FAQs
- Marrakesh: A modular trip means fellow travellers will join and leave at various locations. There’ll be some goodbyes, sure, but there’ll also be plenty of hellos with new like-minded travellers.
- Cape Town: The Cape, Safari & Falls trip ticks off all the major attractions in Southern Africa. This includes everything you’d want to see in a multi-country trip around Africa. We’ll visit the top attractions in Cape Town like Table Mountain, Cape Point, and even the penguins of Boulders Beach. Then we’ll go on plenty of game drives in top wildlife destinations such as Kruger and Chobe. And to satisfy our adventure-hungry souls, this trip includes a variety of activities. Does it get better than this? We sure don’t think so.
- Cape Town: It’ll change slightly depending on what time of year you’re visiting, but some essentials will include:
Your camera

Your swimming costume?& towel
Sun cream, a hat, sunglasses
Insect repellent
A portable phone charger
Binoculars (crucial for game drives to see animals in the distance)

Torch/Headlight
Reusable water bottleRead our full guide to visiting Africa here.
- Cape Town: No matter what time of year you choose to visit, you’re guaranteed to have an incredible trip. Traditionally, the best time to go on safari in Africa is over the non-summer months – March to October. The vegetation is not as dense and wildlife come to waterholes to drink during the dry winter months. But the best time to visit Cape Town is in the summer! So you could say that it’s an all-year trip that’s great for both wildlife and adventure lovers.
- Cape Town: Pretty darn good. The Cape, Safari & Falls trip has multiple game drives on offer (some of which are included)! These will be in the ‘Big 5’ mega Game Reserves of Kruger and Chobe (both are the size of a small country). On top of that, we’ll go on a walking safari close to the Victoria Falls. But it doesn’t end there. A riverside boat cruise or two in the National Park will give us direct views to spot hippos, crocs and other wildlife coming down to drink. Will you get your wildlife fix? We definitely think so.
- Cape Town: The question should be – what transport don’t we use on this trip? Coaches in Cape Town, safari trucks in Kruger, minivans for airport transfers, open-top safari jeeps, flights to and from Johannesburg with the chance to enjoy boat and helicopter rides.
- Cape Town: Only the most visited tourist attraction in the whole of Africa! That’s right. In Cape Town, we’ll stay at the legendary V&A Waterfront. You’ll have access to a myriad of shops, bars, food markets, attractions and restaurants (all within 500m of our hotel). In Kruger and Chobe, we’re doing something special. We won’t stay outside the park (where all the hotels are located). Instead, we’ll spend our nights in the park, LITERALLY glamping under the stars, around a fire. If you’re lucky, you might even hear the rush of the river with hippos calling, lions roaring and hyenas whooping all around us. Now that’s a true African wildlife experience. In Victoria Falls, we’ll either stay on the Zambezi River in Zambia or within Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe. Both are within view of the spray from the falls (plus the wildlife that roam freely through the towns).
- Chobe National Park: As the name suggests, a Special Stay ain’t your ordinary accommodation – it’s much more than that. Think of it as an experience in its own right. On this trip, you’ll be able to camp under the stars (all while being surrounded by wildlife) at your Special Stay.
- Amboseli: Nope, you’re all good! All equipment (tents, sleeping bags, etc) will be provided for you.
- Amboseli: You don’t have to. Your road crew will set up camp, cook meals, and clean up afterwards – but you’re always welcome to help!
- Amboseli: You’ll have access to proper bathrooms with real toilets, hot showers and everything you need – just shared with the crew.

Cape Town Township Tour & Amy Foundation Lunch
Join a locally guided township tour for insight into Cape Town communities and the continuing legacy of apartheid. The experience includes an Amy Foundation lunch, bringing a community-focused dimension to the visit.
Hearing local perspectives adds context that a city sightseeing tour alone cannot provide. This is an optional experience at additional cost, bookable on tour; approach it as an opportunity to listen and learn about everyday life rather than as a sightseeing stop.
Zambezi White-Water Rafting
Raft the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls for an active encounter with the waterway that feeds the falls. Navigate stretches of fast-moving water with a rafting operator while the gorge walls rise around the river.
Water levels change markedly through the year, affecting which rafting routes can operate and what the experience is like. This is an optional activity at additional cost, bookable on tour, subject to river conditions and operator requirements.
Chobe River Wildlife Cruise
Cruise the Chobe River in search of hippos in the water, crocodiles on the banks and animals coming down to drink. A boat offers a low, unhurried viewpoint that differs from the tour’s included land-based game drives.
