Iconic Experience
- Lake Louise: Walk the shoreline of Lake Louise learning about its turquoise waters while taking in the Victoria Glacier and scenic mountain backdrop.
- Icefields Parkway: Unlock the Canadian Rockies’ pristine wilderness on one of the most scenic drives in North America – the Icefield Parkway. This stretch of double-lane highway from Jasper to Lake Louise winds along the Continental Divide through rocky mountain peaks, rock spires, waterfalls, icefields, valleys and more than 100 ancient glaciers. Snap a pic at a viewpoint to capture the beauty.
- Athabasca Glacier: A picturesque waterfall awaits at Athabasca Falls. At only 75 feet tall, the rushing Athabasca River tumbles over a wide ledge into a tight canyon – making Athabasca Falls one of the most powerful waterfalls in the Canadian Rockies. Learn how the river and falls are fed with water from the Columbia Icefield glaciers, snowmelt from surrounding mountains and rainwater as you admire these small but mighty waters.
- Maligne Lake: See how Maligne Lake is in a league of its own on a scenic cruise. Discover world-famous Spirit Island and get great photo opportunities with beautiful views of the mountains, its three glaciers and Spirit Island – significant to the Indigenous Stoney Nation. Learn about the geology, wildlife and history of this spectacular alpine destination and how, because visitors cannot walk on the island, it remains an enclave of evergreens. And since you can only see Spirit Island from a cruise, you’ll love being one of the few who get to see it.
- Columbia Icefield: Gear up for a Columbia Icefield Adventure. Board a massive, specially designed ‘Ice Explorer’ to view one of the largest non-polar ice fields in the world, the Athabasca Glacier. Stop at the best spot to walk on, feel and drink from the Glacier. What better way to appreciate this natural wonder? You’ll even enhance your visit learning about the Columbia Icefield, how the glacier has changed and the thrill of driving up the moraine deposits to reach the glacier.
- Banff National Park of Canada: View one of the largest lakes in Banff National Park, Bow Lake. As one of the many lakes that line the Icefields Parkway, this is a beautiful and scenic stop with dazzling glacial waters.
- Canmore: Lace up those skates, hit the ice and learn about being a real hockey player.
- Banff: Uncover how Banff is in a league of its own. Stroll through the downtown lined with historic buildings as majestic mountains stand tall in the distance. This is your chance to visit the iconic sites and the local spots on a guided tour around town. Stop at Bow Falls for great sightseeing opportunities of the river and the falls. At Surprise Corner, named for its spectacular, surprising views from Buffalo Street, capture a photo of another unique vantage point.
How You'll Travel

- Selected hotel dinners plus a locally hosted meal
- 4-star stays
Banff Gondola to Sulphur Mountain
Ride the Banff Gondola up Sulphur Mountain for elevated views over Banff and the surrounding Canadian Rockies. From the summit area, look across a panorama of six mountain ranges and see the town set within the Bow Valley.
The gondola offers access to a high mountain viewpoint without a long ascent on foot. Take in the sweeping summit panorama and compare it with the peaks and valleys seen from below. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Yoho National Park & Moraine Lake Excursion
Join your Travel Director on an optional excursion to explore Yoho National Park and, when seasonal access permits, Moraine Lake in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. The outing brings together two celebrated Rocky Mountain settings beyond Banff.
Yoho’s name comes from a Cree expression of awe, while Moraine Lake is known for its glacially coloured water beneath a striking wall of peaks. This seasonal optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Columbia Icefield Adventure on the Athabasca Glacier
Ride an all-terrain Ice Explorer onto the Athabasca Glacier, part of the vast Columbia Icefield. An experienced driver-guide explains the icefield and the changing glacier before you have the chance to step onto the ice, take in the snowcapped panorama and taste cold glacier water.
The specially designed vehicle makes it possible to travel across terrain normally inaccessible to a coach. Feel the glacier beneath your feet and gain a closer understanding of the ice that feeds rivers flowing through the Rockies.
Calgary Welcome Dinner
Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over a welcome dinner in Calgary. It is a chance to get acquainted and hear about the landscapes and experiences that shape this journey through the Canadian Rockies.
Calgary’s connection to ranching and the Calgary Stampede has earned it a place at the heart of Canada’s Cowboy Country. Share your first evening together in a city where western heritage meets a contemporary urban food scene.
