Additional information

Ride the Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain for a panoramic boardwalk and exhibits at the interpretive centre. From the ridge, trace six mountain ranges, the Bow Valley and the townsite nestled among dark spruce.

Pause on the summit deck for photos in alpine light and stroll toward Sanson’s Peak weather station. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Join a guided tour of Banff to see the Bow River tumbling over Bow Falls and the famed vantage at Surprise Corner, where the castle-like Fairmont Banff Springs dominates a bend in the valley.

Hear how a railway hot springs discovery in 1883 led to the creation of Banff National Park in 1885. Timbered storefronts, mountain panoramas and heritage hotels reveal a frontier town polished by a century of alpine culture.

Board the Rocky Mountaineer in GoldLeaf glass-dome service and settle into bi-level coaches with floor-to-ceiling views and an open-air platform. Glide by emerald rivers, cedar forests and high peaks while hosts share frontier lore during two daylight-only days between the Rockies and the Pacific.

Trace Kicking Horse Canyon and the Spiral Tunnels, skim Shuswap Lake, and follow the Thompson and Fraser canyons to the churning Hell’s Gate. Chef-prepared breakfasts and lunches elevate the journey as scenery unfolds uninterrupted by night travel.

Board a massive Ice Explorer and roll onto the Athabasca Glacier, stepping out onto ancient ice framed by serrated peaks. Feel the crisp alpine air and, if conditions allow, taste fresh glacier meltwater as you stand amid a landscape sculpted over millennia.

Hear about the Columbia Icefield—one of the largest outside the poles—and how it feeds three great river systems. Your expert driver-guide explains glacial retreat, crevasses and moraines, turning spectacular scenery into a living classroom.

Cruise the mirror-calm waters of Maligne Lake to Spirit Island, gliding between knife-edge peaks and hanging glaciers. Watch the water shift from deep sapphire to jade in the changing light as your captain steers toward the lake’s most photogenic cove.

Learn why Spirit Island holds meaning for the Stoney Nakoda and why access is by boat only, preserving its hush. Seasonal sailings reveal three surrounding glaciers and superb photography angles without trails or crowds underfoot.

Enjoy a hosted lakeside lunch at Maligne Lake Chalet as you meet the storytellers of Jasper Theater Productions. Between courses, your hosts weave lively tales of mountaineers, railway surveyors and wildlife encounters that shaped this valley.

This Be My Guest experience blends local flavor with performance, offering context for the places you’ll see around Jasper National Park. Expect humor, insider tips and a warm introduction to the culture of this alpine community.

Journey the legendary Icefields Parkway, a ribbon of tarmac between glaciers and turquoise lakes. Pause for photos and reflection at Big Bend Viewpoint and feel the spray at Sunwapta Falls as the river plunges through a narrow limestone gorge.

Continue to the thunder of Athabasca Falls, small in height yet immense in power as it carves a tight canyon. Keep an eye out for elk, bear and mountain goats while vistas of Bow Lake, serrated peaks and hanging icefields unfold.

Walk the shoreline of Lake Louise, tracing a forested path beside water the color of polished jade. Framed by the Victoria Glacier and amphitheater-like peaks, this gentle stroll is ideal for photography and quiet moments by the lapping shore.

Gain insight into near-extinction and recovery efforts, traditional uses and ceremony, and how visitors can support stewardship today. This reflective encounter deepens your Rockies journey with Indigenous perspectives and living culture.

Drift the Athabasca River on a guided float, skimming past gravel bars and spruce forests while scanning for elk, eagles and osprey. Stable rafts and gentle current make this a relaxing way to see Jasper’s backcountry from the waterline.

Guides interpret geology, Indigenous history and wildlife behavior as canyon walls rise and soften. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Lift off on a helicopter flightseeing tour for a bird’s-eye sweep of serrated summits, emerald lakes and braided rivers. The pilot arcs along cliff faces and over ice-scoured cirques revealing terrain unreachable by road or trail.

Noise-cancelling headsets deliver narration as the Rockies’ scale snaps into focus from above. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Explore Yoho National Park with stops that may include Emerald Lake and the Natural Bridge before entering the Valley of the Ten Peaks for Moraine Lake’s iconic view. Glacier-fed color and sawtooth ridgelines make every turn camera-worthy.
