Meet your fellow travellers over dinner at a local restaurant in Amman. This shared meal is an opportunity to get acquainted with the group while settling into the lively rhythm of Jordan’s capital.

Amman’s dining tables bring people together over conversation and local flavours. The welcome dinner offers a relaxed introduction to that hospitality, with your travelling companions gathered around the table at the start of the trip.

Explore Amman with a Local Guide, taking in the hilltop Citadel and Archaeological Museum before visiting the ancient Amphitheatre and Folklore Museum. Together, these sites reveal the layers beneath the capital’s busy streets.

Look across the city from its historic heights and step inside a Roman theatre built into the hillside. Archaeological finds and exhibits on traditional life connect Amman’s ancient past with the customs of Jordan today.

Visit the Iraq Al-Amir Women’s Co-operative Society near Amman for a hands-on local activity and a lunch of Jordanian specialties. Meet an initiative supported by TreadRight that helps local women build financial independence through their work.

The experience offers a closer look at the people behind the crafts and food, rather than a passing stop. Sharing an activity and a meal makes the co-operative’s work tangible and connects your visit to the community it supports.

Tour the ancient city of Jerash, walking among colonnaded streets, public spaces and monumental gateways. See Hadrian’s Arch, built in the second century, along with the Oval Forum’s sweeping colonnade and the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis.

Jerash preserves an unusually extensive Roman cityscape, making it possible to trace the shape of civic life on foot. Its stone avenues and grand ceremonial spaces give a vivid sense of the city’s former scale.

Share a home-style Jordanian meal at Bait Al-Khairat in Jerash, with generous dishes served family-style. Specialties may include maqluba, mansaf or musakhan, drawing on local ingredients such as sumac.

The setting is a restored stone house dating to 1881 that once brought the community together. Today, this women-led social enterprise supports local women and young people through food and collaboration, giving the meal a connection to the place and its people.

Hike the Shaq Al-Reesh Trail in Dana Nature Reserve, following winding paths through rocky canyons for a few relaxed hours. The route opens onto wide valley views, with time to take in the changing shapes and colours of the landscape.

Dana protects a striking stretch of Jordan’s highland terrain. This easygoing walk brings you close to its rugged rock formations without demanding a strenuous trek, offering a quieter perspective on the country’s natural scenery.

Share a Bedouin-style dinner at Ammarine Camp near Little Petra, with local flavours served around the table. Spend the night in the camp’s tents, away from the city lights and surrounded by the stillness of the desert.

Communal dining is central to the experience: a chance to slow down, talk and enjoy Jordanian hospitality in a landscape of sandstone and open sky. Quiet desert skies give the overnight stay a character distinct from a conventional hotel.

Hike the backdoor route from Little Petra into Petra, following quieter desert paths framed by sandstone cliffs and open views. On foot, there is time to notice the rock formations and shifting colours that are easy to miss from the road.

This approach makes the landscape part of the Petra experience, not merely a backdrop to its monuments. The gradual arrival offers a distinctive way to encounter the ancient Nabataean city and the terrain that surrounds it.

Explore Petra’s archaeological site and discover the rock-cut architecture that gives the ancient city its rose-red reputation. Enter the main site and spend time among the sandstone monuments of one of Jordan’s most celebrated landmarks.

Petra was a centre of the Nabataean kingdom, shaped by trade routes and remarkable stone-carving skill. Its facades and passages show how a city was built into this dramatic landscape, making the visit as much about its setting as its history.

Explore Wadi Rum by 4×4 on a two-hour Bedouin-led jeep ride through its broad desert valleys. Stops include places such as Siq Um Tawaqi and ancient rock inscriptions, alongside viewpoints that reveal the scale of the sandstone landscape.

Known for its red sand and towering rock formations, Wadi Rum holds traces of people who crossed and inhabited this desert over centuries. Travelling with a Bedouin driver adds a local perspective to the scenery and its history.

Stay at Amber Camp in Wadi Rum, with dinner and a night in the desert. The camp pairs its remote setting with comforts including air-conditioned accommodation, private bathrooms and balconies overlooking the surrounding sand and mountains.

Spend time on the sun terrace or in the garden as the light changes across the rock formations. Desert skies and deep quiet are the defining pleasures here, experienced without giving up the ease of a comfortable place to stay.

Float in the Dead Sea during a visit to the Holiday Inn Dead Sea resort, with lunch included. Lean back in the intensely salty water and feel its buoyancy support you at the surface; swimming skills are not required for this distinctive dip.

Set in the deep Jordan Rift Valley, the Dead Sea is known for its mineral-rich waters and exceptionally low elevation. The resort stop gives you time to experience the water for yourself rather than simply admire the shoreline.
