This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experience connects the city’s heritage with present-day issues, including food insecurity. Your visit supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of Reduced Inequalities.
Swiss Welcome Dinner
Join a welcome dinner in Zurich to meet your fellow travellers and begin sharing the anticipation of a journey through Switzerland. This organised gathering offers a relaxed setting for conversation over an included evening meal.
Zurich brings together an old town shaped by centuries of trade and a contemporary, cosmopolitan outlook. The dinner is a chance to connect with your travel companions before exploring the country’s lakes, mountain towns and regional traditions.
Bern’s Aare River Views
Pause to admire Bern from the Aare River, where the city’s stone buildings rise above the curve of the water. The riverside perspective brings the Swiss capital’s compact historic centre and its setting into focus.
Bern’s Old City is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its arcaded streets and remarkably preserved medieval layout. Viewing it from the river offers a sense of how the Aare has long defined the city’s landscape and character.
Chillon Castle
Visit Chillon Castle, a medieval fortress occupying a rocky islet on Lake Geneva. Explore the rooms and dungeons of a stronghold that guarded an important route through the Alps and served for centuries as a residence of the Counts of Savoy.
The castle gained literary fame through Lord Byron’s The Prisoner of Chillon, inspired by his 1816 visit. Look for the name he carved into a dungeon pillar amid the fortress’s stone vaults.
Lavaux Vineyard Be My Guest Lunch
Meet a vineyard owner in Bourg-en-Lavaux for a hosted Swiss lunch overlooking Lake Geneva. Savour local wines, cheeses and breads while hearing directly from your host about life and hospitality in this wine-growing region.
Lavaux’s steep vineyard terraces are part of a UNESCO-listed cultural landscape, shaped by generations of cultivation above the lake. The meal pairs regional flavours with a personal introduction to the people and traditions behind them.
Zermatt & Matterhorn Views
Discover Zermatt beneath the Matterhorn, the Alpine resort set near one of Switzerland’s most recognisable peaks. Take in the mountain setting and, when conditions are clear, view the Matterhorn’s distinctive pyramid-shaped summit from the village.
Zermatt’s chalet-lined streets and mountaineering heritage give the resort a character rooted in the surrounding Alps. Matterhorn views are weather permitting; even when clouds gather, the village retains its sense of life at the foot of the high mountains.
Lake Maggiore Lakeside Views
Take in views across Lake Maggiore from its shoreline, with water, lakeside settlements and mountains sharing the panorama. A pause by the lake offers a closer look at the gentler scenery of the Italian-speaking region.
Lake Maggiore stretches across the Swiss–Italian border, and its setting contrasts with the high Alpine landscapes elsewhere on the tour. The lakeside atmosphere reflects this meeting of Swiss geography and Italian cultural influence.
UNESCO-Listed Rhaetian Railway Journey
Ride the Rhaetian Railway from St. Moritz to Poschiavo through the Swiss Alps. The route passes high-mountain scenery near Piz Bernina, with views of glaciers and dramatic changes in landscape from the train.
Part of the UNESCO-listed Rhaetian Railway, this line is celebrated for the engineering that carries trains across Alpine terrain on bridges and viaducts. Poschiavo’s Italian-speaking valley provides a striking contrast to the heights crossed along the way.
Lucerne Orientation, Chapel Bridge & Lion Monument
Join your Travel Director for an orientation of Lucerne, seeing the Chapel Bridge and Old Town Hall among the city’s historic landmarks. Colourful facades and the lakeside setting give the old town its distinctive appearance.
Visit the Lion Monument, carved into rock to commemorate Swiss Guards who died defending King Louis XVI during the French Revolution. The covered Chapel Bridge, with its centuries-old timber structure, offers another window into Lucerne’s past.
Brienz Woodcarving Heritage & Museum
Visit the Brienz Woodcarving Museum and discover the craft for which this lakeside village is known. See how skilled makers turn wood into detailed decorative work, gaining insight into the techniques and artistry associated with Brienz.
Woodcarving has been part of the village’s identity for generations, linking Alpine craftsmanship with everyday life and visiting travellers. This cultural encounter offers a closer look at a living Swiss tradition rather than only a view of the surrounding mountains.
Interlaken & Jungfrau Panorama
Visit Interlaken and take in views towards the peaks of the Bernese Oberland. Set between Lakes Thun and Brienz, the town provides a vantage point for appreciating the scale of the surrounding mountain landscape.
On a clear day, look towards the Jungfrau, one of the region’s best-known summits. The mountain views are weather permitting, while Interlaken’s position between two lakes remains a defining feature of this Alpine setting.
Farewell Dinner with Fellow Travellers
Gather for an included farewell dinner with your fellow travellers and Travel Director. Share a meal and raise a toast to the places and experiences that have shaped your time in Switzerland.
This hosted evening is a chance to exchange favourite moments, from lakeside towns to Alpine rail scenery, in the company of the people who travelled with you. The shared toast gives the journey a warm, personal close.
Lake Geneva Cruise & Chaplin’s World
Choose an optional cruise on Lake Geneva and visit Chaplin’s World at Manoir de Ban, Charlie Chaplin’s former home near Vevey. The lake journey reveals shoreline scenery framed by vineyards and mountains; the museum explores the filmmaker’s life and work.
Chaplin spent his later years at the estate, now a museum combining his family home with exhibits devoted to his films. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Klein Matterhorn Mountain Excursion
Choose an optional excursion to the Klein Matterhorn for a high-altitude perspective on the mountains above Zermatt. Look out across the surrounding Alpine peaks and, when skies are clear, towards the neighbouring Matterhorn.
Known as the site of Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, the Klein Matterhorn rises into a landscape of rock, snow and ice. Views depend on weather conditions, and the change in elevation is part of the experience. This excursion is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Private Boat to Isola dei Pescatori
Travel by private boat to Isola dei Pescatori, a small island in Lake Maggiore. Explore its narrow streets and waterside setting, with an opportunity to enjoy lunch featuring local specialities.
Also known as Isola Superiore, the island takes its name from its fishing heritage and remains a lived-in community rather than simply a garden attraction. Its close-packed buildings offer a different perspective on life around the lake. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Roseg Valley Horse-and-Carriage Ride
Take an optional horse-and-carriage ride into the Roseg Valley near St. Moritz. Travel at an unhurried pace through an Alpine landscape, with mountain scenery to enjoy from the carriage.
The valley lies in the Engadin region, where wooded stretches give way to views towards high peaks and glacial terrain. The traditional mode of travel makes the journey itself the focus, offering time to take in the surroundings. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
Lake Lucerne Cruise & Mount Stanserhorn
Choose an optional cruise on Lake Lucerne to see the surrounding shores and mountains from the water. The experience also includes a ride on the CabriO cable car to Mount Stanserhorn, with an open-air upper deck for mountain views.
Lake Lucerne’s winding shoreline places towns and steep slopes close together, while Stanserhorn offers a broad Alpine panorama in clear weather. The CabriO’s double-decker design makes the ascent distinctive. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