Lake Louise Shoreline Visit
Walk the shoreline of Lake Louise and take in its turquoise water, the surrounding peaks and the Victoria Glacier beyond the far end of the lake. There is time to explore the lakeside and appreciate one of Banff National Park’s most recognisable settings.
Fine glacial sediment suspended in the water gives the lake its striking colour in warmer months. The mountain backdrop makes even a short shoreline walk an opportunity to see how glaciers have shaped the Canadian Rockies.
Icefields Parkway Scenic Drive & Viewpoints
Travel the Icefields Parkway through a landscape of mountain peaks, glacial lakes and ancient icefields. Scenic stops include Big Bend Viewpoint, Sunwapta Falls and Bow Lake, with opportunities to photograph the changing terrain and watch for wildlife along the route.
This mountain road links the Lake Louise and Jasper areas, crossing terrain shaped by ice and water over thousands of years. Its viewpoints bring you close to the scale of the Rockies, from wide valleys to waterfalls cutting through rock.
Athabasca Falls Visit
Visit Athabasca Falls in Jasper National Park and watch the Athabasca River surge over a broad rock ledge into a narrow canyon. Viewing areas reveal the force of the water as it churns through the gorge.
The falls are notable less for their height than for their power. Fed in part by meltwater from the Columbia Icefield, the river has worn channels into the surrounding stone, offering a close look at the processes that continue to shape this mountain landscape.
Jasper Be My Guest Lunch & Local Stories
Join a hosted lunch at Maligne Lake Chalet and hear stories of Jasper from Pieter van Loon or Joost Tijssen of Jasper Theater Productions. Their lively account shares local facts, lesser-known details and the perspectives of people who have made this mountain town their home.
Both hosts trained in theatre and drama teaching before falling for Jasper on a visit to the Canadian Rockies. Discover the town through local storytelling, with the lake and national park providing the setting for this Be My Guest experience.
Maligne Lake Cruise to Spirit Island
Cruise across Maligne Lake through a mountain-framed valley toward Spirit Island, with views of three glaciers and opportunities to photograph the alpine scenery. A guide shares insight into the lake’s geology, wildlife and history along the way.
Spirit Island holds significance for the Indigenous Stoney Nation. Visitors view its small stand of evergreens from the shore rather than walking onto the island; depending on water levels, the narrow strip connecting it to the mainland may disappear. This cruise operates seasonally.
Canadian Hockey Experience in Canmore
Learn to play hockey with a professional coach in Canmore. Visit the players’ dressing room, put on full hockey gear with a coach’s help and head onto the ice to handle a stick, discover your shooting side and practise scoring.
Hear about players’ routines, secrets and superstitions while getting a hands-on introduction to a sport deeply woven into Canadian life. Trying the game on the ice makes this more than a spectator’s look at hockey.
Banff Town Tour, Bow Falls & Surprise Corner
Explore Banff on a guided town tour, taking in its historic downtown streets against a backdrop of Rocky Mountain peaks. Stop at Bow Falls to see the river tumble over its broad cascade, and visit Surprise Corner for a viewpoint overlooking the town’s mountain setting.
Banff grew from a mountain settlement into a national-park destination. The tour connects its local streets and landmarks with the scenery that draws visitors here, while both stops offer distinct perspectives for photographs.
Cree-Guided Buffalo Stories & Tea
Sip tea and listen to a Cree guide in Banff National Park as they share stories about buffalo and their importance to Indigenous survival. Hear how the relationship between people and buffalo carries teachings about connection and responsibility.
This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experience invites you to consider the animal through your guide’s cultural perspective, beyond its place in the landscape. Explore the teachings of the buffalo and the sacred contract your guide describes through personal storytelling.
Jasper Float Trip
Join an optional float trip in Jasper for a different perspective on the national park’s riverside scenery. From the water, take in the mountain surroundings at a gentler pace than a road journey allows.
Jasper National Park protects a broad network of rivers and valleys within the Canadian Rockies. This organised river outing offers time to appreciate that landscape from close range. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Canadian Rockies Helicopter Flight
Take an optional helicopter flight over the Canadian Rockies for an aerial view of the mountain landscape around the Banff and Canmore region. See how ridgelines, valleys and peaks fit together from a vantage point unavailable on the ground.
The flight offers a different sense of the Rockies’ scale, with broad panoramas that contrast with the close-up views from trails and viewpoints. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
