Meet your fellow travellers over a welcome dinner with wine at ZuZu, the restaurant at Scottsdale’s Hotel Valley Ho. The gathering offers a relaxed introduction to the group and its Travel Director.

Named for a member of the family behind the hotel, ZuZu brings a personal note to the evening. It is a chance to settle into the Southwestern atmosphere of Scottsdale before exploring the landscapes beyond the city.

Travel the Red Rock Scenic Byway into Sedona, where sandstone formations rise above the high desert in shades of rust and ochre. See the setting that has long drawn artists, outdoor enthusiasts and visitors interested in the area’s spiritual traditions.

Spend time among Sedona’s shops and galleries, with its distinctive rock skyline close at hand. The route also takes in Oak Creek Canyon, where the road winds through a wooded gorge in Coconino National Forest.

Discover the Grand Canyon South Rim with a Local Expert who explains the canyon’s layered rock formations and the forces that shaped them. Look across the vast chasm while learning how the landscape continues to change.

The expert also introduces the plants and animals of this high-desert environment, including where wildlife might be spotted. This geology-led encounter adds depth to one of America’s best-known natural landmarks without losing sight of the scale visible from the rim.

Watch sunrise over the Grand Canyon if you are an early riser, as changing light picks out the cliffs and distant ridges. Follow Desert View Drive along the South Rim for further perspectives across the canyon.

At Desert View Point, see the Desert View Watchtower, designed by architect Mary Colter with inspiration from ancestral Puebloan buildings. From this area, the Colorado River and the Painted Desert come into view, extending towards Navajo and Hopi lands.

Explore Monument Valley with Navajo Local Experts aboard open-sided, all-terrain vehicles on a private route beyond the main road. Travel among the valley’s immense buttes and mesas while hearing about Navajo history, culture and connections to this landscape.

Share a Navajo cookout amid the rock formations. The hosted experience brings personal perspectives to scenery recognised around the world and directly supports efforts to create more equitable opportunities for local communities.

Experience a performance at Red Heritage, a Navajo-owned performing arts theatre in Page. Enjoy dinner and drinks while local performers present dance, flute playing, live drumming and song.

The evening offers an opportunity to encounter living Navajo cultural traditions through the artists who practise and share them. Your visit supports a local venue dedicated to showcasing talent and helping preserve Navajo performance and dance for future generations.

Explore Bryce Canyon National Park from its rim and major viewpoints, looking across natural amphitheatres crowded with slender rock spires known as hoodoos. The visit includes opportunities to walk along the rim or take a more demanding route down into the canyon.

Wind, water and frost have shaped these formations from the edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Travelling through Bryce Canyon Country on Scenic Highway 89 adds broad views of sandstone cliffs, sagebrush and high ridges.

Tour Zion Canyon aboard a privately chartered open-air vehicle, with live commentary from a Local Expert. Look up at the canyon’s sheer sandstone walls and take in its changing colours and riverside scenery.

The open-air format keeps you close to the landscape while the commentary explains the features that distinguish Zion National Park. It is a comfortable way to appreciate the scale of the cliffs and canyon before choosing how to explore further.

Choose a guided hike to Zion’s Emerald Pools, following a trail into the park’s sandstone landscape. Discover the contrast between dry canyon walls and the water-fed pockets of greenery for which the pools are named.

This is one of two included Zion Insight Choice activities; travellers select it instead of the Virgin River walk and Nature Center visit. A guide helps bring the surroundings into focus while you experience the canyon at walking pace.

Choose a self-guided walk beside the Virgin River, taking time to notice Zion’s riverside habitats and watch for wildlife. Visit the Zion Nature Center at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center to learn about the park’s environmental education work.

This gentler option is one of two included Zion Insight Choice activities, offered instead of the guided Emerald Pools hike. It pairs time outdoors with insight into how the park supports understanding of its local environment.

Visit historic Jackson Town Square beneath the backdrop of the Teton Range. See its distinctive arches made from shed elk antlers and spend time browsing the town’s galleries and boutiques.

Jackson’s streets bring together Old West character and contemporary mountain-town life. The antler arches make a memorable landmark, while the surrounding square offers a closer look at the art, shops and everyday atmosphere of this Wyoming gateway town.

Travel through Grand Teton National Park, where the Teton Range rises sharply above the valley. Take in mountain views and watch for wildlife as you cross this distinctive Wyoming landscape.

The park’s combination of steep peaks, open valley and varied habitats makes every sighting different. Bison, elk and moose are among the animals that may be seen, though sightings cannot be guaranteed. The experience centres on the mountain scenery and wildlife of the Tetons.

Walk among Yellowstone’s geothermal features with your Travel Director, seeing colourful hot springs, bubbling mud pots and steaming ground. Watch for an eruption of Old Faithful, the park’s renowned geyser.

