1. Standard entrance fees to the National Parks visited on this trip are included in your trip price. From January 2026 onward, the US National Park Service is introducing an additional ‘US Non-Resident Fee’ to enter National Parks included in this trip. This fee is applicable to passengers who are not US residents and separate to the entrance fees included in your tour. These fees range from USD 100 to USD 250 per person. These fees need to be paid locally (USD cash) and are in addition to your trip payment. On Day 1, your CEO will facilitate the processing of these fees for all travelers who are impacted.

3. Please note that this tour combines with other G Adventures tours. As such, the staff and some travel companions on your tour may continue after this tour ends.

4. In order to cover the vast distance in North America to be able to visit several different parks and cities along our trip, we will have a couple of long driving days.

5. All walks and hikes proposed in this itinerary are moderate to strenuous level. You may choose to participate or not, but exploring our national parks on foot is part of our way of travelling. It’s a healthy way to discover North America’s beauty and landscape.

6. The American West is generally known for warm weather, but temperatures do vary significantly in the mountain and desert areas especially. The day time temperature could exceed 30 C, while the night time temperatures do regularly decrease to single digits, or even possible below freezing. Please be prepared for such extreme conditions.

7. Please note that the legal drinking age in the United States is 21. Many bars and clubs will ask for ID at the door, therefore listening to live music in certain bars or spending a night out in Las Vegas is not possible when you are under the legal age, even if you don’t plan on consuming alcohol. Drinking laws are strictly enforced and our CEOs are unable to help those under age obtain alcohol of any kind.

While this should not stop those under legal drinking age from booking a tour, it is important to note that if a traveller is under-age there are certain optional nighttime activities that they may not legally be able to participate in. When trying to book the right trip, we recommend that travellers under legal drinking age take this into consideration when booking a tour that visits several big cities.

8. ACCOMMODATION NOTE: Please be aware that properties we stay in with only two stories may not have elevators installed and climbing the stairs with your luggage will be necessary.

1 CEO (Chief Experience Officer) throughout.

This trip uses 2-3 star hotels and motels in cities and near park entrances. Our chosen hotels vary in size, character, and amenities, but are of a good standard, and the rooms are double occupancy with a private bathroom.

You will be on the move a lot, so our advice is to pack as lightly as possible.

For days in the outdoors, we recommend the use of lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics made of wool or synthetic fibers. Cotton is not recommended for days spent hiking as it does not allow for heat or moisture to enter or escape, and it will not dry easily once wet.

We recommend using a backpack for your convenience, or a medium-sized suitcase if you prefer. Heavy luggage is not recommended for the health of the CEO, who will take a lead in loading the storage trailer. Due to space in the trailer, we will not be able to accommodate more than one piece of main luggage per person. A good size day-pack (20-35L) is also essential to carry your personal gear for the day, as access to luggage between destinations will be limited. This daypack will be used to carry your personal gear for the day, your lunch and a water bottle. Your CEO recommends a hydration pack style water bottle.

The American west is generally known for warm weather, but temperatures do vary significantly in the mountain and desert areas especially. The day time temperature could exceed 30 C, while the night time temperatures do regularly decrease to single digits, or even possible below freezing. It is therefore important to pack clothes for warm days and cool evenings – a light jacket is necessary.

Seasonal temperature ranges:

March – May ; September to December: -7 C to +30 C

June – August: 0 C to + 35 C

Additionally, a set of smart casual clothes is also advisable.

Every traveller is different and therefore spending money requirements will vary. Some travellers may drink more than others while other travellers like to purchase more souvenirs than most. Please consider your own spending habits when it comes to allowing for drinks, shopping and tipping. Please also remember the following specific recommendations when planning your trip.

Wade into The Narrows, Zion’s signature slot where the Virgin River is the trail. Follow the canyon upstream between Navajo Sandstone walls that glow honey and rose, feeling cool water around your calves and mist lifting off shadowed bends.

