Additional information
Garibaldi Fjord & Glacier Scenic Cruise
Discover Patagonia’s ice kingdom as you cruise the Garibaldi Fjord beneath granite walls, veils of waterfalls, and drifting bergy bits. The ship eases close to a towering ice wall, where deep-blue seracs groan and crack before thunderous calving ice plunges into the fjord.
Set within Alberto de Agostini National Park, this fjord shelters sea lions, cormorants, and soaring Andean condors. Bracing air, briny spray, and the glacier’s ethereal light combine for a rare, cinematic encounter with a living river of ice.
Ainsworth Bay Small-Boat Exploration
Explore by small expedition boats into tranquil Ainsworth Bay, a pristine inlet edged by Magellanic beech forest and kelp-fringed shores. Glide past rafts of seabirds and watch for resting elephant seals on pebbled beaches, all framed by cloud-brushed peaks.
Learn how the nearby Marinelli Glacier shapes the bay’s ecology as glacial meltwater feeds productive estuaries. Your guides interpret wildlife behavior and the resilient plants adapted to wind, rain, and the long Patagonian light.
Strait of Magellan & White Narrows Transit
Experience a storied seaway as you sail the Strait of Magellan, watching islands, headlands, and distant glaciers slip by from panoramic decks. Naturalists are on hand to spot seabirds, sea lions, and porpoising dolphins in the steel-blue water.
Hold your breath as the captain threads the White Narrows—a slack-tide passage barely 100 meters wide—between sheer rock walls. This is precision navigation and pure spectacle, revealing the geology and drama that define Chile’s maze of channels.
Chilean Fjords Scenic Cruising & Wildlife Watch
Settle on deck to scan the mirror-smooth channels, where the water shifts from aquamarine shallows to midnight depths. Expedition guides help you spot whales, dolphins and elephant seals against a backdrop of forested slopes and hanging glaciers.
As katabatic winds ripple the fjords and clouds part over misty mountain passes, your camera captures sculpted ice, silver waterfalls, and seabirds riding invisible currents. This is Patagonia writ large—raw, remote, and endlessly photogenic.
Puerto Edén Village Visit & Kawésqar Culture
Step ashore to visit Puerto Edén, a tiny settlement laced with wooden walkways on Wellington Island. Follow planked paths between mossy forest and fjord, pausing to meet members of the Kawésqar community and browse local handcrafts.
Hear stories of canoe-borne navigation, seasonal migrations, and language preservation that sustain this remote fjord village. The setting—rain-washed, green, and salt-scented—reflects a maritime culture shaped by tides, wind, and resilience.
Caleta Tortel Boardwalk Village
Wander the cypress boardwalks of Caleta Tortel, a charismatic village without streets where timber walkways trace the shoreline and climb the hillside. Admire river-fed hues where the Río Baker meets the sea, and encounter artisans crafting woodworks and woven goods.
Founded mid-20th century and long isolated, Tortel’s architecture and folk dance traditions echo its frontier spirit. The scent of wet wood and the sight of stilted homes tell a Patagonian story written in rain and river.
Castro Walking Tour & UNESCO Churches of Chiloé
Explore Castro’s waterfront to photograph its colourful palafitos—stilt houses mirrored in the tide—before you step inside the Church of San Francisco, a landmark in ochre and lavender hues crafted by island shipwrights.
Continue to the shingled masterpiece at Nercón to visit Nercón Church, part of the UNESCO-listed Chiloé Churches. Warm wood interiors, vaulted ceilings, and maritime carpentry reveal a living tradition where faith and seafaring skill intertwine.
Niebla Fort, Lighthouse & Coastal Market
Walk the ramparts to explore Castillo de Niebla, a cliff-top stronghold within the Valdivian Fort System that guarded Spanish routes in the 17th–19th centuries. View rusted cannon, read bilingual exhibits, and savor wide Pacific vistas.
Stroll the beach to the lighthouse for fresh sea air and photographs, then—if open—sample local flavors at the Feria Costumbrista. The fort’s headland and ocean-view lighthouse frame a day of history, shorelight, and simple coastal pleasures.
Onboard Science Center Talks
Deepen your understanding as you join engaging lectures led by the Expedition Team, spanning wildlife behavior, Indigenous lifeways, and tectonic forces that forged these channels. Between sessions, experiment at the hands-on Science Center with microscopes and field samples.
Expect interdisciplinary insights linking pre-Columbian history and Patagonian geology to today’s climate stories. Your Expedition Team distills complex science into vivid, place-based narratives that enrich every moment on deck and ashore.
Photography Workshops & Deck Practice
Sharpen your craft as you learn from the onboard photographer in concise sessions covering exposure, focusing on moving subjects, and storytelling through images. Practice composition to compose fjord landscapes and balance ice, cloud, and water.
Head outside to capture wildlife in motion—dives, wingbeats, and breaches—while working with golden Patagonian light. Whether you shoot on a phone or a telephoto rig, you’ll return with images that carry the chill, color, and scale of the south.
Torres del Paine Panoramic Tour

Guides unspool tales of early exploration, paleontology, and the region’s changing climate inside this towering limestone cavern, before emerging to wide Patagonian steppe views. This excursion is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Valparaíso Funiculars & Historic Hills
Cap your voyage in the “Jewel of the Pacific” as you ride historic funiculars to Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción. Meander past mansions, cafes, and murals, pausing for photos where street art panoramas tumble toward the harbor.