As evening approaches, changing light can bring out the shape of the floodplain and its visiting herds. This wildlife cruise is an optional experience at additional cost, bookable on tour; animal sightings remain unpredictable.
V&A Waterfront Welcome Walk & Dinner
Meet your Trip Manager and fellow travellers over a walkabout dinner near Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. Stroll through the working harbour precinct, where restaurants, historic buildings and views of Table Mountain give the group a lively place to get acquainted.
Named for Queen Victoria and Prince Alfred, the waterfront remains part of an active port rather than a purpose-built resort. The shared outing brings Cape Town’s maritime character into your first evening together.
Table Mountain Cable Car
Ride the cable car up Table Mountain for sweeping views across Cape Town, Table Bay and the Atlantic coastline. At the summit, take in the city’s distinctive setting between sea and mountain, with walking paths offering different vantage points when conditions allow.
The mountain’s flat-topped silhouette has long served as a landmark for ships approaching the Cape. Its upper slopes also support fynbos, the plant life characteristic of the Cape Floristic Region, adding natural detail to the panorama.
Cape Town City Sights Tour
Explore Cape Town’s key sights on a city tour taking in Bo-Kaap, the city centre and the V&A Waterfront. See how colourful residential streets, civic buildings and the working harbour express different sides of South Africa’s Mother City.
Bo-Kaap is closely associated with Cape Muslim heritage, while the city centre reflects centuries of colonial rule and later political change. The tour offers a useful introduction to Cape Town’s layered history as well as its mountain-framed streetscape.
Kruger National Park Game Drives
Search for wildlife in Kruger National Park on included drives through its savannah, riverine woodland and open grassland. Keep binoculars ready for elephants, giraffes and antelope, along with the possibility of seeing the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and buffalo.
Kruger is one of Africa’s best-known protected areas, but sightings depend on the animals’ movements. Its varied habitats make each drive different, whether wildlife is crossing a track or gathering near a water source.
Lower Sabie Safari Camp Experience
Stay inside Kruger National Park at the trip’s safari camp in Lower Sabie, where canvas tents provide a closer-to-nature alternative to a conventional hotel. Gather around the communal firepit under the stars and listen for the sounds of nocturnal wildlife.
The camp’s setting beside the Sabie River offers opportunities to watch for animals approaching the water. Tents are equipped with mattresses and linen, so the experience centres on the atmosphere of a night in the park rather than setting up camp yourself.
Kruger K9 Wildlife Protection Encounter
Meet a Kruger ranger and learn how the K9 Watchdog Project uses trained dogs to help protect wildlife from poaching. Hear about the practical work behind conservation in a reserve known for its rhinos and other threatened species.
This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experience connects the excitement of spotting animals with the people working to safeguard them. It offers a perspective on the challenges facing Kruger’s wildlife and the role conservation support can play.
Victoria Falls Walking Visit
Walk beside Victoria Falls and feel the spray rising from the Zambezi as it plunges into the gorge. Viewpoints along the falls reveal the scale of the curtain of water, though visibility and how wet you get vary with the season.
The falls are known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, “the smoke that thunders”—a name that captures both their sound and the plume of mist above them. Walking the edge brings you close to one of Southern Africa’s defining landscapes.
Chobe Riverbank & Morning Game Drives
Look for wildlife in Chobe National Park on included safari drives, including a morning outing as the bush comes to life. Watch the riverbank for animals approaching the water and the surrounding landscape for Chobe’s notably large elephant population.
The Chobe River sustains hippos, crocodiles and a wide variety of birds as well as visiting herds. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but the contrast between waterways and dry bush makes this a distinct safari setting. Sunset and sunrise drives are included when the seasonal lodge arrangement replaces bush camping.
Chobe Bush Camp Experience
Spend a night at a private bush camp near Chobe, with guides, cooks and a fire set beneath the African sky. Pre-set dome tents provide beds, mattresses and linen, leaving you free to take in the sounds of the surrounding wilderness.
Calls from jackals, hyenas or other nocturnal animals may carry through the darkness, although wildlife remains unpredictable. Bush camping is seasonal; when it is unavailable, the tour uses lodge accommodation instead, with Chobe sunset and sunrise game drives included.
Cape Town Cooking Class
Take part in a MasterChef-style cooking class in Cape Town, preparing food with fellow travellers while music and drinks add to the evening’s social atmosphere. It is a hands-on alternative to choosing a restaurant for dinner.
