Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over a welcome dinner in Tirana. Share a meal and get acquainted with the group in Albania’s lively capital.

Tirana’s colourful streets and café culture provide the setting for your first evening together. The hosted dinner offers a chance to hear about the places ahead and begin discovering the city through conversation.

Explore central Tirana with a Local Specialist and see Skanderbeg Square, the civic heart of Albania’s capital. Look out for the Et’hem Bey Mosque and the Clock Tower as you walk through streets shaped by Ottoman, communist-era and contemporary influences.

Hear local perspectives on daily life and the national hero commemorated in the square. The walk puts Tirana’s bold colours and changing architecture into context.

Head underground at Bunk’Art 2, a former communist-era bunker transformed into a museum in central Tirana. Explore its enclosed passageways and exhibits for an insight into Albania’s decades of isolation and state surveillance.

The bunker was built for officials during the rule of Enver Hoxha. Its stark setting makes the country’s recent history tangible and offers a striking contrast to the busy streets above.

Visit the hilltop citadel of Berat and take in views over the town’s clusters of Ottoman-era houses. Berat’s hillside setting and rows of closely spaced windows have earned it the nickname “City of a Thousand Windows.”

Part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the citadel reflects centuries of life in this crossroads of cultures. Its elevated position reveals the relationship between the fortified quarter, the river and the neighbourhoods below.

Meet Gladiola Cipi in her 250-year-old Ottoman-era home in Berat. Sample rose juice, rakija and Turkish Delight while hearing family stories and learning about customs preserved across generations.

Gladiola sources from local female producers and shares how women are building opportunities through heritage tourism. This community-supported visit connects the town’s historic architecture with the people keeping its traditions alive today.

Join the family at Kantina & Ferma Dukat, a working farm in the hills near Vlorë, for a home-cooked Albanian meal. Taste ingredients from the land, including olives, fresh cheese and byrek, alongside wine from the estate’s vineyard.

Hear how three generations have shaped the farm and its hospitality. This Be My Guest experience offers a personal introduction to seasonal farming and the food traditions of coastal Albania.

Explore the Albanian Riviera with a Local Specialist, taking in the coastline around Himarë and Porto Palermo Bay. See where steep hills descend towards the Ionian Sea and spend time in the coastal town of Himarë.

Himarë’s waterfront, beaches and seafood restaurants give the excursion a relaxed seaside character. The changing views of bays and headlands show why this stretch of southern Albania is as much a scenic journey as a town visit.

Step inside Porto Palermo Castle, the stone fortress overlooking a sheltered bay on the Albanian Riviera. Explore its chambers and look out across the Ionian Sea from its commanding coastal position.

The castle is associated with Ali Pasha of Tepelena, an Ottoman Albanian ruler whose influence extended across the region in the early 19th century. Its setting brings together military history and the Riviera’s rugged shoreline.

Taste a traditional Albanian lunch at Mrizi i Zanave, a family-run farm and restaurant in the village of Fishtë. Enjoy dishes made with ingredients such as organic vegetables, house-made cheese and free-range meat, with wine and raki produced on site.

The farm also sources from nearby families, supporting local producers. The meal offers a direct experience of Albania’s slow food traditions and the agricultural community behind them.

Cross the Bay of Kotor by boat to Our Lady of the Rocks, the small island near Perast. Step inside its church with a Local Specialist and hear the legend behind this distinctive pilgrimage site.

The island was created over centuries through the placement of stones in the bay. Its church, maritime associations and mountain-framed setting reveal a close connection between local faith and life on the water.

Explore Kotor’s medieval old town, wandering its cobbled streets beneath the mountains that rise above the bay. See the ancient city walls and discover the compact squares and stone buildings within them.

Part of the UNESCO-listed Bay of Kotor, the town bears the marks of centuries of Adriatic trade and Venetian influence. Its fortified setting makes the surrounding landscape inseparable from the experience of walking its streets.

Walk Dubrovnik’s stone-paved Old Town with a Local Specialist. See Onofrio’s Fountain, the Rector’s Palace and the medieval city walls while exploring the streets inside this UNESCO-listed city.

Hear about the maritime republic that once governed Dubrovnik and traded across the Adriatic. The preserved civic buildings and imposing ramparts reveal how the city projected both prosperity and strength from its coastal position.

Gather with your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a farewell dinner in Dubrovnik. Share a meal and revisit the places, flavours and encounters that have shaped your journey along the Balkan coast.

It is a hosted opportunity to exchange favourite moments with the group, from Albania’s farm kitchens to the fortified towns of Montenegro and Croatia. The evening marks the journey’s close through shared conversation and company.

Visit Kruja, the historic town closely associated with Skanderbeg, on an optional excursion from Tirana. Discover the setting from which Albania’s national hero led resistance against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century.

Kruja’s hilltop position and enduring association with that struggle make it a meaningful complement to Tirana’s Skanderbeg Square. This Optional Experience is at additional cost and can be booked on tour.

Experience an evening of Albanian food, music and dance in Tirana. The cultural show includes a symbolic Tirana wedding, offering a staged introduction to local celebration and hospitality.

The combination of dinner and performance brings festive traditions into one shared evening with your fellow travellers. This Optional Experience is at additional cost and can be booked on tour.

Pairing a panoramic mountain perspective with a close-up look at one of the Adriatic’s historic settlements, this excursion reveals two sides of Montenegro’s coast. It is an Optional Experience at additional cost, bookable on tour.

Dine on the panoramic terrace at Hotel Adrovic, overlooking the Adriatic coast and Sveti Stefan. Enjoy an evening meal with views towards the small fortified islet, one of Montenegro’s best-known coastal sights.

The terrace setting places the shoreline and sea at the centre of the experience, particularly as evening light changes over the water. This Optional Experience is at additional cost and can be booked on tour.

Cruise along the Dalmatian coastline at sunset and enjoy dinner on board. Watch the shore from the water as the evening light falls across Croatia’s coastal landscape.

The boat offers a different perspective from Dubrovnik’s stone streets and ramparts, with time to take in the sea air and changing colours of the coast. This Optional Experience is at additional cost and can be booked on tour.

Discover historic Ston with a Local Specialist on the Pelješac Peninsula. Learn about its long-established salt pans and extensive defensive walls while exploring the town’s maritime past.

Salt production helped make Ston valuable to the Republic of Ragusa, which fortified the area to protect it. The excursion connects a working coastal tradition with the imposing stonework still visible today. It is an Optional Experience at additional cost, bookable on tour.