Experience a slot canyon carved over millennia, framed by hanging gardens and sheer walls rising nearly 1,000 feet. Your CEO helps you gauge conditions and turnaround points so you can savor sculpted corridors and echoing quiet at your own pace.

Walk a gentle sandy path to the lookout above Horseshoe Bend, where the Colorado River sweeps in a perfect curve 300 meters below. Step to designated viewpoints atop steep sandstone cliffs for a panorama of emerald water against rust-red canyon walls.

Learn how an entrenched meander carved through Navajo Sandstone to form this photogenic bend, and pause for photos and reflection. It’s a short outing with huge visual payoff, especially under high desert skies near Page, Arizona.

Explore the Bryce Amphitheater on foot, tracing the rim or dropping among a fairy-tale forest of hoodoos. Trails like the Queen’s Garden and Navajo Loop reveal crimson spires, fragrant ponderosa pines, and viewpoints where the plateau falls away in dramatic amphitheaters.

Witness golden-hour color at Sunset or Inspiration Point, then linger beneath an International Dark Sky Park. With minimal light pollution, constellations sharpen and the Milky Way often arches overhead—an elemental close to a day of sculpted stone and high-plateau air.

Join a sunrise Navajo guided jeep tour across the red-earth backroads of Monument Valley. Watch silhouettes sharpen as first light paints mesas and spires, with stops at famed viewpoints including The Mittens and Merrick Butte.

Hear stories of Diné culture and the land’s spiritual resonance while tracing tracks through sand dunes and hidden arches. Cinematic vistas and sunrise over the mesas combine cultural insight with arresting desert scenery.

Savour sunset along the rim at the Grand Canyon South Rim, where late light flows across soaring cliffs and buttes. From classic overlooks such as Mather or Yavapai, watch shadows lengthen and colors shift from copper to violet.

Absorb the canyon’s vast scale as the sun drops behind the Coconino Plateau. The shifting light reveals terraces, temples, and distant side canyons—a contemplative finale to a day amid one of Earth’s great erosional landscapes.

Set out on a full-day hike from the South Rim, choosing the iconic Bright Angel or South Kaibab Trail. Descend through echoing switchbacks toward Ooh Aah Point or Cedar Ridge, feeling the air warm and views expand with every turn.

Trace the canyon’s layer-cake geology from pale Kaibab Limestone toward deeper reds, with condors sometimes wheeling overhead. Your CEO suggests routes and rest points so you can match ambition to ability and return with time to savor the rim.

Relish a slice of Americana as you drive historic Route 66 from the high country toward Las Vegas. Pass vintage motor courts, classic neon signs, and weathered billboards that recall the open-road era.

Rolling desert and railroad towns—often including waypoints like Seligman and Kingman—frame stories of migrants, motorists, and roadside entrepreneurs. It’s a breezy cultural interlude of roadside Americana that adds texture to the parks-focused journey.

Join a local Navajo guide for a walk through Antelope Canyon—a slender corridor of sculpted sandstone walls where light beams slant through overhead openings. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

Hear how flash floods carved sinuous curves into Navajo Sandstone and learn respectful visit practices on tribal land. Midday often delivers beams of light that illuminate swirling textures—an unforgettable setting for careful photography and quiet awe.

Lift off for a helicopter flightseeing adventure over the Grand Canyon, tracing the Colorado River and forested rims from a bird’s-eye perspective. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.

The aerial vantage showcases buttes, side canyons, and ancient rock layers in a single sweeping view. Expect vast panoramas and a visceral sense of scale that complements your time on the trails.

Connect with your travel companions in Las Vegas and meet your CEO and group for a relaxed briefing that sets the tone for the journey. Break the ice, review the plan, and handle essentials so you can hit the road with confidence for a week in the canyonlands.

Gain insights into our small-group style and the natural highlights of Zion, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. Expect practical tips on desert conditions and trail etiquette so you start strong, typically early in the tour.