The shared preparation gives everyone a role and a reason to gather around the table. This is an optional experience at additional cost, bookable on tour; the specific dishes and cooking format may vary.
Cape Peninsula Drive & Boulders Beach Penguins
Travel the Cape Peninsula on a scenic outing featuring the cliffs of Chapman’s Peak Drive, Cape Point and a stop at Boulders Beach to see its African penguin colony. Coastal viewpoints show where mountains descend towards the Atlantic and False Bay.
Boulders Beach is part of Table Mountain National Park and offers a rare chance to observe penguins near an urban coastline. This excursion is optional, at additional cost and bookable on tour; route and viewing opportunities may depend on local conditions.
Kayaking Near Boulders Beach
Kayak in the coastal waters near Boulders Beach for a different view of the granite-fringed shore and the area known for its African penguin colony. Paddling at water level makes the Cape Peninsula’s sheltered coves and rocky coastline the focus.
Penguins are wild animals, so close encounters cannot be promised and their space should be respected. This is an optional activity at additional cost, bookable on tour, with participation dependent on suitable conditions.
Cape Wine Tasting
Taste South African wines against the scenic backdrop of the Cape. Compare the character of local pours while taking in a landscape whose vineyards have shaped the region’s food and wine culture for generations.
Wine production around Cape Town dates to the seventeenth century, and the wider Cape Winelands are associated with varieties such as Chenin Blanc and Pinotage. This tasting is an optional experience at additional cost, bookable on tour; the venue and selection may vary.
Kruger Sunrise or Sunset Safari
Add a sunrise or sunset game drive in Kruger National Park for more time searching for wildlife beyond the included drives. Cooler hours can bring changing animal activity, from birds becoming vocal at first light to predators moving around dusk.
Every drive is shaped by chance, and a different hour can reveal a different side of the same habitat. Sunrise and sunset safaris are optional experiences at additional cost, bookable on tour; sightings, including those of predators, are not guaranteed.
Traditional South African Braai
Gather for a traditional South African braai at the Kruger camp, with barbecued food, local sides and desserts shared around the table. The meal offers a sociable way to settle into the camp’s open-air setting.
A braai is more than a cooking method in South Africa: it is a familiar occasion for conversation around the fire. This hosted dinner is an optional experience at additional cost, bookable on tour.
Victoria Falls Bridge Adventure Activities
Choose a bridge-based adventure above the Zambezi gorge, with options described on the tour including a jump, zipline or swing. The Victoria Falls Bridge links Zimbabwe and Zambia, placing its activities high above the river’s dramatic ravine.
Completed in the early twentieth century, the bridge is a striking viewpoint as well as a crossing. These activities are optional, at additional cost and bookable on tour; choices, availability and participation requirements should be confirmed locally.
Locally Guided Village Visit
Join a locally guided village tour near Victoria Falls to meet residents and hear about daily life from people who live in the area. The visit offers a human perspective alongside the region’s waterfalls and wildlife.
Local guidance creates space for questions about community routines and traditions without treating the village as a staged attraction. This is an optional experience at additional cost, bookable on tour; the places visited and conversations will depend on the local hosts.
Zambezi Sunset Cruise
Cruise the Zambezi at sunset near Victoria Falls, with drinks included in the outing. Watch the evening light settle over the river while keeping an eye on the banks and water for wildlife.
The Zambezi supports a rich river habitat, and the unhurried pace offers a contrast to the force of the falls nearby. This cruise is an optional experience at additional cost, bookable on tour; wildlife sightings and sunset conditions vary.
Zambezi National Park Walking Safari
Explore Zambezi National Park on foot with a guide, looking for animal tracks, smaller creatures and plants that can be easy to miss from a vehicle. Walking brings the sounds and textures of the bush into sharper focus.
The park lies along the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls, where riverine and woodland habitats support diverse wildlife. This guided walking safari is optional, at additional cost and bookable on tour; sightings and the route depend on conditions.
Victoria Falls Helicopter Flight
Fly above Victoria Falls by helicopter to see the waterfall, its spray and the Zambezi gorge from the air. The aerial perspective reveals the breadth of the falls and the river’s course through the surrounding landscape.
Water volume and visibility change with the seasons, giving each flight a different view of “the smoke that thunders”. This is an optional experience at additional cost, bookable on tour, subject to flight availability and suitable conditions.
