Explore the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam on a small-group sightseeing tour devoted to the art and history of the Netherlands. See works by Dutch masters, including Rembrandt’s The Night Watch, within the country’s national museum.

The collection brings the Dutch Golden Age into focus through painting, craftsmanship and objects from everyday life. A guided visit helps reveal the stories and artistic detail behind works created during an era of flourishing trade and cultural exchange.

Walk Leeuwarden’s historic centre with a Local Specialist, discovering its medieval streets, canals, architecture and notable monuments. The guided route offers an introduction to the lively capital of Friesland through the places that have shaped it.

Friesland has a distinct regional identity within the Netherlands, and Leeuwarden brings that heritage together with a visible contemporary arts scene. Walking at street level reveals details easily missed from a coach, from waterside views to the textures of older buildings.

Trafalgar

Cruise Amsterdam’s historic canals with your Travel Director and fellow travellers, enjoying a light meal and welcome drinks as the city’s bridges and waterside streets come into view. Admire gabled canal houses and grand merchants’ residences from the water.

Amsterdam’s 17th-century canal ring reflects the wealth and ambition of the Dutch Golden Age. Its waterways offer a distinctive perspective on the narrow facades and carefully planned streets that shape the city’s character.

Visit the Aalsmeer Flower Auction to see the scale and colour of the Netherlands’ flower trade. Watch blooms move through a vast trading centre where roses, tulips and chrysanthemums are among the many varieties handled.

Aalsmeer connects Dutch growers with buyers around the world, revealing the commercial side of a national tradition often associated with gardens and bouquets. This included visit operates as the alternative to Keukenhof when the tulip gardens are not open.

Explore Keukenhof’s tulip gardens during the flowering season, when millions of bulbs colour the paths and planted displays across 32 hectares. Walk among spring flowers in one of the Netherlands’ best-known garden settings.

The displays celebrate the bulb-growing tradition that has long shaped the Dutch landscape and its international reputation. Keukenhof admission is included when the gardens are open, generally from late March until mid-May; outside that season, the included visit is to Aalsmeer Flower Auction instead.

Visit Royal Delft Pottery to discover how the city’s characteristic blue-and-white ceramics are made. See the craft behind the delicate hand-painted designs and gain insight into techniques preserved at this Delft workshop.

Delftware rose to prominence during the Dutch Golden Age, when local makers developed their own interpretations of fashionable imported ceramics. The visit offers a close look at a recognisable Dutch art form and the care involved in creating each painted piece.

Discover Rotterdam on an orientation tour that introduces its contemporary architecture and multicultural streets. See distinctive city landmarks, including the Markthal and Erasmus Bridge, and take in the bold forms that distinguish Rotterdam from older Dutch cities.

Much of the centre was rebuilt following destruction during the Second World War. That history gave the city room to experiment, making its bridges, public spaces and modern buildings part of the story of its recovery.

View Arnhem’s John Frost Bridge, a key site of the 1944 Battle of Arnhem, and visit the Airborne Museum in nearby Oosterbeek. Together, these places illuminate the Allied attempt to secure a crossing over the Lower Rhine.

The bridge is named for the British commander whose force held its northern end for four days. At the museum, explore the battle’s wider story and the experiences behind events later depicted in A Bridge Too Far.

Explore Zwolle’s medieval centre on an orientation with your Travel Director. Get your bearings among the historic streets of this former Hanseatic city and see how its long trading history remains visible in its urban fabric.

Zwolle belonged to a network of northern European towns linked by commerce, a heritage reflected in its old centre. The orientation provides an introduction to a Dutch city whose character differs from the larger ports and capitals.

Discover Dutch cheese and wooden clog-making near Volendam, a former fishing port beside the IJsselmeer. Learn about the methods and skills behind two familiar Dutch traditions at a local producer.

Clogs developed as practical footwear for working in wet rural conditions, while cheese-making remains closely tied to the Netherlands’ dairy farming heritage. This hands-on cultural introduction connects recognisable symbols of the country with the people and processes that keep them in use.

Visit a mill in Katwoude and meet miller Tom to learn how mills contribute to managing water levels. Discover why water control matters in a low-lying country where communities have long adapted to living alongside lakes, canals and reclaimed land.

This MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experience links traditional Dutch engineering with the present-day challenge of rising water levels. The visit supports a project connected to UN Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action.

Share a traditional Dutch meal with the Pauw family at their dairy farm near Amsterdam. This hosted Be My Guest dinner offers time to connect with local people around the table in a relaxed countryside setting.

Family hospitality gives the evening a personal perspective on Dutch rural life, beyond the museums and city streets. Conversation and home-style food make this a cultural experience as well as an included celebratory meal.

Visit the windmills of Kinderdijk on an optional excursion to this UNESCO World Heritage-listed landscape near Rotterdam. See the group of 19 historic mills set beside waterways in a setting shaped by centuries of Dutch water management.

Built to help drain low-lying land, the mills show how communities worked with wind and water to make the landscape habitable. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour.