Yellowstone became the world’s first national park in 1872 and protects an extraordinary concentration of geothermal activity. An informative stroll helps explain the landscape beneath your feet while giving you time to observe its shifting colours, steam and erupting water.

See the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, a steep-sided gorge carved by the Yellowstone River, and take in another side of the park’s varied scenery. Travel through Hayden Valley, keeping watch across its open grasslands.

The valley is known for wildlife, including bison and elk; wolves and bears may also be present, although sightings are never certain. Together, the gorge and valley reveal Yellowstone’s contrasts of sculpted rock, running water and wide animal habitat.

Explore the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, a museum complex devoted to the art, history and natural world of the American West. Discover collections that include Western art, firearms and natural history.

The centre offers a more detailed view of the people and stories associated with this region than roadside scenery alone can provide. Its exhibits place Western legends and landscapes alongside objects and interpretations that help explain their enduring place in American culture.

Spend an evening at a traditional Wyoming family ranch, beginning with cocktails in the historic Ranch House bar. Sit down to a home-cooked, ranch-style dinner before gathering by the fire pit for s’mores.

Live country, folk and bluegrass music gives the evening its character. More than a standard hotel meal, this hosted experience offers time to enjoy the setting, hospitality and musical traditions associated with ranch life in the American West.

Choose a scenic horseback ride at Ucross Ranch, accompanied by a Ranch Hand. See the Wyoming countryside from the saddle and gain a feel for the pace and setting of ranch life.

This is an included ranch Insight Choice activity, offered as an alternative to fishing. Riding with a Ranch Hand adds a local connection to the experience, while the route offers a different perspective on the open landscapes surrounding the family ranch.

Choose to try your hand at fishing at Ucross Ranch, spending time outdoors in the ranch’s Wyoming setting. The activity offers a quieter way to experience the countryside and its wide-open atmosphere.

This is an included ranch Insight Choice activity, available as an alternative to the scenic horseback ride. It gives travellers who prefer time by the water their own way to connect with the landscape and the rhythms of a traditional family ranch.

View Devils Tower National Monument, the striking rock formation that rises abruptly above the surrounding Wyoming landscape. Learn about its geological character and why the site holds spiritual significance for the Lakota and other Indigenous peoples.

The tower’s near-vertical sides make it a distinctive landmark visible from a distance. Encountering it with context brings together natural history and living cultural meaning, rather than treating this sacred place solely as a scenic stop.

Experience Spearfish Canyon in South Dakota’s Black Hills, following a creek-carved gorge framed by limestone cliffs and woodland. Watch the scenery shift between rock walls, trees and the canyon floor.

The area is valued for its scenery and wildlife habitat, offering a different texture from the open plains and desert parks elsewhere on the tour. Its wooded gorge and ancient limestone make this a distinctive Black Hills landscape in its own right.

Explore Badlands National Park with a Local Expert, travelling through a landscape of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles and mixed-grass prairie. Learn how its geology formed and hear about the area’s deep Indigenous heritage.

Interpretation from Black Hills Adventure Tours brings human histories and perspectives into view alongside the park’s exposed rock layers. This Make Travel Matter experience supports more equitable opportunities for Indigenous guides and adds cultural understanding to the dramatic scenery.

Visit the Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills and take advantage of special access to ascend towards the mountain carving. Stand face-to-face with the sculpture from a vantage point not available to the general public.

Dedicated to the Lakota leader Crazy Horse, the memorial also has a mission to protect and preserve Native American culture, traditions and living heritage. The close-up visit makes the ambition and scale of this continuing project especially clear.

Choose an optional flight over the Grand Canyon by helicopter or fixed-wing plane for an aerial perspective on its cliffs, ridges and immense scale. Looking down from above reveals patterns in the landscape that are difficult to grasp from the South Rim alone.

The two aircraft options offer different ways to experience the canyon from the air. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour; flight availability and conditions may affect what can be offered.

Float gently along the Colorado River near Page, taking in river-level views of the surrounding canyon landscape. The proposed route passes sights including Horseshoe Bend and Petroglyph Beach.

Travelling on the water offers a calm contrast to viewpoints high above the river and a closer sense of the canyon walls and bends. This optional experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour, subject to availability and operating conditions.

Explore Antelope Canyon with a local Navajo (Diné) guide near Page. Move through its narrow sandstone passages and observe the flowing shapes, colours and changing light that have made this slot canyon so widely photographed.

A guided visit provides access to the canyon and a local perspective on the landscape. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour; access and the appearance of light within the canyon depend on conditions and availability.

Take an optional scenic float down the Snake River within Grand Teton National Park. From the water, enjoy a different perspective on the park’s mountain scenery and riverside environment.

The gentle river journey places the Tetons against the open valley while giving you time to watch the banks for wildlife, though sightings are not guaranteed. This experience is at additional cost and bookable on tour. A signed waiver is required to participate.
