa and the crystalline waters of the Blue Lagoon.

Expect juniper-scented breezes and a clear window into coastal geology—honeycombed limestone ledges and sea-worn platforms. With frequent places to pause for photos and reflection, this seaside day balances easy rhythms with grand horizons. Return along sandy tracks, the bay turning silver as the afternoon light fades toward Polis.

For a different perspective on the Akamas, board a local boat from Latchi and cruise the Blue Lagoon, gliding over glass-clear shallows where the seabed ripples in bands of aquamarine. Between capes and sea caves, the skipper points out cliffs, reefs and sheltered swims.

There’s time to swim in luminous waters and float beneath the headlands you walked earlier in the week, with masks provided on many boats. This experience pairs beautifully with your day 7 coastal walk or a free afternoon. Offered at additional cost and bookable on tour, subject to sea conditions.

From Droushia, travel a short distance to boutique cellars on the Laona–Kathikas plateau to sample regional wines shaped by limestone soils and sea breezes. Crisp Xynisteri and structured Maratheftiko anchor a guided tasting that explores indigenous grapes and modern Cypriot winemaking.

Round off with a village taverna spread—small plates that let you savour grilled halloumi, herbs and mountain honey, and slow-cooked stews. This relaxed evening deepens your sense of place between vineyard contours and star-swept skies. Offered at additional cost and bookable on tour; ideal on day 4 or 5 after your walk.

Add a focused cultural morning with a local specialist to step inside UNESCO-listed chapels such as Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis near Kakopetria or Panagia Podithou in Galata. See luminous fresco cycles up close and learn how mountain communities preserved sacred art through Ottoman times.

This gentle outing complements your day 2 valley walk, replacing or shortening part of the hike if you wish. Expect time to pause for photos and reflection and to discuss iconography and building techniques beneath timber roofs. Offered at additional cost and bookable on tour, with timings arranged locally.

On day 2, follow forest paths west of Kakopetria, tracing sparsely wooded slopes with views toward the Solea Valley and out to Morphou Bay. The trail passes a tranquil reservoir and the village of Galata before skirting UNESCO World Heritage painted churches, where Byzantine frescoes glow in half-light.

Pause near Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis and Galata’s Panagia Podithou to appreciate how these rural chapels safeguarded sacred art for centuries. Expect birdsong, resin-scented pines and moments to pause for photos and reflection as the valley widens below. Return to Kakopetria in time to enjoy a free afternoon among traditional coffee shops and shaded squares.

Arrive in stone-built Kakopetria and wander the cobbled lanes of Old Kakopetria, where timber balconies lean over the Karkotis stream and the scent of pine drifts down from the Troodos. On day 1, collect your notes and open your GPS navigation app to preview the week’s trails, waymarks and safety tips.

Use the evening to soak in the mountain air and get your bearings among small chapels and coffee houses in the village square. Your orientation sets the tone for a week of self-guided exploration, balancing independence with clear route guidance, so you can enjoy a free evening sampling local tavernas and planning tomorrow’s walk.
