Chichester Cathedral City Highlights
Explore a compact, walkable city where Roman planning meets Georgian elegance. Seek out Chichester Cathedral with its soaring spire, pause by the medieval Market Cross, and follow stretches of the Roman city walls. Independent shops, cafés, and historic lanes create an easy rhythm for browsing and people-watching in the heart of West Sussex.
Trace a story from Noviomagus Reginorum to a modern cultural hub, with sacred art inside the cathedral including a Marc Chagall stained-glass window. Quiet gardens and timber-framed corners reward curiosity, while market bustle adds local colour to this time-layered English city.
Arundel Castle & Bognor Regis Seaside
Experience a pairing of heritage and coast. In Arundel, the mighty Arundel Castle commands the skyline above the River Arun, anchoring streets lined with antique shops, galleries, and inviting tearooms. The town’s Victorian cathedral and riverside views complete a picture-book setting rich in English character.
The classic British seaside mood of the Bognor Regis promenade adds arcades, a broad beach, and salty breezes to the mix. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour, delivering a relaxed blend of historic charm and coastal nostalgia without the need to plan independently.
South Downs National Park Scenic Drive
Trace rolling chalk hills and open sky on a scenic drive through South Downs National Park. Pass flint-built villages and beech hangers, then take in coastal viewpoints where the white ramparts of the Seven Sisters cliffs meet the Channel. Along the ridgelines, the ancient South Downs Way carves a graceful path across fields and hedge-bound lanes.
Hear about chalk grassland alive with skylark song, orchids, and Adonis blue butterflies, and the legacy of prehistoric hill forts dotting the high ground. Unhurried pauses let you pause for photos and reflection as sea air and far-reaching panoramas define this quietly dramatic landscape.
Royal Pavilion Palace Visit, Brighton
Discover Brighton’s most flamboyant landmark as you step inside the Royal Pavilion, the seaside retreat of King George IV. Wander through the opulent Banqueting Room and glittering Music Room, where gilded dragons coil around chandeliers and chinoiserie décor dazzles under soft light. Outside, stroll the Regency gardens, a romantic frame of serpentine paths and seasonal planting close to the seafront.
Uncover how a fashionable Regency resort became a stage for royal spectacle, with domes and minarets inspired by India and interiors echoing China. The Pavilion’s later life as a WWI hospital for Indian soldiers adds a poignant chapter to this palace of pleasure and pageantry.
